I had klx140l. Decent but heavy for 9hp 209lb bike. Have 17 kx100, 25hp at 165lb. 10oz stealhy, rips me around at 170lbs on technical trails, fun bike, can't really compare them, maybe kx to 150r

One's a liquid cooled two-stroke with gobs of hp and made for racing. (My son has one, my gf had one, they're fast, even in stock form), the other is a heavy, slow, four-stroke trail bike that needs thousands of dollars to make fun, I've built many for customers. There shouldn't even be a comparison, ones an MX bike, ones a trail bike.

@@Kama.Boy.13 the first one they show is a KLX140 4 stroke trail bike, which is slow and meant for people to learn on. The KX85 or KX100 are two-stroke race bikes. They're fast bikes. As a dare I raced my gf's KX100 in the 250B class(not the fastest riders, but most of them could clear the triples and some were ready for A class. I smoked em on the KX100. I was 13 years younger and 165lbs, but I got the holeshost and they never caught up, I even got bored and slowed down to bang bars with someone but I was 3/4 of a lap ahead. So if you're new to riding, I still wouldn't get a KLX140 or 140L, just get used to the power and when it starts getting into the powerband. My kids 2018 KX100 was plenty fun with my 185lb ass on it last summer, and he could beat me on my YZ250 in the tighter spots. But mx is 20%bike, 80% rider. Ya can have the fastest bike but if ya have no skill it's useless.

I bought my sons a CRF50 and the older of the two who is big for a 9 year old has out grown it. We were looking at the 110s for him, he learned quick on it. I'd like to get me one. Thinking about the biggest 2 stroke or biggest 4 stroke. Idk which 1 is more powerful/faster.

@@Kama.Boy.13 a 450 4 stroke is a powerful bike, easy to go fast on but people think they're low maintenance, that's 100% incorrect. More moving parts, more $. A top end rebuild on a 4-stroke is in the thousands, a 2-stroke is $6-800 if a shop does it. Idk your skill level or if you're riding a track or trail, but a KTM 300XC has torque way down low and probably the best all-around bike. I ride track and trails and Yamaha YZ250's are the only bike I'll buy. I'm 38 now but still go pretty good, pass a lot of younger guys on 450's. Don't buy a 250f, smaller parts and higher RPM's, lots of maintenence and rebuilds, rebuilding them pays for all my machines! But the bike I always recommend is a KTM 250 or 300XC. Electric start 2 stroke, fuel injected so no mixing gas, and a lot of aftermarket parts. I love my YZ250's but they're pre-mix, no electric start, but great stock suspension and a ton of aftermarket parts.

@@jasonjaeger4042 yeah I see a lot of pros and cons riders mention with KXs and YZs, most on on the fence leaning towards YZs. I have never rode a dirt bike before but I don't feel overly confident about riding. I've seen a meme where "hard core riders" call people with electric starts pussies lol. Shouldn't it have a kick start as a backup in case the ES fails or is faulty? 450 has high maintenance eh? Idk if I could afford a several thousand dollar rebuild on a toy. I don't really feel like buying 1 2nd hand though because I don't know what it has really been through. In any case this all interesting and informative. I live in Hawai'i and believe it or not there's only 1 track and it's a pain in the ass to get there from what I gathered. I got tons of time to sleep on it. @homegrown96792osb is where you can DM on IG to talk more about MX. I'm talking all over the place. I digress. 🤙🏽🤙🏽

I’ve had mine for 5 or so years and it’s gone through 4 kids and the thing just needed a new chain and carb clean out, I’m the only one that’s really rode the bike hard and gave it a real ride and hit the rev limiter.

Not really, as a person who's buying a bike for my kids these are two good options. Before you say I've no clue I've been riding and racing 30+ years. They're two good options with different pro's and cons depending on what your kids doing and if they are experienced or not. Review makes total sense.

Alot more cheaper are the 2 strokes then the 4 strokes to do a total rebuild, however the 2 strokes you have to check and replace things more often then on a 4 stroke thats the annoying thing my personal opinon is that they stuff out easier then a 4 stroke even though they are alot more fun to ride. Have owned 2 strokes and 4 strokes.

The klx shares the same rotor and front brake as the klx 650 and there's a g model with 18" rear and 21" front tires, I don't know how he doesn't know about the 140g..

Kx 85 has more power and speed. 4 stroke engines are less powerful and a 140 is a 4 stroke. A Kx 85 is a 2 stroke and more powerfull

33% power increase than the previous model kx85, damn thats prolly just as fast as the previous model kx100. If you take 33% of 85 you get 28, and if you put that into CC's and add it to the 85 you get 113cc's. I know thats not the case but it sounds good lol.

Aussie Kawiman no not the klx trail bike. You will get used to riding it and get tired of how weak it is and regret getting it. KX 85 is the way to go. Farm or not. Unless your a slow kid who barely rides
