well my spitfire im about 20,000gbp deep
my celica gt4 im about 45-50,000 gbp deep
my supra im currently 63,985.64 usd deep and counting fast
my rx8 im like 400 usd deep other than purchase
and then some small amounts on other cars ive owned over time
Just spent 20 grand on my mark 3 Supra everything new and or built except for the white pearl paint . That’s still oem original . Paid 3.5k for hey in 2003. My build is almost over lol.
I bought my 88' NA base Supra with 114K miles summer of 21' for $8,000. Fantastic shape. First mechanic bill was $4,200 for A/C conversion, new master cylinder, PS hose leak fix, all fluids flushed, and a new timing belt (WAY steep, that one hurt.) After that it was all custom LED lights all around (I did the same thing you did with the tail lights only it was a $500 LED board) swaped the taillights for 89+ ones, sway bars, Fortune 500 coilovers, very nice wheels and tires, fixing the brake calipers and painting, sound system, and decals. All in all I have $13K in her and the engine hasn't been touched nor has the paint (needs all three bumpers painted AND the targa top.) Never dreamed I would spend a fraction of that and I have more to go. What a car.
Between $40-50k. Not that bad honestly.

If you can find a 3rd gen 4Runner for cheap enough, might be a good short-term project. Or some 90s Corolla/Tercel/Paseo.
Or is it time to get a cheap Honda?
