I believe all the grey and red wires across the whole car are for the orange illumination. There's an identical wire on the headlight and foglight switch plugs that also illuminate the orange lights. I used the one on the fog light switch as a power source for a relay to activate a set of Hella 550 driving lights so they would only be available when my headlights are on.
E39 are awesome cars! It’s these lil details that just make them even sweeter!! Did the back windows have the retractable shades and doesn’t that change any of the retrofitting? More e39 touring videos!!
if you ever have time you should make the wiring detachable with blade or pin connectors since window regulator maintenance is almost inevitable with e39's, like easy access, so you dont have to detach the bulb every time.
Yeah! There's a little connector on the back of the bulb it comes out easily, so I didn't feel the need to add any more connectors. The cars with illuminated door handles from the factory worked this way, so I just copied it! Thanks for watching 🙏
You have to shorten the plastic on the screw hole of the door opener a little, then the light won't shine through. Compare e39 with e38 and you will see the difference.
I hope this message reaches you, so I have been on your videos before for the drying process… 😂 but now I broke my inner driver door handle, and guess what I have the other model not the hook ones, an idea whatever I can do? Since also the wire which opens the door is not in place anymore, hard to explain without a picture..
Hey - not related with this video - but can you advise what software/hardware should I use to connect to the E39 and diagnose all the electrical/motor errors? Thanks
Hi Chris good morning ..Hey Chris i have a technical question i want to upgrade my regular stock brakes front and rear on my 2003 e 46 325i station wagon to a bigger ones ... any info or direction you can feed me please ..Thanks a Lot.👍
Hey Eduardo, I'm not the smartest on this, but here's a good forum post you can check out: www.e46fanatics.com/threads/the-comprehensive-e46-brake-upgrade-guide.1108527/
When you test voltage when engine running, is it for 12v, 13.5v ?? Looking to do similar, but for compartments in door cards. Need to source either 620ohm or 560ohm resistors.?? Anyone experienced that?
I did this mod on my 2002 530i. Barely noticeable. And yet... I'm super glad I did it. It modernizes and upgrades the car. Worthwhile. :-)
When you think about it, then it’s not really barely noticeable it is noticeable 😎😎😎 pretty sure u got more than one compliment on it🫡

Top retrofit, that was one of the first things I did on my touring. Now without it, it wouldn’t feel right 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Really 4 more days 😪 I want to see it now lol that looks good 👍
Excellent upgrades always ..Chris i am looking right now you
My e38 came with these. Now you have to do the exterior handles so when you unlock they light up!
woah 🤯 you've got me thinking....
@@TheBimmerBarn I was hoping to blow your mind!😁
Awesome retrofit Chris.
Cool retrofit. I might look into this one down the road
If you own an E39 you have to do it!

They look really nice 👌 I'll do it on my e39 graet video man 👍

I might just try and make these

Here's a video with my favorite scanning tools, I would recommend option 2 or 3: ua-cam.com/video/NbQWqmWc5qg/v-deo.html&
I have the same set up, anyway I can get brighter bulbs for it?
Do you know if they fit the e46 too?
Hello do you know name on that scanner where you scan the wires?
great job brother as always. dude where did you score that manual m5 wagon and for how much???
I built it from the ground up! Check out my M5 Wagon playlist on my channel 😊
I believe it can also do it on e30 door handle too
you can do it on every bmw til 2005
Do you know maybe if I retrofit on e38 door handles along with whole door wiring harness they will work ?
Awesome all the videos we love BMW...ia agree with you 💯
Thanks Eduardo ✌ Appreciate your positive comments
Hey, Really Nice upgrade Love the videos, any chance of getting my hands on these set for my car ?
Check your local junkyards, ebay, or facebook groups for E39 parts! Good luck :)
are those splice connectors reliable long term and is the process reversible?
Very nice upgrade Chris. I love it. Dutch regards, Nico.
Thanks Nico!
Nice job.
Thank you! Cheers!
