This is my first "real-time" video after binge watching this channel for the past two weeks because I randomly searched for "fiberglass deck repair" and saw one of Mads' videos. Great channel, Mads and Eva!
Thank you so much! Welcome aboard. I'm glad you stumbled across our tiny little corner on UA-cam :)
Female sailor & viewer here; Ava's finds were all practical and reasonable. 😂 Who wants a crewmate who leaves wrappers everywhere? It's not like the rubbish bin is THAT far away in a boat. Glad you're splashed and ready for the next adventure!
Ava is so perky! Such a pleasure to see someone so excited about a mini-trash can! I’m an Ava fan.
She is about an 11 on the perky scale ;)
As a part of the 97% male viewer population, I loved Ava's haul of useful items >:)
Haha :D
Hey! I am in the 3% of the population! Just had to make a comment to show some support. I like the new mat, Ava.
Thank you so much for staying tuned :) Fun little bonus story. We hauled that mat all the way from the US and then Ava found a mat she liked better locally. Now we have a spare ;) We did not think they had those soft mats here in Trinidad but they do.
I have followed you soany years, and it makes me so happy that your drawing became reality. Much love, health, and happiness to you both.
you guys are adorable. Eva makes this channel so much better. and it was already the best channel on youtube. you guys rock !!!!
I loved Ava’s walk through of the kit especially explaining how she got around you justifying what she bought. Informative as usual. Thank you
Yea Ava’s back! Great episode, love the unpacking of goodies! I have been watching from Seattle, Washington, for years. I’m always delighted whenever another show uses Mad’s slogan “Oh, Glorious Sanding”… thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
3% represent! 😂 seriously, I love the tech doohickeys and even the man glitter… but best will be documenting testing the Cressi equipment! Fair winds and wishing you blowing happy bubbles. Congrats and welcome back Ava!
You've finally updated your Sail Life intro - much better 👍👍 Great episode - loved the Mr/Mrs banter :-)
As a trini living in Canada, I am always pleased to see good comments about Trinidad.
Mads makes the Channel good,Eva makes the Channel Great.🎉
Thank you :D From both of us :)
This episode was certainly much easier on the eyes. 😂
Too true! By the way, I shall from now on refer to Sail Life as ‘the Channel’ with a capital C👌.
So true!
You guys are just so much fun to watch! I've been a subscribed fan since the start of your Athena days and your videos just continue to get better and better. You're so genuine and down to earth and funny...pls don't ever change this style.
I've watched some bigger couples sailing channels for years as well and they have become so slick and "professional" that their videos lose some raw appeal to me. They feel like scripted commercial documentaries rather than simple recording of their lives for fans to watch.
Well done guys...keep it natural and funny and fun. This formula really works!!!
Oh don't worry I don't think we would know how to do that even if we wanted to ;) Thank you so much for staying tuned! :)
I was really hoping to see a segment detailing the installation of that kitchen rug. Maybe next week.
Also eager to see the follow-up report on the mini trash can.
I'm only half kidding. These are the things that make a boat home.
That would have been funny! 😁 I can already revel now that the mini trash can is in use. It took a bit of "training" but I'm a fast learner 😉
I think Ava definitely gets veto power for the kitchen!
"Sanding and sailing around the world". Words to live by!
Have noticed that huge smile on Mads’ face in this video! There’s obviously something to say about being reunited with your First Mate!. With all the “goodies” that Athena’ seams to have gained over the years, you should seriously look now at redefining her waterline!
Love your stuff. 👍🇨🇦
It's good to see Athena in "ship shape and Bristol fashion". Welcome back woman!
If in a three phase + neutral grid, let the power between any two phases be 220 Volts. it follows that the power between one phase and neutral is 127 Volts. I guess that's what you measured. They do it like this in Brazil: they call phase to neutral "monophase" or... "110 Volts" but deliver 127 Volts. If this is your case, you can get 220 Volts there connecting to two phases instead of phase and neutral.
I hope this helps.
That makes perfect sense :) It's just a bit of a bummer when the isolation transformer is wound so that anything above 127 is too high on the secondary side. Seems like maybe a bit of a product design flaw. I think what we might do is to add a second inverter/charger so that we also have 115V outlets on the boat and can charge in marinas like this one :)
One needs to be very careful that the wiring is designed to accept two hot phases at 220v (208v on 3-phase Wye) The European 220v is one hot (ungrounded) conductor and one neutral (grounded) and it essential that both conductors be fused and not grounded anywhere on the primary side of the iso-xfmr if connected to a multi-phase system.
Caution is required indeed.
It's great to see Ava. She's as light as a feather.
Welcome back Eva! So glad you have returned to good ol Athena! Cheers from East Lansing MICHIGAN! Go LIONS!
So glad you have also updated the intro. Yes it's a minor thing but with your level of detail in all your work that previous intro was standing out.
So great to see Athena back in the water and both of you back onboard! Super fun video! 😃
great update and what an anazing deal with the dive kit well done on the sponsorship
Thank you so much :) Yeah, it feels like we won the lottery with that one :)
OOOOH New Intro! Nice. Welcome Back Ava!
I like it, but it's still too long. I like just the wave sound.
I've been wanting to make a new intro for a long time but it's always been pushed off :)
I think an into is helpful for new viewers to set the stage :)
@@SailLife No its fine! I had the old one memorized thats how I knew it was a new one. Keep doing you Mads with your O'Glorious Intro.
@@SailLifeYes, I guess it is. I always skip over it.
Love that she is back. Mads seems to have a little more heart beat. Love to all.😂
This was a fun video. It was great to see Ava back and the boat splash again. It's my birthday today and this was a nice present. Thank you
Its great to see Ms Perky Ava back on the boat. If she was anymore perky, they could seemingly run the boat off her everlasting perkiness.
The outtakes left me with a smile. Nice video as always.
Love the new intro💥
Thank you! :D
She's backkk!!! and oh that was I think a oohh glorious pleasant and funny episode😂😅🎉thanks E&M❤❤
I like you two. I love the tech part, the DIY and the explore that you do. Thank you from Denmark :-)
Great to see Ava back. You guys get on so well, alike but different, a little bit of tension once in a while but clearly so much love and companionship.
Yea Ava! I love the girlie goodies! You add spark to Mads life and the videos! Glad you’re back!
Nice to see Ava back and suitably impressed with all the neat project Mads got done while she was away. Of course with Ava back that means Mads has to act a bit more civilized and stop leaving man glitter about the boat, but I'm sure he's up to it.
As part of the female 3% of the viewers I must say, that the Wera tools and the 3D printer are awesome.
Keep the filament dry.
3%-er, and I am all about that rug. If the cook isn't happy, ain't nobody happy.
always good to see a Sail Life video. the trash can is genius, don't let him tell you otherwise... :)
You got that right! ;)
Very happy Ava is back on the boat. Love you Man, but she's way more entertaining. Go Lions.
Mads, you had a cameo on this week's episode of Odd Life Crafting! Yeah, at the end of the episode they showed you saying "See You"! You have become an icon in the sailing community. New shirt design: See You! :¬) Webhead USA
Haha, that was a cool surprise 🙂 Duca and Roberta are the best ❤️
I have been watching Roberta & Duca from the beginning, even watching them fit out a shipping container for their home. They abandoned the project to begin work on Odd I've been watching you for a long time as well. Your channel is a boat version of This Old House or Ask This Old House. Yeah, another shirt design = This Old Boat!.:¬) Webhead USA@@SailLife
Um… Eva is so entertaining. Love this reunion!
I sincerely believe the dustbin is a must. Stylish and ,,,,,,,. Very good.
Your updated introduction is fantastic! Love that ❤ sanding and sailing around the globe ⛵️ - honestly the under desk brace you took off should be white. You have equipment under there, if varnished it would draw attention to that area which I doubt is what you’re going for.
Thank you so much :) There is just stuff under there temporarily :) It's all the stuff I need for service the engine next week.
Lovely to see you back Ava, and well done for making the boat a home... it sounds like the little bin is an essential bit of kit, tut, tut Mads! We have an isolation transformer, I must check the specs on it!
Love watching every episode and the fact that Ava’s from Michigan and Madd is Danish makes it great for this Michigan born Danish sailor. 3 months to splash down in the true northern Michigan Upper Peninsula. Gallivant 36 Catalina Escanaba, Michigan
Great episode as always great to see Ava back ❤
Thank you :)
I think you will need a bigger boat for all your accessories. Nice to see you back together.
Indeed that is the plan :) We're looking for a new project boat around 50-60 ft.
@@SailLifewith a boat that size, one of the rooms could be an entire workshop filled with tools!
@@waterfaucet9926 That is my secret dream! ;)
Great info, funny presentation. Nice to see you both laughing at each other again.
Thank you so much :)
Welcome back Ava, love the outtakes
Thank you!
I LOVE THE OUTTAKES!!!!!
Hopefully, after the last fiasco with Fisher Panda, they'll be more inclined to actually provide decent service. Welcome back Ava!
To their credit Fischer Panda has been super fast to reply lately. I got an explanation of what went wrong (customer service) and it sounds like they have made improvements :) Now all I need is a working genset ;)
@@SailLife for me I would say that the only way that Fischer Panda can come out of this debacle with any dignity is to send a representative from head office, with a completely new unit, and for them to take ownership of the problem on camera and explain how they will stop it happing again This should be backed up with a further verifiable interview in a year’s time to demonstrate how their solution to the customer care problem is progressing. Every business has its problems but it is how they own up to them and fix them that is important to future customers.
Thanks for nother great episode, I really like the new shortened introduction segment; looking forward to your Caribbean adventures.
Eva's back!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
God bless you for calling them "fins", if I heard one more person calling them flippers I would loose my mind.
"Dust is a sneaky bugger"
Truer words were never spoken
True! 😂 Wait until next week when you see what the dust did to our NAS box 😱
Ava’s “crap” will make life more comfortable for everyone 😊
New intro time!!!! And, even better....Ava's back!
love it!
Considering all the Fisher Panda CS problems, let alone parts issues, a truly reputable company should replace the entire unit with a run-in and fully tested unit. Barring capacity issues, you would probably been better off with the "itty-bitty diesel" generator. 😅
Welcome home Ava
Capacity would have been an issue with the itty-bitty but it would have been really nice to have build every part of the genset myself so I could easily fix it. That might be the best option for the next boat :)
New Year, New Intro! ❤
😂 welcome back Ava love the outtakes LOL
Nice to see Ava back. your dynamic make it fun to watch
Yay Ava is back! That generator is the gift that just keeps on giving isn't it? Fisher Panda are not looking great that its still broken after all these months. Do you think they just don't care?
new intro! new hair for Ava! new beard for Mads!
Love the new intro!
Thanks :)
Ava is back!
Love the outtakes!
Welcome back, Ava!
Thanks :)
3%er here. I love your channel!
Thank you so much for staying tuned :D
Dream team is engaged,start sailing!😂
We will very soon. We have a few experiences in Trinidad to check off the list but then we'll start heading north :)
268Vac is a lot. If you encounter this more often you can think about changing the first and secondary coils around on the isolation transformer. You'll end up with 237Vac instead. Originally the winding ratio adds 6% to compensate for voltage loss.
Ava has really loosen up! Well done! Even singing now 🙂
Like the new intro!
Thanks :D
yes! 3d printer, I have the same one! its a hobby i got into during covid and I've been waiting for a boating channel to get into 3d printing! Its a hugley useful tool! Make sure to keep your filament dry on the boat!
Nice to see you back Eva like the hair.
😊 thank you
Enjoyed all the family back together again!
Welcome back, Ava😀
Thanks :)
AVA's BAAAACCKK! You guys are such a cute couple. Will we get an update on her travels?
She sure is back! The boat smells horrible now - all soap like ;) She has just been working with her sister in Budapest. Not a lot of exciting stuff :)
Like the new updated intro…👍
Nice new intro!! Lovely and short but still great!
So nice to see Ava! Love your new cushion covers and rug. (Love your hair, too. 🥰) Nice printer. 😎❤️❤️❤️😎
I need that adorable cup holder trash can; for my car. Thanks Ava.
Welcome back Ava.
Glad that "she'sssss Back"!
My favorite sail channel
I think more than 3%!😂 Glad Ava is back!
love the 3d printer on the boat... I always said to my wife that this thing would need a place on our boat
Love the new intro! 😃
Glad you like it! :)
I’m completely with you Eva about the little trash can! And the mat for your galley. But the air conditioner! Indispensable!
Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
Thanks :)
Laughed at the big bottles for shampoo and conditioner, definitely not for Mads 😂
See you 👍🏼🥰 Nice to have Ava back
Glad to see you back!
Thanks! It's good to be back.
You guys have some crazy stuff on that boat 😂😂😂
I was thinking of a 3d printer for when I have a boat so this has me excited
Welcome back.
Great to see you back together again
Thanks! Feels good to finally have the band back together :)
I'm extremely exited about you having a 3d printer, I can only imagine the great doohickeys Mads will be designing and printing, I seldom see very innovative designs.
Welcome back Ava
Thank you :)
Woo, this is gonna be spiffy!
Thanks :D
Nice Video welcome home Launch Time baby !,,,
Indeed :D It's so nice to be back in the water.
