I jumped into the game to see what happened, they got the Egyptian Excavations AND temperance league, so they will forever be one of the world's most prestigious nations
There are a lot of nations that get a lot of potential in shattered world, for example Azerbaijan gets turkish as accepted, transylvania gets both hungarian and romanian, panama gets north andean and central american etc
The criticism of Vic3 at 4:46 is so valid. They really did take the most uninteresting parts of Vic2 and made an entire game out of it, while ignoring the actually interesting things
Yeah it feels like they made an entirely different game and just slapped victoria 3 on it , the only things that is related to the victoria series is the name and the time period
I'm kinda shocked that there are actually people who played Victoria II for anything other than the economic management aspect of it because in all other areas it was incredibly weak. As far as I was concerned the Victoria franchise is just Factorio but zoomed out.
@@hedgehog3180i know we joke about Paradox games being spreadsheet simulators, but Vicky 2 economics is literally just watching numbers go up with no relation to anything else
I agree with your criticism about micromanaging the economy in V3. It feels like I am pausing the game every few seconds to do something else. I wish they kept the V2 economic system and their exception for if you went communist planned economy which was late game anyhow. It really freed up a lot of time to focus on military and geopolitical matters.
Strangely enough, this was easily the most stable Victoria 2 game I've ever played, though I did end it ~30 years early. I don't generally show it in the videos, but usually I have rebels popping throughout the game, in this one rebels didn't appear once.

@4:45 you can let the capitalists build all the railroads and extend some factories. Basically promote capitalist pops to 0.1% minimum, lower taxes on the rich and don't worry about railroad micro until the end of the game. If you have enough of them they'll actually do it faster than you. Although I'm not sure if you can do it efficiently in the early game as russia.
I think it was called like primitive world or uncivilized world but it's interesting to play. Most of the Americas are uncolonized and you can become stupid powerful. Assuming you can civilize quicker than your neighbors
So, we're all going to collectively ignore Switzerland being 7th power.

I think taking on Sweden at game start is so useful with that high literacy, idk how much it raises Russia's literacy but I guess at least 5%
If you just want literacy then beating up Prussia makes the most sense, same very high literacy but more pops so it brings the average up more
