    These are great videos! Even though I don't have a mini split, I have been following the technology for a while. Especially when I started traveling outside the US and mini splits are the norm. At my home I have a typical central A/C system, but when I replaced it I upgraded to a 2-stage with a variable speed blower, which is an ECM Blower just like mini splits have. It is truly amazing that the only sound you hear with ECM is the air moving, not the sound of the motor at all. What I like about mini splits is they are truly zoned (in a way, so were window units), unlike a central a/c with just one thermostat trying to control the temp of the entire house. Heat gain varies throughout the day as the sun moves and heat sources vary within the home. Mini splits handle that nicely. Even with central A/C zoning, you can't go down to a single room. In a previous video you mentioned the issue with thermostat being in the unit itself. With Mitsubishi you could get the wireless wall thermostat. Was that an option, or have you basically gotten used to the temperatures?

      Yeah the wall thermostats we’re an option but we decided against it because these units have the sensor that can see objects in the room and and adjust accordingly, I hope in a future video I do get the wall mounted thermostat though, I think it will add WiFi to the system .

    I had bad ant problems... then I cleaned my roof gutters which the previous owner had neglected. There was a lot of debris in those gutters and the big ants had a constant supply of water from them. After cleaning the gutters, the ant problem went away real quick. Also I used some "terro" ant killer treats for them.

      Yeah cleaning the gutters takes away their home and food supply most likely, good advice thanks.

    The electric bill explanation was action packed also, Einstein would have trouble keeping up. My tilt light came on half way through!

    Thanks for the videos on your Mitsubishi system. I'm getting one. My installer didn't sell me a hyper heat model, and I hope I don't regret not having that. My primary concern was AC. Wanted to get rid of window units. I use a propane fireplace for heat. Intended to just have the heat pump as a backup heat source. But now I'm wondering if I should've went hyper heat and used the heat pump as primary.

    • @J-Mart
      @J-Mart  4 роки тому

      I think the differences are minor between the two, below 32 degrees Fahrenheit the efficiency drops on both, but the main reason I went with hyper heat was the rebates. Thanks for the great comments!!!

      Propane is by far the most expensive way to heat. The sales pitch is that the prices vary and it's a lot like natural gas, but it's around four times as expensive per MBTU. Right now NH.gov tells me that resistive electric is $47.90/MBTU, propane $40.40, oil $19.44, heat pump $19.16, natural gas $12.53. But that is based on an oil price of $2.15 and I can get it today for $1.65 and paid $1.69. So my last fill was $15.28/BMTU. If I could get natural gas for heating that's the way I'd go, and for a generator too. Propane companies have really greedy practices, we only use ours for cooking, so they wanted to charge an annual fee of $200, unless we used more than 200 gallons a year. So, spend $600 on gas, or $200 plus our actual use. They offered to sell me the tank for $1200, about twice what a new 125 gallon tank costs. So now I have two 100 pound tanks, which I own. I should get more than a year per tank at the rate I use gas.

    What kind of savings did you see in your oil consumption using the heat pump?

    • @J-Mart

      It's hard to say now that oil is over $6 a gallon, and electricity is also on its way up. I'd say at this point oil is way more money.

    what do you use to insulate the hose attached to the portable unit?

    • @J-Mart
      @J-Mart  Рік тому +1

      I used r-11 fiberglass insulation than wrapped it in aluminum foil to keep the loose fibers from getting into the air. Thanks!

    If you kill you should eat it...now that would've been a viral video...lol..just kidding. Awesome information especially if someone is interested in buying new AC units. The deer was a nice touch. Love the video Bro...good job!

      My dad said the exact thing when I got my first gun at age 12, and I never shot a living creature unless I was planning on eating it lol. The deer 🦌 was an added bonus, just happened to peak out the back window while editing. Thanks for the great comments too!!!

    The portable air should be the worse. I have all 3 types too. I believe the mini split is the best and window is 2nd. The LG portable sucks because the hose pushes out air from inside and you have to suck in air from outside thereby making you have more air to cool. The other 2 units cool the hot side with air from outside. So those 2 units do not have to cool new air being sucked in.
