I kinda hate how in order to turn her originally straight friend gay they had to make him the most stereotypical gay man they could’ve thought of. He could’ve been masculine, they could’ve kept him as himself but just added on ‘oh he likes guys and girls nowww’ but no they had to change his whole personality to a bland boring stereotype. I mean they changed Lara’s whole personality too so why am I surprised
Vox Machina is actually much better about all that. Also, Baldur's Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077. Luke Evans is gay. Lee Pace is gay. They can both be pretty masculine. I don't know how they are in their relationships, because I don't know them as people, but they can certainly embody very masculine ideals while being gay. I only started watching episode one, so I don't know how I'll feel. I think Lara looks fine, and I enjoyed the Lara of the new trilogy, although I think she would have to be much stronger to do everything you see her do. Not like powerlifter strong, but at least like rock climber strong. Still, I like her looks, and her attitude, and she does come off as very intelligent. It is a younger and less experienced Lara in that trilogy, so she is mostly surviving in the first game, and not really thriving till the third game. She is definitely brutal in those games, but mostly by necessity.
She made a point to collect and build off her father's legacy, getting her closer to her family and (in Legends) figure out what happened to her mom in the disappearance from that portal

They literally took a little-used character who had a major trait of being a ladies man (and coincidentally was black) then made him gay because Netflix had to meet their gay best friend quota. That's not even mentioning Lara (who shouldn't have any relationship stuff to begin with, outside of *maaaaaybe* explaining a co-op game).

@@Gouda992 This. Dante is actually bisexual or whatever pronoun is new. It's the way of being a demon man, we gotta need some diversity for half demon as well, why only humans can do it? I mean have you ever seen him hitting on Trish? He must be gay Can you imagine if that really ended up happening?
I'm a big Tomb Raider fan. I watched this series with little expectation, but I have to say that I actually liked it. The following things bothered me: -Lara cries too often and for too long -Daddy issues -she is framed for a supposed childhood trauma Other things, such as Zip being gay, were also suspicious to me at the beginning. But the longer I saw him, the more I liked him. He has his own charm. I really liked him as a whole. Similar to what they did with Isaac in the Castlevania series. I thought it was great. I've heard from other UA-camrs that Lara is supposed to be a lesbian. I didn't notice anything about that in the series. The blonde woman Camilla Roth. You'd think they were in or had a romantic relationship, but that's not the case, it's very vaguely implied. I'm more of the opinion that they're as close as sisters. I have nothing against homosexuals, but Lara is not in a relationship. Her only passion is adventure. And even that was portrayed in the series as a kind of must. There are often scenes where I recognized the Lara from the games. With her cheeky remarks and the desire for challenges and the almost glee when she comes across a trap in the temple. (Episode 8)
They really screwed Lara Croft's entire character here. Clearly shows that these director and writers do not know nothing about her character whatsoever. Of course they have to make an adaptation from Square's Tomb Raider games instead of the original. Why can't we at least get a decent Tomb Raider series, where she's a thrill seeking adventurous woman, and trouble comes to her.

@@animezilla4486 because most of us aren't deviants and aren't so simple that our thought process is "oh look, this characters gay! I'm also gay! I immediately can't criticise anything about this show"
I am a progressive, but I still stopped watching this show after the first episode. I was shocked by how they were portraying her. What a mindblowing mistake by the director and channel. Come on, man! This is supposed to be badass Lara Croft. Why would you make her so timid, weak, and emotional? I have heard that this is supposed to be when she was younger and still learning, and that she grows and evolves throughout the season, but they've lost so many viewers well before that evolution occurs. If they wanted to show her as weaker and more emotional, they could have done it as a flashback during an episode with Lara remembering when she wasn't as strong and fearless as she is now.
I feel people just forgot that she's a cool & a bit snarky femme fatale like Bond girls or Ada wong in ps1 & ps2 era It makes sense to change her in the reboot cause it's her origin stories, but here?
They trying to be so "Legend of Korra". Bruh, Korra was targeted to adolesence, while Lara Croft games to a bit older audience. If you're making a series based on adult media look and feel like a cartoon don't expect people to take it seriously. There is so many serious adult animations that proves us it is possible
I liked quite a few of these clips, it's just that it's not a show I'd call "TR". Not a fan of character erasure; if you want to make these characters and this story use original designs, don't assimilate existing works just to piggy back off their notoriety for a cash grab. I'd love a new IP featuring a badass british lady and her two comedic stooges fighting magical nonsense. You can even put dramatic trauma in it. Just don't call her "Lara".
4:46 Hold on! Back up! Ok WHY couldn’t we get something like this in the new games?! To have a T-Rex Bossfight would be amazing. It would’ve worked for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Instead, they gave us the boring village with NPC’s repeating the word “Machatta” ever 5 seconds. Also I find it hilarious that Lara tries to not interrupt a fun family photo but just randomly steals someone’s map & car. Seriously Lara? Lol 😂.
I liked Tomb Raider So Much, Had Played Every Part And Was Hyped For Show But After Watching First 2 Episodes, Nah Cut It Chief But The End In This Video, W Sound Choice
I watched the show, and thank God, nothing predicted about Lara being "woke" was true. A very well-made transition from the reboot to the original LK. Im satisfied and wait for the next season
I love how some people in the comments are throwing around the word "woke" around like it's an actual criticism. There are probably actual flaws with this show that could be pointed out, but instead, you get mad over a gay guy and make an ass out of yourself. This is why media literacy and media commentary are dead.
So they have the gay man that no body ever heard of and never existed in the franchise know and handle things better then the prime female protagonist who’s supposed to be an expert in everything she does nearly all her life.
Out of all the changes they've done her looks i don't think are the problem at all I've hung out with some smoking athletic dames around and she's not that far off really And looks killer in a dress. As for her character i can't tell, i never played From what i hear she used to be more of a hardass
Just finished it, do not understand the hate This entire first season was about transitioning boring Lara into fun Lara and I enjoyed it It’s not a masterpiece or anything but Lara is pretty entertaining, Jonah and Zip are fun and the villain is really good The overall message is also quite good All in all this is a pretty solid first season, I want to see more Also yes she cries a lot but I never found it annoying
Ok i hate zips new design and character, but if that wouldve been a new character, idk maybe zips brother, i wouldve said damn hes got style. Incompetent decisionmaking netflix
Beside all the woke crap, I hate this specific kind of animation, it looks lazy and outdated, like 90s cartoons or He Man. In an age of Arcane this should be shunned.
The animation is definitely janky at times but its very nice to see something that isn't 3D or looks like shit like smiling friends or rick and morty. It's like American's can't draw.
i mean arcane had a budget estimated around 10 million an episode not to mention marketing, also made in 6 years. while this entire show would have been around 10 million in around 2 years

I trust Adi Shankar with my heart and soul, I hope to god he doesn’t ruin Dante’s character or any of the other characters in the dmc series. Please Netflix don’t ruin DMC!!!!
Dante is actually bisexual or whatever pronoun is new. It's the way of being a demon man, we gotta need some diversity for half demon as well, why only humans can do it? I mean have you ever seen him hitting on Trish? He must be gay
Can you imagine if that really ended up happening?
@@lllppeverywhere it will if it was directed by an indian
Adi seems to be a genuine fan of the games. The guy even reads the DMC novels and manga, you can see the references in the trailer.
@@lllppeverywhere unlikely, because showrunner seems to be fan of Dante X Lady
@@gary7867wow. Not like the first three seasons were directed by an “Indian” and they were pretty good. Casual racism just wow.
There are elements from both the Tomb Raiders, however its neither this nor that.
Ugh...what? My brain hurt reading that...
R34 artists have managed to amalgamate both Laras in the most perfect way.
....According to a friend of mine, that is :v
Don't call it a Tomb Raider, it makes the director uncomfortable lol
@@elgusaniiiodeljuego6823 I doubt they'll bother with this Larry Croft though lol

Why do they always have to emasculate the black man? They did not have to bring zip into this trainwreck of a series.
Slave morality 👴🏼
First Caucasians, then African-Americans, then… all men.

80s-2000s: black guy dies first
2010s-2020s: black guy is gay
As a modern audience member.... I am so glad I skipped over this show... these people are never going to learn
Justice has never been done to Lara. She is treated as an orphan by writers.
Lol, nice compilation. They made a mess of this.
No they didn't
@@animezilla4486 yes, they did
Goddamit, Netflix why….they had the blueprint in Castlevania, why couldn’t they do it here….
I'm a big Tomb Raider fan. I watched this series with little expectation, but I have to say that I actually liked it.
The following things bothered me:
-Lara cries too often and for too long
-Daddy issues
-she is framed for a supposed childhood trauma
Other things, such as Zip being gay, were also suspicious to me at the beginning.
(Episode 8)
@imogen_accompliceI mean the grifters do suck but come on. I’m playing tomb raider legend and the lara in this is a bit disappointing in comparison

1:29 Finally something good about the entire show
Me:I want Tomb Raider!!!
Netflix:We have Tomb Raider at home.
The Tomb Raider at home...

I like how everyone is surprised Lara is fully clothed especially that this is based off tomb raider reboot. Granted this show sucks but the grifters making issues of elements of the reboot is wild when they didn’t have a problem with it on the reboot trilogy run,why is it a problem now? “Thank youuu, it has POHKITS!”
I've seen enough. Thank you.
Someone who didn't play the newer games, I see.
It’s literally totally spies but tomb raider themed and somehow less integrity.
And without all of the Deviantart Fetishes.
@@samflood5631Are you saying that as a pro or a con?

This all couldve been avoided if they made there own lara croft instead of something that already existed
I feel people just forgot that she's a cool & a bit snarky femme fatale like Bond girls or Ada wong in ps1 & ps2 era
It makes sense to change her in the reboot cause it's her origin stories, but here?
2:16 What a…? Juri Han, it’s that you? 😆
Just don't call her "Lara".
lmao........token gay is the new black literally.
why anyone even let netflix taint their property its like they have a gay checklist
Lol 😂.
2:55 😂 (Her face) Oh Christ on a stick !!!!
I know right?! 🤣
I liked Tomb Raider So Much, Had Played Every Part And Was Hyped For Show But After Watching First 2 Episodes, Nah Cut It Chief But The End In This Video, W Sound Choice
Is the show bad? (I’m 0:26 in and about to head to work)
It sucks
I watched the show, and thank God, nothing predicted about Lara being "woke" was true. A very well-made transition from the reboot to the original LK. Im satisfied and wait for the next season
Didn’t even know a show for tomb raider was out and after seeing the comments I’ll just stick with the games
I can't believe this got nominated
It did 😳
There is only one thing i like about this show. The fact that her dress had pockets
I love how some people in the comments are throwing around the word "woke" around like it's an actual criticism.
There are probably actual flaws with this show that could be pointed out, but instead, you get mad over a gay guy and make an ass out of yourself.
This is why media literacy and media commentary are dead.
they got zip in a diddy fit that
UK To USA: Mate! What Did You Do ? 😐😐😐
So they have the gay man that no body ever heard of and never existed in the franchise know and handle things better then the prime female protagonist who’s supposed to be an expert in everything she does nearly all her life.
It's worse for me because this series are cannon to the reboot series, which I personally like.
Well, I know what I’m watching next

Lara: Maybe he's nice

Out of all the changes they've done her looks i don't think are the problem at all

And looks killer in a dress.
As for her character i can't tell, i never played
From what i hear she used to be more of a hardass
Just finished it, do not understand the hate
This entire first season was about transitioning boring Lara into fun Lara and I enjoyed it
It’s not a masterpiece or anything but Lara is pretty entertaining, Jonah and Zip are fun and the villain is really good
The overall message is also quite good
All in all this is a pretty solid first season, I want to see more
Also yes she cries a lot but I never found it annoying
Ok i hate zips new design and character, but if that wouldve been a new character, idk maybe zips brother, i wouldve said damn hes got style. Incompetent decisionmaking netflix
I mean after seeing what theyndid with resident evil im not suprised anymore
The hair stays put - Three-weather Taft 😂
I remember zip being a better character in legend and underworld
The character design reminds me of Boondocks. But with writing no where even close to that shows level.
Beside all the woke crap, I hate this specific kind of animation, it looks lazy and outdated, like 90s cartoons or He Man. In an age of Arcane this should be shunned.
Hire an Asian they sure know how to make animation look good oh i forgot the woke people is the true racist and sexist
The animation is definitely janky at times but its very nice to see something that isn't 3D or looks like shit like smiling friends or rick and morty. It's like American's can't draw.
i mean arcane had a budget estimated around 10 million an episode not to mention marketing, also made in 6 years. while this entire show would have been around 10 million in around 2 years
It's not that bad in my opinion. The style I mean, it has mistakes
Ok now yall just starting to nitpick. Not everything needs to look like Arcane or Spiderverse or 3D in general.
Weird direction really is what this story going so far even the game got the lore right
