- I recorded this song on my 2nd Pop Jazz album many years ago as the title cut. I decided to re program and simplify the arrangement a bit and put a simpler face on it. I love the tune and felt it could use a cleaner approach. Crazy changes.
Many years ago when from the hip came out I played it nonstop. Great music
That’s wonderful! Thanks for listening! And following my work! 🙏😎🎸
This vid should deserve a million views!!
Loved this song since 1990...a groove stuck in my head for the last quarter century
+Trent Davis Awesome! Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate the comment!
I heard a little snippet of his piece St. Valentine on the weather nation program. Searched Shazam until I found out the title & artist. I think I'm gonna being enjoying his music from now on. He has a very special rapport with that guitar of his 👋 👋 👋 👋
Thanks Miriam! Glad you found me. 🙏😊
@@MichaelJDowdle yessss , so am i 😍

I like the original and this one. I think I remember hearing the song and buying the tape back around 1991(?). Lost the tape. Thanks for posting this online.

@@MichaelJDowdle Of course! Loving the YoYo Recital piece, too!
Amazing tune. Really appreciate all the new riffs, really slick and sweet sounding!
Thank You Jonathan! Glad you noticed.
Every time I sit down to play, this is one of the songs I try and capture. There are so many of your songs that have become a part of my daily life, I can't even tell you. In fact, whenever I get a new guitar, I pull up one of your songs to play along with, to gauge how the guitar sounds. You are my benchmark! I've followed Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, since the 70's, but you are by far my favorite artist. Your songs and your playing ability are unmatched. I wish I could have you teach me ! Thanks Michael, for sharing your talent with us.
Astonishing... just beautiful !
oh my goodness.......smoothness personified.....gotta check out more of this fine finery
Thank a lot Tim! Happy you like it.
Ah....the lost art of melody! Such a great tune.
Yes indeed! Thanks so much!
Bravo Maestro!
El Gran Chala thank you so much 😊
Hace 20 años escuche el disco from the hip, y te has convertido en uno de mis guitarristas favoritos, muchas gracias por los bue os recuerdos😊
You are so very welcome! Thank you 🙏 😊🎸
Love it. Reminds of Steely Dans best work. Tasty phrasing, great human feel, and excellent tone. Well done!!!
Tasty Stuff. Your versatility inspires me.
Thank you so much!😊
Finally doing more videos. Check out the new one of an old one I just rearranged.
Super! When will you visit the Netherlands again?
Very Nive Michael !, I love the new approach ! Any chance of a new jazz-tunes album soon ? Greetings Bart
No album planned but I will post new songs online as I do them. Seems nobody buys albums anymore. It would sure be great to come back over, but no plans at the moment.
Remembering first hearing this and running out to get the album! Love it!
Thank you so much for your support! That’s awesome 👏 🙏🎸
@@MichaelJDowdle remembering seeing a PRS in the photo on the cover of the CD
That is correct! I was using my root beer colored PRS Custom on that album for a lot of those songs. Good eye!😉
@@MichaelJDowdle I was lusting for a PRS then! I love that color! Didn't they call it "tortoise shell"?
Dude, the old Airus dayz. Wow!! Great memories. Love this one.
+Mr2UBud Yes those were good days for sure! Thanks
Fantastic! Thank you....
This is my favorite tune from you, Michael. It lifted me up many times from frustration and dreariness in my mundane days. Every time it comes on, my mind enters the parallel universe where tranquility and simplicity suddenly come within my closest reach. Driving down the pacific coast highway with this song on is as close to walking in heaven for me as it gets.
Thank you for this tasteful remake and I love both versions very dearly.
Awesome sauce. And your watch matches your room.
Of Course! Watches are my "thang". Thanks much!
Awesome stuff Mike
Thank you 🙏
Awesome stuff as usual Michael!
Hi Michael, finally you are doing some great clips again! This is a great re-arrangement of a great song. It gives me goosebumps and shows the world that Allen Hinds and you are the finest players in the world! Keep up the good work my dear friend! Had 3 visitors here last week who hadn't heard of you. Sold them 3 copies of Soulmate, so there's money here for you! They love your playing!
Man... you are smmooooth! I really enjoy listening to you play!
I like this version! Very upliftiing and inspirational! Thanks!
Brilliant playing as usual ... love this song!
... brilliant! ... you allways come with great feeling and experience into your videos ... SALUT!
Thanks SO much!
This was exceptionally tasty. Thanks for sharing it.
Beautiful song! So relaxing :)
Man, your tone gives me Goose Bumps! (Don't mean to make comparisons, but Larry Carlton comes to mind). Beautiful!
Thanks so much! Nothing like a sweet mid tone! 🎸
You are an amazing artist, please make new music for your fans like me... big hugs from Cancun.
Thanks so much! I appreciate your interest in my work!🎶🎸
Michael, thanks so much for being such an important part of the soundtrack of my life. How your music lifts me! Please, oh please, oh please keep sharing these great videos! Best, Bob
Thank you so much Bob. I plan on it! Recently posted some acoustic solos of Peg,Josie and You've Got a Friend. Gotta get back to some electric stuff too though.
+Michael Dowdle Love all 3 of those new offerings. I honestly thought James Taylor was going to join you in the living room! Rick Baldassin, myself and others did Peg, all those years ago in the band Odessa. Great song! You can't go wrong with Steely Dan.
+Robert Evans nothing like playing Peg in a band setting! So fun.
Another fabulous song. I love this arrangement. The changes are amazing. You are SOOOOOO good.
You are very kind!
Love your tone Carlton like
Thanks Dennis!🎸😎
I really liked the original, and I l.o.v.e. this new version, especially the fun little run at 3:29-3:32. Nice going, MD!
tasty.....i dig it!
Thank So Much!
OMG, I still have this CD!!! I saw you in....’91? You played at the Riverside Jazz Festival? I think??? Perhaps I’m confused. But I was really into Larry Carlton back then and you caught my attention. You, just like Carlton, just groove on song after song without disappointment. So enjoyable. In fact, hearing you play inspired me to practice more. Although I improved my chops, I still could not reach that fluid smoothness that you have. Nice to hear this again.
Thanks so much for the kind words and compliments ! 🙏😎
You were really into Carlton back then . But Dowdle changed everything . Idiot
Love your sound, Michael... doesn't matter what gear you're playing - always sounds great.
Thank you so much. I try to get "my tone" out of any gear I use. Happy you noticed!
Love your melodic approach. Im trying to be a more Modal player. studying with David Walliman right now. Seems I could learn allot from you too. Very Nice.
Tim's Guitar World with Tim Feskorn 😎Thanks Tim. Melodic playing is my muse. 🙏
Terrific tune. Glad I stumbled across your videos. Never heard a sweeter, penultimate Les Paul tone either. Reminds me of some of that great Larry Carleton stuff off of Room 335. Is it blasphemy to say this is actually a better tone than Carleton's 335? Really great playing. What setup do you have to achieve that great sound? What year is your Les Paul.
Thanks Peter! I was going direct through a Digitech IPB 10. Custom patch obviously. A Tweed model as I recall.
Hi again, Mike. I wondered, did I just hear you on the Weather / Hurricane report on Fox Network? Sure sounded like you. I get worn out by guys who say 'Sounds like Larry, sounds like Lee'.. No he don't ! haha. If you'd pay attention...hehehe.
Thanks Fred. Could have been. You are kind!😊
Wonferful
Thanks Ken!
Thanks so much for uploading this! I've been wondering how you did that yodeling guitar bit at 3:53 for almost 25 years now. I knew it was a bunch of hammer-ons, but wasn't quite sure how you were doing it.
Thanks so much! I now know what to call that lick! lol
