  • Whilst tracing her Danish roots, Dame Judi Dench discovers her x10 great-aunt served as a lady-in-waiting to the Queen of Denmark in the 1500s. This soon draws similarities for Judi as the royal family were based in Helsingor, which is also the backdrop to Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Remember there are “celebrities” who think of themselves as living legends because they have a reality show and made billions selling crap to the most ignorant of audiences. It would have been cooler if they could have stayed in Europe and established their university there, left the Native people alive, the land intact, the Africans alone and the taken care of the poor Europeans because it has wound up in a human and planetary disaster. Everywhere touched by Europeans winds up destroyed and the blindness to it is never ending. It is ok to admit great wrongs were done for the benefit of a few. Name the Tribe where the portraits sit. Name the stolen African who served the signers of the Constitution where they waxed on about freedom. Not so cool huh?

All of my grandparents were poor tobacco farmers in North Carolina. According to Familysearch my ancestors were descended from kings and queens from Scotland England France. I am sure most people who ancestors are from Europe can claim the same. I do think Judi Dench is wonderful.

The second (and after) sons didn't inherit. They went to the Church, the military or the colonies. Tobacco was a massive export originally, but tended to tie the families to the land. Overfarming and parceling out acreage to descendants reduced the size and quality of the holding. My farmers were in Stokes, Surry and Rockingham Counties.

Well.. you have to go back four generations to find Tycho Brahe's mother Beata Clausen Bille. She was the sister to Anne Catherine Stensdotter Bille's great grandfather Sten Clausen Bille.
More interesting is why Anne Catherine was married to Sir John Bolton Från Dublin. I guess the producers wanted to cause a sensation with Tycho Brahe. Bit of stretch , but guess this is how they want us to believe. Wandering around those areas of the danish archive is not allowed even for historical researchers as myself. That was reality TV. They are actually neither nor are they very pleasant or helpful.

That's because if you go back 10 generations, likely everyone in Europe had a great aunt who was a lady in waiting in some royal court. It's really not that impressive. What is impressive is when they can find records and actually trace a connection, which most people cannot do because their families don't keep track or pass on family history. Go back 30 generations and every human on earth has the same great aunt who was a sheep herder.
