- Опубліковано 20 жов 2021
- Whilst tracing her Danish roots, Dame Judi Dench discovers her x10 great-aunt served as a lady-in-waiting to the Queen of Denmark in the 1500s. This soon draws similarities for Judi as the royal family were based in Helsingor, which is also the backdrop to Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Truly a full circle moment. Imagine spending your life dedicated to the works of Shakespeare, to find out your ancestor was present at Hamlets court. Wow.
Elsinore or Helsingör
I believe that our personal interests have a direct link to our ancestors. It is biological memory.
@@sr2291 I should be a farmer then. Or extremely interested in cooking and knitting. I'm none of those things
@@helenaholmberg1987 Oh well. Maybe you will find ancestors farther back that you relate to
That’s insane. Wauw!
Can she be even more charming and adorable. She is so present and so interested, her eyes speak volumes. I have always adored Judi, she is a living legend.
She’s a true living legend, I’m sure she’ll be the first to laugh at that moniker and that’s precisely why we love her. She has zero pretense, true geniuses are down to earth and kind no matter their field.
@@007Julie I saw an interview of hers once where she talked about despising being called a “national treasure” lol
@@AL-fl4jk Dame Judy is just one in a million. Remember there are “celebrities” who think of themselves as living legends because they have a reality show and made billions selling crap to the most ignorant of audiences. And worst of all, those celebrities have the audacity to accuse hard working women that they don’t work hard enough because they aren’t billionaires yet. So despicable.
My grandfathers great grandma was a German Baronesses. She was a Descendent of Charlemagne, aka Charles the Magnificent. She gave it up to come to America. Her grandson helped establish along with Benjamin Franklin, the University of Pennsylvania. His picture hangs in the Smithsonian institute. Cool huh.
Pretty much any living person with European ancestry is related to every single person alive during Charlemagnes time including him
@@jtorola if you're a documented descendant of him and his queen it's a different story
It would have been cooler if they could have stayed in Europe and established their university there, left the Native people alive, the land intact, the Africans alone and the taken care of the poor Europeans because it has wound up in a human and planetary disaster. Everywhere touched by Europeans winds up destroyed and the blindness to it is never ending. It is ok to admit great wrongs were done for the benefit of a few. Name the Tribe where the portraits sit. Name the stolen African who served the signers of the Constitution where they waxed on about freedom. Not so cool huh?
Ultra-cool! Never forget your past! It defines you in the future!
What was her name?
I absolutely love her. She is so talented but so genuine. I would love to meet her & have tea. What a truly charming lady. Bless you , bless you, bless you.
I hope Dame Judi also finds her long lost relatives in Denmark and meets them. That will also be a great moment for her
Relatives live everywhere, not only in Denmark... 😉✌️
Whenever I want to see my late mother I watch Judi Dench. The resemblance, from head to toe, is amazing. The gestures, like holding her head that way. She even sounds like Mother doing an English accent. Lovely.
She always reminded me of someone I worked with years ago. Your mother's name Dolly by any chance?
@@millietunstall8616 No. It was Dori.
Me too. Dame Dench reminds me so much about my mom.
Me too! It’s something about how she looks at people….just like my Mum did.
She was English too.
It Was one of the best who do you think you are yet. She was so excited and in awe. Josh Widdicombe is an amazing watch too. One of the best seasons.
Argee. Both 2 of the best!
Who ever wrote the theme music track should get an award because it's brilliant!
this gives me goosebumps on a national scale. Judi I am so happy for you
Love your work Judi Dench.
Enduring and beautiful, senior woman.
Competent, accomplished and hard working.
Humble beginnings.
And talented, great, woman.
You have had an interesting career. Love you as M, in the Bond movies, too.
Wish I could watch the BBC1 shows in America. They are fascinating.
You can if you have VPN
I wish I could see the shows in Canada.
@@gaylereid8264 can you recommend any good ones?
@@belescli Dear Sofi Koz,
I don’t your tastes. One word, experiment!!! Sorry, Gayle
As TIME GOES BY my favorite
Such a lady always......
❤If their would be a list of best Actors around the world ,of all time ,she definitely would be at the Top. Love her as an Actor ,do not know her personally....🤗
My favorite senior actress.
I absolutely love this woman, such class, charm, character, beauty
Such a lovely person.
She is wonderful. One of my favourite ageless actors
She is so lovely the way she reacts..you can tell shes loving it and astonished but she just does those little quaint gasps of delight..such a beautiful soul.
Det er så dejligt.
Nej det är hon inte. Dansk långt tillbaka i tiden, väldigt långt tillbaka and hej hon hade inte en aning om det.🤥
A great actress and she was amazing as M in the some Bond movies.
I simply adore this lovely lady.
Ive seen her in a role that i cant get out of my head,so nice and so twisted evil at the same time. What an actress!
Excellent programme. Lovely story..
All of my grandparents were poor tobacco farmers in North Carolina. According to Familysearch my ancestors were descended from kings and queens from Scotland England France. I am sure most people who ancestors are from Europe can claim the same. I do think Judi Dench is wonderful.
The second (and after) sons didn't inherit. They went to the Church, the military or the colonies. Tobacco was a massive export originally, but tended to tie the families to the land. Overfarming and parceling out acreage to descendants reduced the size and quality of the holding. My farmers were in Stokes, Surry and Rockingham Counties.
American's just love Dame Dench. Just a natural beauty all ways round!!!
Mind blowing
Watching her discover all this information. I wonder how interesting it would have been to see her do this with her grandson Sam.
I love Judi in Cranford and Return to Cranford.
I found out my great grandmother was Persian. ❤️💚
Judith is a wonderful Actress...
Hi pretty lady. How are you doing today???
@Charming Jinx LOL! so funny and probably the most factual, accurate thing stated in this whole story!
Why can't we see whole programs?
They’re on PBS. I don’t think this one is on BBC America, but you’d have to check.
Very interesting indeed.
Hi pretty lady. How are you doing today?????
I would love to have my heritage traced.
My sHERo .... adore you Judy! 💙
Well.. you have to go back four generations to find Tycho Brahe's mother Beata Clausen Bille. She was the sister to Anne Catherine Stensdotter Bille's great grandfather Sten Clausen Bille.
More interesting is why Anne Catherine was married to Sir John Bolton Från Dublin. I guess the producers wanted to cause a sensation with Tycho Brahe. Bit of stretch , but guess this is how they want us to believe. Wandering around those areas of the danish archive is not allowed even for historical researchers as myself. That was reality TV. They are actually neither nor are they very pleasant or helpful.
👏👏👏💚💚💚💜💜💜👑👑👑
Oh please
She is the spitting image of my Nana. But Nana had red hair. That she dyed a light auburn until her passing.
PEASEEEEEEEE DO THE GUY WHO THINKS HE'S CHARLES AND CAMILLAS SON!
The only thing that would prove that is a dna test.
It would be so cool if the Queen would do a DNA test to see the results.
Hi pretty lady. how are you doing today??
"Our National Treasure" has blue blood from the land of blue cheese, huzzah!
I just love Judi Dench. She's so talented and I've never seen her in anything that I didn't like. Well, except Shakespeare in Love. I didn't like anything about that movie.
Long life, Dame Judi!
My ancestors are Adam and Eve.
Cool, eh?
Sorry I don't understand. Can someone explain please?
Helsingør in English is Elsinore - Shakespeare used the castle in Hamlet ... Dame Judi loves Shakespeare and played Ophelia in Hamlet as one of her first roles.... but the whole connection is so much more.
Isn't it "amazing" how many celebs are related to royalty? Or it?....mmm.
The Lady IS royalty xx
No, she isn't. If she were, she'd already know it. Being distantly and obscurely related to people who were indirectly descended from royalty, doesn't make you a royal. If it did, most of Europe would be royal.
we can go back to King Charles the 2nd I think it was.. my cousin had his tree done.. I think most english people can probably go back and find aristocracy in their gene pool
Maybe you can do it in 20 sec videos.
I mean 1:30 is way too long, isn't it 🙃
Yeah, maybe 2 minutes? I've just settled in, and it's over.
LOL! I feel ya.
😝
Really ? Brits are always so theatrical. Obsessed with class and status.
some people with special backgrounds always come to the forefront.
Don Rickles And His Farce Act Of Winston Churchill Does Not Make A Dame, This 50/50 Split Does
All of these famous people are related to royalty and presidents.
That's because if you go back 10 generations, likely everyone in Europe had a great aunt who was a lady in waiting in some royal court. It's really not that impressive. What is impressive is when they can find records and actually trace a connection, which most people cannot do because their families don't keep track or pass on family history. Go back 30 generations and every human on earth has the same great aunt who was a sheep herder.
@@charmingjinx9379 So true.
@@charmingjinx9379 Yes,that's why they act like them.
So are plenty of us anonymous peasants, lol.
80% of Americans are related to George Bush. Hardly any of them are famous. When everyone’s great-grandpa was one of 13 children, it’s hard not to be related to some royalty or president.
Seriously, who cares
She is part of the Dracula family
Creepy!
Brits are always so theatrical. Always obsessed with status and class. Throughout this series I noticed that British celebrities crave status and try to dispossess their humble roots. It's laughable.
If you knew anything about this you would know that has nothing to do with why Dame Judi is so moved. You are just showing your ignorance and your prejudice. Your comment tells us a lot about you and your reverse snobbery. One could almost call it laughable.
Says the person who watches Teal Swan....
Lmao. All actors and actresses are like that. You just described all actors in a nutshell. It doesn't matter what country they are from. How silly. 😂
....and your problem is???????
Really? All of us?🇬🇧wow you must know so many Brits😂
Of course she is. What I find pathetic is that they make it look so random. Dame Judy could never have been successful but for the fact that she is very much part of the elitist Cabal. Enough said...
is that how you justify not amounting to anything? That you are artificially held back by the Elitist Cabal? LOL - delusional, but whatever floats your boat.
