    Keep in mind with innersphere mechs if you use an XL engine you can be killed simply by losing a right or left torso..and everyone will go for your left and right torsos as normally its less armor than center torso. Also if your watching videos where it seems peeps are doing really well and they are cleaning up the battlefield ..ignore it..I garuntee nobody can rambo in this game and usually youtube videos are edited to have the best of the best matches as a video and usually this is not the case..typically you will lose a match more than win...long time players can join a quickplay as a cohesive unit and they know what their doing and you will get rolled..

    The list is somewhat outdated, but for clan mechs, must buys are: Timber Wolf, Hellbringer, Ebon Jaguar, Storm Crow, Artic Cheetah.
    Okay-ish are: Mad Dog, Executioner, Shadow Cat, Dire Wolf (Due to the massive firepower,) Adder and Nova.
    Don't waste your C-Bills/Money on: Warhawks, Gargoyles, Mist Lynx's (It's a 25 ton mech that is slower than pretty much every IS mech,) Kit Foxes (It's a light that borders on a medium but is squisher and slower with no firepower.) and Summoners (The Hellbringer is better all-around.)

    • @leomoran142
      @leomoran142 8 років тому

      Got to agree with you on the Ebon Jaguar, they are truly awesome, totally versatile, can be built for anything but scouting.
      As for the Executioner, post rescale, they should be renamed Executed. They are easily the largest target on the battlefield, have about 4 tons less loadout space than the Ebon Jaguar, are slower than the Ebon Jaguar, and most of the hardpoints are in one arm and are slung low.

    • @DirtyDishSoap
      @DirtyDishSoap 8 років тому

      The only thing saving the executioner from being complete garbage is the MASC on it and the jump jets. The pod space is worse than the summoner and it's a 95T that has a height similar to the Atlas. I can only make one build work on it (laser vomit,) but it's so underwhelming compared to other mechs that do that job so much better. If you buy one, don't think of it as an assault but a heavy with shitty hit boxes. Be fire support.

    • @leomoran142
      @leomoran142 8 років тому

      The MASC robs the executioner of an extra CERL laser, or 4 CERM lasers (if exchanging like for like in terms of crit slots), and each jump jet robs it of a CMP laser. MASC only provides miniscule bursts of speed, and mushes your legs to powder if kept active for too long, while the jump jets are only useful for quick direction changes, and even then only once you land. It can't do anything as well as the EBJ, including fire support, except jump, and that's only because the EBJ can't jump

    Hey bud I would like to say your tutorial is pretty good however I have one concern.
    Where you mention that the other variants of the Cicada ,"aren't very good", other than the CDA-3M is highly incorrect.
    I am currently piloting a Cicada CDA-3C (The only change made to this variant it is replacing the standard PPC to an ER PPC), I average 332 damage a match and at least 1 kill. Best match with my CDA-3C so far was 598 damage and 3 kills.
    Thus I find it hard to see how you reached the conclusion that the CDA-3M is better than the other variants. Perhaps the CDA-3M fits your gameplay style better than the other variants however it definitely does not justify your statement.
    But thanks for the list of Mechs I have showed a few new players your list and it has helped them tremendously.

    • @CaptainLouis
      @CaptainLouis  9 років тому

      +Plazmadawg ZA Hey Plaz,
      First, thanks for pointing out your point of view on the Cicada's. Of course, most of those quick reviews by chassis is made from my sole experience. I am sure the CDA-3C can have a high damage output with the right build and in the right hands (such as yours). I strongly advise people to try your customisation if indeed, they find the Cicada interesting.
      That being said, it goes with other mechs as well. I can't, for all the time I put into it, do anything with the grasshopers. Yet, I've seen a guy deliver 900+ damage 2 rounds in a row. I have absolutely no clue how he manage this. Yet, in my Hunchies, I can get up to 500-550 damage easily.
      Thanks for posting and have a good one :).

    I'm getting back in to MWO after like 2+ years break. I had a LRM Catapult I really liked and fun to play. Is there a similar/upgraded mech with similar playstyle that I should look in to?

    • @KjetilBalstad
      @KjetilBalstad 9 років тому

      +shadow7037932 The Mad Dog is the clan counterpart and can be a good LRM platform. Things have changed since you played the game last time, and really mastering LRMs is much harder.

    • @leomoran142
      @leomoran142 8 років тому

      The Ebon Jaguar is probably the most versatile mech in the entire game.
      I have several, each set up for a different role.
      My support EBJ is kitted with 4 C-LRM 15 launchers, a C-ERLL, 2 machine guns (with 1/2 ton of ammo), about 7 tons of LRM ammo, and an active probe. This gives it a firepower at 500m of 70 or so. I typically get between 500 and 800 damage with this, depending on the map.
      Fortunately, other players are becoming more accepting of the support role as a valid one.
      The Stalker 5M is THE quintessential support weapon on the Inner Sphere side. 5 missile hardpoints and 5 energy hardpoints provide a lot of options. While I wouldn't recommend getting up close and personal in it, the possibility of firing 30 SRMs and 5 medium lasers into an enemy is kinda gratifying, even if the side torsos are huge from the side. All but one (CT) of the hardpoints are mounted high, as is the cockpit, which makes it an excellent peeker. Best loadout choice for the STK-5M would have to be 5 LRM-15, 5 Small Lasers, 10-12 tons of LRM ammo, and as many double heat sinks as you can put in there. A standard engine, between 250-275, is an absolute must.

  • @honeybee5151
    @honeybee5151 7 років тому

    I'm getting into MWO, and I got a firestarter. Its engine is 150-170, and I sold the flamers and got an AC/5, light ppc, and two er medium lasers. I armored the right side to hell and stripped the left to save weight. I have light ferro-fibrous armor and light endo steel. How do I work with this, how should I rearrange this thing to make it viable, and how should I use it?

  • @Timmeification

    i have problems deciding which version of a mech i should get. any idea where i should focus my attention on?

    • @CaptainLouis
      @CaptainLouis  8 років тому

      +Timmeification Weapons point/Ecm capability. It really depends on what kind of style you want to play and which weapon you usually are comfortable with. Different version of the same chassis can really change the gameplay style and approach you're going to use. I suggest you go on mwo.smurfy-net.de/ and play around the customization until you are satisfied. :)

    I wanna know more about the king crab

    • @CaptainLouis
      @CaptainLouis  8 років тому +1

      King crab is a 100 tons (max) IS mech. Various models have different top or chassis weapons such as laser or missile hard points but it's main weaponnery is placed on the two large "clamps". It's rather slow and should never have an XL engine. People run it usualy with Dual Guaus, Quadruple UAC5 (extremely powerful) or 6 AC2. It's very bulky, powerful and if managed properly can come on top of a Dire Wolf which cost relatively 3 times more (minus expenses).

      Once you gather enough Cbills, you can go into the store and purchase a model that you'd like. I suggest a Medium to start off. EXP is only gathered on bought Mechs and not on trials. Also, the only true way is grinding. I have spend much of my money on collections but most of my mechs are through hard earn c-bills. Good hunting !

    • @CaptainLouis
      @CaptainLouis  8 років тому

      Well, the Timber Wolf was probably one of the most powerful mech released to date. It got massively nerf but when you compare, speed, hard points, overall defence. You have an overall very very good mech. It certainly is in my top 5. However, it's quite expensive. But it looks soooo coool :D. People usualy go 2 lrm 20, 4 med laser or you could switch to 4 large laser or other variant of this style.

      To be fair, the TimberWolf is an excellent mech. However, I don't know how much mechs you already have or mech bays but I'd suggest buying two lower IS mechs that will be cheaper and allow you to have a bit of diversity. If you do are in love with the TimberWolf chassis and and want it in your hangar, then yes, it's a no brainer :). This Clan mech is great.

    For those who know the game, the Jenner is way better than stated in this video, especially in organized teams. This video is misleading and based around what you are good or bad at... Sorry usually more open to uploads, but come on man, people are believing some of what you say as fact and you have to consider that when making this type of video. Maybe get more involved in competitive play to grasp more knowledge. Otherwise nice video attempt...

    • @CaptainLouis
      @CaptainLouis  8 років тому +3

      You seem to be missing the entire point of this video. It is purely aimed and focused on newcomers, solo players and those who never played the game but are curious about it. Obviously, the meta moves around but I will not redo a video each time a patch comes out. This video goes in line with the rest of my videos and act as a tutorial slash basic information. I am not discussing competitive builds, pre-deployed decks and high synergy team Mechs that is more focused on groups than solo players.
      Moreover, I love the Jenner, but it is hard to tell that a good first Mech should be a scout which needs a new XL engine and would benefit greatly from mastering it with the 10% boost in speed. You have to understand that most people starting to play this game mostly want to see combat, receive a few punch and make a few kill. Jenners and overall scouts pilot needs good map awareness, builds knowledge and excellent communication.
      I still stick with Hunchback for a first Mech. I think it is fantastic.
      Nice comment attempt.
