  • Remdesivir & SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) | Mechanism of Action, Adverse Effects and Overview of Anti-Viral Properties
In this lesson, I discuss the antiviral known as remdesivir, including how it is administered, adverse effects of its use, mechanism of action, and an overview of the antiviral effects remdesivir has on coronaviruses like SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
    1) Brief Introduction to Remdesivir, including what it is and what it was originally designed to treat
    2) Overview of mechanism of Remdesivir’s anti-viral effects on coronaviruses like SARS-CoV-2
    3) Summary of some Remdesivir data in in-vitro and in-vivo (mice and rhesus monkeys) studies used in treatment of other coronaviruses like SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV
***EXCLAIMER: The content (ex. images) used in this lesson are used in accordance with Fair Use laws and is intended for educational purposes only.***
DISCLAIMER All of these mechanisms have ONLY been shown in in-vitro studies (in a cell culture plate), so these mechanisms MAY NOT translate to actual clinical significance in treating humans. Until we have data from a randomized controlled trial in humans, WE DON’T KNOW whether these medications have anti-viral treatment properties (against SARS-CoV-2) in humans or not! This lesson is for information purposes ONLY. Please DO NOT take this medication without consulting a physician. This medication may have serious adverse effects.
**This video is merely here to PRESENT INFORMATION from the studies quoted in this video - if people have an issue with the data, I would suggest they read over these studies and contact the experimenters/authors of these articles instead of leaving accusatory and inflammatory comments in this comment section***

So basically this is experimental as far as humans go. My friend is in hospital being given this med for 5 days. He has no idea its only experimental. I was given bamalanam also experimental, when I covid 19. My doctor said I needed it so I never questioned it. Now I have stage 2 kidney failure, liver, heart, lung, and brain damage. No one can tell me if the damage was from the experimental treatment or the covid

There isn't much selectivity between the virus and cell replication; however the cell can always print out more mRNA copies when it needs to (since it uses DNA as the template) while the virus only relies on its own genome, which is why there is a difference
And hey, a lot of medications kill cells to a certain extent but most of the time the effects are either negligible or mediocre

I don’t notice any adverse effects, it is marketed by a reputable “Supplement Company”, “Life Extension” to be exact. I did some research on Wikipedia and it seems to an effective anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal agent on most pathogenic organisms, but not all. The scientist say that it is effective against the current SARS covid-19 microbe. But like you said more testing has to be done. I live in New York City and I am a Licensed Funeral Director and I was in the thick of things during the peak of the pandemic, which was pretty much from Mid March all the way till the second week of May, I worked with no PPE just gloves maybe and I did not so much catch even a sniffle. But then again I also use “Black Seed Oil” and good “Liposomal Vitamin C” supplement and good Multivitamin and Multimineral supplement and a bunch of other supplements. I exercise and eat right and try to control my stress levels. Whereas my coworkers most but all caught the virus and recovered. I Thank God for helping me and family stay untouched by the virus both medically and economically. I appreciate the information that you provided to me. Thank You.

      @MrGsteele 4 роки тому

The lysosome disrupts the protein and lipid membrane of the endosome encapsulating the viral cell or cells, releasing the contents of the endosome (the viral capsules) into the surrounding cellular matter. Incidentally, Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine are alkaline, and can disrupt the functioning of the lysosome, keeping viral RNA captive within the viral capsule.

Yeah I'm still not well. Disability wasn't approved because they can't what's wrong I have no insurance and I can't get into to see a doctor and Disability just sent you to their doctors for questions and a few test like eye, coordination and blood pressure and whatnot.I still have I mean horrible chest pains and I can't walk down the street(I've gained about 100 lbs now so it don't help) but a week b4 this medicine I walked all day and welded for 12 hrs no problem.I walk an 1/8 mile without having to rest and my heart feels like it's going to blow up.I quit drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes but that's the only good thing to happen.I don't think I can work and I can't seem to get help so praying for Something I mean from God to help me feel like I'm not worthless and to feel like a man again.l both financial and PYSHICAL! I think it's over I spend most days plotting suicide.I had to sign something and stay a week for testing yet I never heard of the drug and was still dealing from after effects of covid and was half loopy from the meds.I only took it because my doctor said i was a good participant for it and his recommendation

Many of the current HIV drugs effectively inhibit the virus at different places. I’m wondering why we can’t look at these drugs to try and mitigate this virus since coronavirus uses same mechanisms to replicate its RNA and make its proteins.

    • @JamesBond-uz2dm

Remdesivir is an HIV med , it is four meds coformulated. Currently, I am taking three of those medicines, two protease inhibitors and an integrase inhibitor. I do not need the NRTI and my HIV viral load is undetectable. The integrase inhibitor (Tivacay) prevents the HIV from entering the nucleus of the lymphocyte, then making copies. I wonder if it could be used against the Chinese disease?

Remdesevir sounds a bit problematic because it prevents rna synthesis. On the flip side it's only for a few days, but I think it would also prevent the immune system from generating white blood cells during that time, or even the immune system working at all other than maybe a day's worth of cells ready to take on the virus. Does't sound like a great tradeoff at all

This is outrageous. Keep posting that we should not be responsible for paying for this drug, this was not our fault.

if i have understood... this medicine is going to be quite expensive, whereas both the Chinese and French virologist Didier Raoult have offered a very cheap medication, hydoxychloroquinine associated to a classical antibiotic. Just that the Big Pharma doesn't seem to appreciate. Since the French ministers of Health all have conflicts of interests (understand Buzyn for instance was paid by the Big Pharma for 14 years, her husband Levi was the big boss of the INSERM, the new minister Veran is very much implicated in big pharma connections)... I would not trust anything like that.
