This movie has been overlooked and it's fantastic! Brilliant performances by Dame Julie and Daniel Massey. Unbelievable score and musical numbers. Don't miss it.
An incredibly brilliant performance of Julie that speaks volumes of her world class creative genius of an artistry! Versatile & so very beautiful! Love her persona , she's perfect , she inspires! What a lady!
Over the years we came to know Julie Andrew's range better as she tackled dramas and comedies that moved her further away from that incredibly strong image she had in the mid-sixties. I'll admit, STAR was a surprise to me at 15 because I went to the movies wanting Mary, or Millie, or Maria. Instead, here was Julie Andrews playing a very different role. Now, when I got back and look at STAR! (which I do frequently), I can just revel in its excellence. It's so great to hear everyone, 25 years later, remembering the experience of making the movie with such fondness..
The director of this film was Bob Wise, may God rest his soul. Mr. Wise had collaborated with J.A. on "The Sound Of Music" and also helmed many classic films, such as "The Andromeda Strain" and "Star Trek: The Motion Picture".
