This helped me a ton! I just installed a cushcore trail for the second time today. First time took me over an hour. Today took me 10min, and was so much less frustrating!! The biggest help is understanding how to push the tire into the center channel of the wheel to help get the last bit of the tire on
Very nice! I mounted a set of these CushCore Trail inserts for the first time recently and it took me maybe 15 minutes per wheel to install everything following your older video. I’m liking these Trail inserts a lot.
Spot on! Beading up the tire prior to putting in the insert is key! I did this in May of this year with a Vittoria Airliner. The back tire I pre-beaded and the front I didn't. The front took forever for me to be able to air it up. That is a nice presta inflator you have! I have always taken the core out and manually held the air gun onto the value to pop the bead in place since I don't have a presta inflator. Great work Kyle! Also, great work in DC recently!
Great vid! Reminds me of the old mantra from my motocross days in regards to taking tyres off and putting them on, "start at the valve, finish at the valve" :)
Im not going to lie, after watching the earlier version of how to install those, I was like Im out hahha, this way mounting the tire up first and not counting your speed contest, looks so much better. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and share it with us all. Thank you and I hope yall have a blessed weekend. Dale
Interesting way of installing them and I may try this technique next time, But I've never had an issue installing them per their instructions. I only run the XC version, and I didn't notice if the one you installed has the cutouts like the XC ones do. But I always make sure the valve is in one of the cutouts since it makes inflating your tire or refreshing your sealant easier.
Perfect timing! Blew out a front tire yesterday (1/2in slice next to a knob). Time to permanent patch and put it back to work. Your past videos and guidance from Pat@SquatchBikes have been invaluable. Excited to tweak the process with your updated pro-tip.
I’m impressed. I’ve spent way too much time just getting the bead to set on Schwable tires! Then ended up at the bike shop the net day. We love their tires though.
Impressive. Took me 3 hours the first time (w/ rimpact pro), fingers sore for a week. I've gotten it down to around 10 minutes lately without a trash can, lever, or setting the bead. I never remember to position the logo though. Seems to bother others more than me.
I run Magic Mary tyres on my bike's front wheel. The first time I put one on (no cushcore) it took me way over the 5 minutes in this video 🤣It was painful! Literally, my hands were so sore I could barely hold the bars once I had the wheel back on. So, props for doing that and the cushcore in the time. I put a Hans Dampf on the rear. That was almost as painful.
That was good I was rooting for you through the whole install. I really like that color scheme on your bike nice colors. Also I use the same exact rim work station and have no friends for help on my installs. Good to see you doing well.
"If you have friends." Ouch Also, doing the sealant that way could have been huge messy if that bottom bead had a small break somewhere. Faith one out, lol, this time... Great video!
Thanks for the new technique, will give it a try next time. Just redid 3 wheels this last week and still really appreciate your video from a year ago that introduced me to the Cush Core Bead Bros...truly the best thing since sliced bread for handling DH and thick casing tires (and weaker hands/arms!)
Yep, that works. I can't allow sealant in the wild or I make a mess. My hand strength is not what it used to be, so I need leverage any way I can get it. I have done it that way the last 2 times (although I didn't seat the tire first) like installing a tube, but add the sealant through the valve after I set the bead and before I reinstall the valve core. Another step, but I have more time to do that than clean up a mess.
Great tips. I've struggled on some rims with CushCore. My Ibis Ripmo has an asymmetrical rim so you have to get the bead on the long side first or it's near impossible to get on. And I would use a syringe to get sealant into the tire as it can be less messy.
Never thought about it that way. Wow. Damn, thats a really good method. Now heres my challenge to you. Havent seen anyone uninstall a tire with a cushcore; on my end I just simply cut and rip the tires then install new tires… lets see.
This is the method that I use w/o the “pre” bead set. But the point is to use a tire and CushCore that has been setting in the sun and stretching the CushCore. For extra hands I use Velcro straps to hold in the CushCore as I insert around the rim.
Nice. Pre-stretched and sun to make the core a bit softer! I used your other videos as a guide for doing and I will have to try this method next time since I don’t have giant forearms.. Thanks.
i remember when tyres had a lot more resistance to them than what they do now, had to solve a puncture the othr day and was surprised how thin and lightweight the tyre was, th thing is several years of changing motorcycle tyres makes tubed tyres easy on bicycles
Thanks for the tips. Installed cushcore for the first time, not sub 5.....more like sub 13min but it would have taken me much longer if I had not seen your video. Cheers.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that has trouble getting that Park Tool inflator to seal with the valve. I saw your first video with the 5 gallon bucket and wondered why you didn’t use the tire installer- Rubbermaid edition. Glad to see it in use. Really does help me with that task. Question- why don’t you place the sealant in the valve core last? Does the crushcore block it?
those schwalbe tyre lever can help also!!!!! on the other side they have a clip that you can clip on to your rim to keep the bead seated on one side while you seat the other one!!!!!
Ok.., best video for installing cushcore hands down. 1st time over an hour, pinched pingers, super frustrated and had the local shops install afterward until this video! Less than 10 minutes to fully install new tire, valve and cushcore. Hey Cushcore.. pay this guy as your video is terrible compared to this one.
Hey Kyle , great video , How many gallons is that brute garbage can your using ? I tried doing it without one but it didn’t go so well , I need to get one of those .
This looks great. Couple of questions. You think this will work with vittorria airliner and other inserts too. I have a real struggle with mine. Where those carbon wheels. My bike shop told me that makes the job harder too
Any health update? My buddy had a similar incident and it has been an insane thing to try and deal with. Athlete, mid 30’s, never had health issues prior
I don't think it would take 4 minutes with DD or DH casing tires on a DH rim haha. I had FR560s on my old bike, just doing tire changes was quite a challenge, metal DH levers were necessary for those rims. Though I think these trail inserts may be a great option for more casual enduro and park riders vs the pro which is really aimed more at DH and enduro racers.
I (April) did install cushcore with at least a downhill tire and it was a little harder, but I got it done. I don't know how long it took me though, a lot longer than Kyle, but we were filming and I was learning a the same time.
Great tutorial! Could you give us some information about this bucket, please? What are the actual dimensions (height, diameter) and/or capacity? This bucket looks perfect for the job and I would like to buy one that fits best the size of your's.
Hey Kyle mate, is the trail a good one to go for? I've just got my new cube embt it's tubeless ready rims and magic mary on front and big Betty on the rear I've got muc off sealant there to through in the inner tubes just now but jsut not 100% on going tubeless yet GMBM jsut done a pro's and cons in it and showed the burping and sealant squirt when hammering down the trails what additional is that magic mary Purple lable that hard? Mines are orange soft addix
Hi. In your experience, do you think you could ride out on a flat on the XC version of cushcore? How about the trail? I've heard of people doing it confidently on the pro, but have been wondering about the lower weight models. Thanks!
What does a Cush core do? Do you run less air than regular tubeless? Or is it just to prevent going all the way flat? Do you still need a tubeless ready rim? I usually ride trails tubeless with like 20psi for low rolling resistance.
What am I doing wrong with the air compressor? I blow the tire off the rim every time. And if I turn down the compressor, then I can’t get the bead to set.
I haven't tried cush core or similar inserts yet. Maybe I don't ride hard enough to merit them? I run around 20 psi in my cross country tires and 22 with my E mtn. I don't have any rim damage or flats. Tubeless of course with Stans. Am I missing something ?
I think we don't ride hard enough, lol. I'm actually still on tubes, 23 psi front, 25 rear per the SRAM pressure calculator and my riding style. I do both the dry and wet calculation, average the two, and round to the nearest psi; since I certainly haven't got anything that measures with decimal points. I recalculate whenever my weight changes by more than 5 lbs. I've lost 70 lbs since I started mountain biking 4 years ago, and it's been great watching my tire pressures drop along the way. I used to just pump tires to their max minus 5 psi, this feels soooo much better.
This helped me a ton! I just installed a cushcore trail for the second time today. First time took me over an hour. Today took me 10min, and was so much less frustrating!!

That is so awesome, glad to hear it helped cut your time down so much!
Like a boss. That would take me all night. Then I would go to the bike shop in the morning to have a mechanic do it.
Haha that can happen!
It's ridiculous how easy you make it look! I remember fighting a tire on back in the days. My hands were sore for a while. 😅
Haha hopefully this will help you next time you try!
Very nice! I mounted a set of these CushCore Trail inserts for the first time recently and it took me maybe 15 minutes per wheel to install everything following your older video. I’m liking these Trail inserts a lot.
Awesome, hope this video will help you set a record time next time haha

Oh man!!!! That was awesome !! Somehow when I use sealant I turn into a painter. I get that stuff everywhere ha!! Great video April and Kyle.
Interesting way of installing them and I may try this technique next time, But I've never had an issue installing them per their instructions. This worked great. It took me about 20 minutes a tire, but it was my first time installing new tires with Cush Core. 🤘
Installing is the easy part getting them off is where boys become men
Incredible technique. Tried it tonight and it dramatically cut down my installation time. Thanks!
Perfect timing! Blew out a front tire yesterday (1/2in slice next to a knob). Time to permanent patch and put it back to work. Your past videos and guidance from Pat@SquatchBikes have been invaluable. Excited to tweak the process with your updated pro-tip.

We love Schwalbe tires too!
Thank you for this great video. Cushcore never looked so easy and approachable before.
Nice speed! This needs to be an official world cup event. DHI, Enduro, cushcore install.
haha yes!!!
Thanks. You have given me confidence I can do it. I am going to give it a shot.
Awesome!!!

Outstanding Kyle….. I love the operation and I never thought of stretching the cushcore…👍👍👍🤙🤙🤙🚴🏻🚴🏻🚴🏻🚴🏻🎊💥💥💥💥

Ouch

I feel like he was speaking directly to me there.

That's the best way! Thanks for the tips. I was able to do it so quickly!
Wow, back to the shop, I’m a first timer with Cush core😂
This was a fun way to present the process. Nice work as always, my dude.
Thank you!
Never thought about it that way. Wow. Damn, thats a really good method. Now heres my challenge to you. Havent seen anyone uninstall a tire with a cushcore; on my end I just simply cut and rip the tires then install new tires… lets see.

I usually just have my bike mechanic do it but this video certainly helps.
Haha that’s probably the best option
This is the way. Thanks for sharing!
That was pretty impressive. Reminds me of an old dukes of hazzard eposode where they change a tire in under 60 seconds.
Thanks!
Nice. Pre-stretched and sun to make the core a bit softer! I used your other videos as a guide for doing and I will have to try this method next time since I don’t have giant forearms.. Thanks.
Right on Kyle. This helped a ton. Appreciate the video
15 minutes and done, looks like tip to stretch helped. thanks )))
Pro Skills! Nice tips Kyle, Thanks.
i remember when tyres had a lot more resistance to them than what they do now, had to solve a puncture the othr day and was surprised how thin and lightweight the tyre was, th thing is several years of changing motorcycle tyres makes tubed tyres easy on bicycles
Do you know what casing you have? They do come in different thickness!
This also works for asymmetric rims too, but you want to unseat the tire on the short side of the rim.
Thanks for sharing!
I think it takes me 15 minutes just to install a new tire. Nice work :)
Thanks for the tips. Installed cushcore for the first time, not sub 5.....more like sub 13min but it would have taken me much longer if I had not seen your video. Cheers.
That’s a great first time!
That is a life changer! Thanks!
Happy to help!
I need a nap just from watching that.
Great tips! Thanks.

Yes that is so helpful!!!
Plastic garbage can FTW!… ergonomics matter .. thanks for combining all the best tips into one.. HNY!
I am allways amazed that people are able to pull a tire onto a rim without levers.
Got ya beat in under 5 hours . I think that’s a record 4 me
Hahaha
You Da MASTER!

Nice video!
I will yet again have to try cushcore lol
haha may the odds be ever in your favor!
Thanks
Very impressive, but as my dad used to say, 'Less haste, more speed'.
Hey Kyle , great video , How many gallons is that brute garbage can your using ? I tried doing it without one but it didn’t go so well , I need to get one of those .

I'm having trouble removing my tire, with cush core, can you make video with some tips

I usually ride trails tubeless with like 20psi for low rolling resistance.
Cushcore I so thin, how does that help with flats??? Or does it just save the rim???
The only time I tried it, it took me and my friend around 3 hours
Haha hope watching this will help speed things up next time!
For me, the fastest way and with the least swear words is to pay the local bike shop. 😊
haha that is a great method!
On the tyre levers you use, there is a springy clips thing on the handle end. What is that for????
It helps lock the lever onto the rim and on the side there is a notch to lock it into a spoke at the same time!
So how do you refill sealant with cushcore installed ?
You can use Stan's no tubes tire seal injector tool, it connects to your valve. Or you can just pop the bead off enough to pour some in.
Does the CC packaging come with a trash can and the perseverance?! 😎
haha
Kyle nice work but that thing its a pain, last week y changed 4 tires with CC and y hate that thing, cheers
Maybe this will help you next time!
What am I doing wrong with the air compressor? I blow the tire off the rim every time. And if I turn down the compressor, then I can’t get the bead to set.
What kind of garbage can do you recommend??
I want some dang
Pro Tip: Use very hot water in a tub to heat up the cush core and the tire. When they are hot this is really EZ.
Thanks for adding the pro tip! If it's hot out you can just leave it in the sun too 😊
I haven't tried cush core or similar inserts yet. Maybe I don't ride hard enough to merit them? I run around 20 psi in my cross country tires and 22 with my E mtn. I don't have any rim damage or flats. Tubeless of course with Stans. Am I missing something ?

Great way to wonder why your spokes are bent
Most Important Tool in the video...was the trash can! 🤓
haha yes!
Solid foam tube from HomeDepot does the same trick for le$$
next up: Fastest way to remove a cushcore :DDDDD
You forgot the part where you break your plastic casing on your tire lever and you leave it in the tire….
just go with Vittorio and save the money plus hassle,
Did you practice? 🤨😅 thats way to fast sir!
I figured this method out through trial and error and some cussing.
I wish I'd found this video first.
Fastest CC install I've seen
🤠
