With regards to Alexander’s quest line- in my first playthrough of the game I never encountered him in limgrave or Liurnia, I just met him at Redmane, talked after the Radahn fight, then went to his Mt Gelmir spot and had zero issues with completing his questline. I know everywhere online says you need to free him but I’ve done the same two more times since, and all times I’ve been able to complete the questline without freeing him from the holes.

I just finished the Pure Int build. Your guide helped, but I ultimately just didn’t have much fun with it halfway through. I think I’d have much more luck with a weapon based Int build like this one. Thanks again for your videos! One more build suggestion. All your videos so far have been about OP damage. Maybe OP survivability is worth a look? So yeah, I’ve had a lot more fun with this build, and I haven’t even gotten the Greatsword yet. The Carian Knight’s Sword is fantastic. It’s fast, has a long reach, does a lot of damage with Int. And when you can get off a fully charged Grandeur, it absolutely wrecks! Even an uncharged Grandeur will do decent poise damage, and cause human/omen enemies to get knocked down. It’s actually possible to get it even earlier, if you wanted to torture yourself! Theoretically you only need to fight Red Wolf, Renalla, Loretta, Radahn and Astel. But I think getting it here is a nice pace for most players. It really is such an awesome game. Thanks for watching!
14:05 since you asked for tips, in this exact part, you can talk to Alexander on top of the big rock next to him, so you won't need to keep healing during his dialogue
Awesome vid. Absolute S tier quality. But there’s only one way to do a Darkmoon GS build. After prep, grab Moonveil, rest at any grace in Altus activating Redmane Festival, straight to Radahn, Ranni’s quest. Then go directly to Stormveil for the proverbial Margit beat down w/ Moonlight/Darkmoon GS. Now that’s Darkmoon GS early. Since they patched the glitch anyway. Awesome job mate, cheers to your success and really glad I found ur channel.
Beat Elden Ring as my first Soulsborne game today, and started following this guide around the time I got the Dark Moon Greatsword. I had an absolute blast piloting the build- melting boss health bars scratched all the right power fantasy itches. Didn't use the Helphen's Steeple much either, as I personally found it took a little to long to rebuff both swords. Oddly enough, I think my favorite fights that run were Melania and Godfrey/Hoarah Loux. I had to play a little more patient versus them and be more aware of what openings I could take to smack the boss with my large stick. Love the videos too, they're very well edited, incredibly comprehensive, and yet fun to watch. Keep it up!
After spending 11 hours fighting Malenia with the Moonlight Greatsword, I do like that one can use R2 from a safe distance to bait Waterfowl Dance. Spamming the beam during Scarlet Aeonio is also nice. One put can get 4+ hits easily while she's vulnerable after the move.
I'm pretty late but if you wanted to kill Rennala earlier, rocksling is the only spell you need as it does physical damage. I used it in all my int playthroughs.
Рік тому
yeah, with rock sling and meteorite staff rennala is trivial
Another note about Alexander’s quest line, in my experience there’s only 3 required encounters. 1. Radahn 2. Mount Gelmir and 3. Faram Azula. I’ve done it this way on 3 separate play throughs and from what I can tell, all other encounters are optional
Same. I thought I missed out because he wasn’t at the first 2 spots when I decided to start his quest late in the game. I didn’t know about it. I went back to the Radahn battlefield and he was there. Then the other 2 as you mentioned and still got his shard.
One thing for you that don't want to use Radagon's Scar Seal The Arrow Reach Talistan, for some reason, works on the Beam. It will make it go further than usual if you want to keep the distance from enemies
this video is nearly two years old but another method for people who just really like the dark moon greatsword but want the damage that comes from a powerstancing playstyle, i used the flamberge on a cold affinity. it has decent scaling, but more important does both frost build-up AND some bleed. it was the first run of the game i ever did and the damage is just insane.
Honestly killing Bernahl at the war masters shack early on gives you his set which is pretty defensive all around honestly (better magic resistance than carian knight’s set)
Dude you make some of the best Elden Ring build guides by far. I've currently been enjoying the dragon communion build you made and that's been great, but it looks like I need to do another playthrough already lol. I'm really looking forward to your future build guides.
I have also been playing that one and it's been great. I decided to use the claw over the maw to see what it could do and the claw is great when you have longer openings to chain into attacks.
Thanks Thingfishy, this was great timing! I've been trying to do my NG+ Dex/Int run without summons and was stuck on Godfrey. Watched this vid, swapped to Moonlight Greatsword, beat Godfrey and have now slain Radabeast! Only Malenia to go, but I think she's a bit beyond me still. Missing your streams but loving the vids!
Hey mate, another great video. Couple of runs I really enjoyed recently, beastial incantations using the clawmark seal and the regal beastclaw weapon, strength focus with about 30 points in faith, and a crucible knight build using the aspect of the crucible spells with ordovis' greatsword, lots of fun, really easy even on ng+, malenia vs a crucible knight is the easiest fight i've ever had.
The dark moon greatsword is such a cool weapon! Watching you fight morgott reminded me of my 1st play through when I was really bad and could not do decent damage at all and then got the sword and was in shock at how much damage it did compared to my much weaker starting spells that I was still using.
You don't have to go through the study hall, or get the Cursemark of Death in order to progress Ranni's questline. You can just go to the tower and take the teleporter.
I absolutely LOVE these builds and videos! If I could offer some feedback, time stamps would be amazing and if you could pause a little longer when you level and allocate stats that would be great. Even after playing Elden Ring, my reflexes are a bit too slow to pause the video at times haha!
It took me a while to realize but something about ThingFishy reminds me of listening to CamelWorks talking about Elder Scrolls and Fallout Trivia. It’s nice and relaxing.
33:20 Quite old now, but for malenia waterfall, you can just dodge the second part by just walking sideways, and the third just step like 2 steps backwards and she misses everything. Her attacks are designed to catch your dodge, but second and third if you just sidestep, they don't even hit
Hey there, I don't know if it has been mentionned, but to progress in Seluvis quest, you don't have to buy any of his sorceries. You just have to reload the area 2 or 3 times (talk to him each time) and you'll be able to buy the second puppet. It will allow you to save a nice amount of runes to upgrade your weapons or to level up.
My first time beating the game solo was duel wielding the moonlight greatsword in my left hand, and the sword of milos in my right. I would use the ash of war on sword of milos to make frost and bleed build faster. It was hard to find windows to attack with most bosses. but when I did, it caused health bars to disappear.
Sorcerer Rogier's Spellblade set (which you get by progressing Ranni's questline) increases the damage of Magic and Cold Ashes of War, which includes both the Carian Knight's Sword and the Dark Moon Greatsword. It's also pretty light - in fact, it's even lighter than the Astrologer's starting armor set for those 1.07 juicy light rolls. The only thing you'd have to add to the run would be killing the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the basement of Stormveil Castle, which is a rather small detour for a permanent 8% damage boost.
@@cameronhubbuck Yeah, you right. I forgot that Rogier teleports to the Roundtable Hold after you kill Godrick, whether or not you progressed his questline.
I actually followed on your Pure Intelligence build, but then started levelling up beyond your guide, and I added the Dark Moon Greatsword to it, as a means of conserving some FP, as because I thought it matched the build. I'm still throwing rocks for the most part, but seeing how the Greatsword is so useful, I might change that around.
Armors that I personally recommend: -Iron Set (only as a replacement set if you DON'T start as a Vagabond) -Knight's Set (replacement for Iron Set or Vagabond Set) -Raging Wolf Set (Defense of the Vagabond Set with the fashion that became the face of Elden Ring) -Scaled Set (Better than Iron, Vagabond's, Knight's, and Raging Wolf's in every single way save for fashion, depending on taste) -Beast Champion Set (one of the best early set, granted you don't go through the pain of grinding Banished Knights) -Tree Sentinel Set (strictly better than Beast Champion's Set but heavier and harder to obtain) -Crucible Axe/Tree Set (both are amazing, especially for their weight, a bit tricky to obtain early but also buff Crucible Incantations by +4% per piece) -Banished Knight Set (pretty sure this is the best armor set you can get early on but grinding it out is an absolute nightmare) -Radahn's Set (nearly identical in stats to Banished Knight Set, much easier to obtain, roughly similar weight. -Veteran's Set (chunkier than both Banished Knight's and Radahn's armor) -Banished Knight Set, not altered (strictly better than the altered variant but can only be grinded from two red-eyed banished knights in Castle Sol who are wearing it) -Bull-Goat's (duh, this is the highest physical and poise related armor.) My Personal set up: -Banished Knight Helmet (unaltered) -Banished Knight Armor (unaltered) -Bull-Goat's Gauntlets -Bull-Goat's Leggings.
Watching the Lake of Rot segment, did you know about the trick to reduce damage? Go into the water, roll, let it build up most of the way, then exit the water and it'll keep going up. But now you'll have normal rot instead of the accelerated rot that the lake inflicts.
This is why my life, skin complexion and disposition improved when I removed my flasks from the task bar and put them on the left and right directional keys of the quick select bar.
Doing this run now as well and DMGS is truly one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Only downside is its slow AoW, which makes some faster fights and Godskin gank fight a bit harder. Nonetheless, I just rocked the meteorite staff and rock sling (pun intended) until I got the sword. Defeated Radahn & Rennala as the required shardbearers and only went back for Margit to get the talisman pouch. Was at roughly level 70 by that point 🤣
Awesome video! Just watched all your builds and glad to see the latest video about Dark Moon Greatsword, which I am currently running in my second run. I used Moonveil as transition until I got the Dark Moon Greatsword and have been enjoying the sword once I got my hands on it. Keep up the good work and look forward to more builds!
Btw you dont need to do the carian tower part for the door to the teleporter to be unlocked. If you quit and reload or teleport to a different grace the door will be unlocked.
it's not the best set of armor in the game, but it's pretty up there I think. The tree sentinel armor is all dropped by a puzzle to kill chariots in the Auriza Her's Grave in leyndale. It doesn't require stonesword keys, you can run right there from the lift, and since it's a puzzle reward rather than the actual boss reward for fighting the two Crucible Knights at the end, you can get it while low level and then just leave. Start, grab the medalions, walk around stormveil, take the lift to leyndale, find the dungeon, sprint real good, and heavy role because you're level 15 and it has 45 weight. Not as strong but I have a personal attachment to the Crucible Knights. The Crucible Tree set, is in a chest in deeproots, if you don't mind dieing you can take the grace around the corner from it, run past the Crucible Knight who guards it and open the chest, then after you respawn run past her again to loot it. The axe set and greatsword is locked behind the duo crucible knights that you get the tree sentinel armor on the way to, the spear is dropped by the knight guarding that chest, and the greatshield is dropped by one on the way to deeproots just walking on a bridge. My personal choice it to wear the crucible tree armor and axe helmet, the stats are near identical and sidegrade rather than upgrade to eachother, the gauntlets and boots are identical, and character creation means I only wear the helmet if I'm fighting something that can do a lot of damage because I want to see my character goddammit.
Thumbs up fellow moonlight enjoyer 👐🏽 did something similar after the patch but i straight went for the DMGS by just doing the necessary ones( loretta, rennala, radahn and astel). And i did that only with rock sling and about level 40ish with just the runes from greyoll and the nights cavalry. Wanted to play with DMGS from the very beginning haha.
After Chrigtt video on Weapon Arts, It's very interesting to understang how 60 INT simply catapults the Damage of the Moonlight Greatsword to absurd levels as shown in this video
first time you enter the round table hold if you speak to giddion then reload the area the doors will be open, no need to speak to enya so you can speak to giddion in his study before beating any shard bearers.
One thing in the dragon part to farm Runes: you can run ASAP and rest in grace, you will recieve the runes and the dragon wont die. So you are able to repeat the process
I'm not sure if this was said, but I *think* the Spellblade set (Rogier's) actually increases the damage of the charged R2 for the bufffed Moonlight Greatsword
I know the theme was Moonlight Greatsword, which is great, but I just don't see the sense in not using Jellyfish Shield and Terra Magica. With primarily mid-range beams, Terra Magica is easy to stay buffed in, and it makes the opening salvo for many bosses into a giant headstart for the rest of the fight.
You have to be pretty good to do these. No way I was ready for Godskin when I got to him following your guide lol. Not as simple as you make it out to be for sure.
This is just what I needed to try out a new build I’ve been wanting to do. I also love your in depth build guide. Thank you my good sir and take my like and sub.
It’s such a cool build. Technically, this is a pure INT build but you don’t think of powerstanced greatswords when someone says pure int build. Thanks for watching!
Rolling in the Rot makes you acquire the status much quicker than just sprinting. I def want to try this, but yeah, I think I need more armor than you run around with.
You can actually swap your carian sword with the deaths poker if you want to so that you can get the most easiest time fighting bosses and get a Quality Intelligence build when doing your run.
Considering that Helpen’s Steeple isn’t necessary for the entire run since you were mainly using the charged R2s for Darkmoon Greatsword, you might as well have upgraded the Carian Scepter instead for spells or save the runes for endurance points…
Fishy, I honestly got chills listening to this guide when you described the ending of Ranni's quest. So well edited and narrated. As for a future endurance/armor build, I love the altered Beast Champion's armor from Bernahl. It looks incredible with a cape. Unfortunately, it's an end game armor and you need Boc's quest line.
I've never knocked Alexander out of his hole.. talk to him behind redmane and radahn is all you need to do his quest.. I usually kill him as soon as I meet him and worry about the other 5% for ng when you actually need it
Thanks for this great informative video! I just picked up the MLGS yesterday and am looking good offhand. Might I suggest in future vids, calling them light attack, heavy attack, and skill instead of referring to the attack's as R1, R2, L1, & L2? I ask because a lot of ppl don't know that those do done they play on PC with KB/ mouse
There is an even more effective build for placidusax. It's the envoys long horn on a faith build and it shreds his hp. The envoy long horn is really good and I recommend looking into it for a guide.

I used it in all my int playthroughs.
yeah, with rock sling and meteorite staff rennala is trivial
Another note about Alexander’s quest line, in my experience there’s only 3 required encounters. 1. Radahn 2. Mount Gelmir and 3. Faram Azula. I’ve done it this way on 3 separate play throughs and from what I can tell, all other encounters are optional
Same. I thought I missed out because he wasn’t at the first 2 spots when I decided to start his quest late in the game. I didn’t know about it. I went back to the Radahn battlefield and he was there. Then the other 2 as you mentioned and still got his shard.
One thing for you that don't want to use Radagon's Scar Seal
The Arrow Reach Talistan, for some reason, works on the Beam. It will make it go further than usual if you want to keep the distance from enemies
There is an opening to Radiant Starlight Shard a bit further in the direction of the gate (forgot which way that is), so you don't have to drop down
Yes, indeed! Thanks for watching!
this video is nearly two years old but another method for people who just really like the dark moon greatsword but want the damage that comes from a powerstancing playstyle, i used the flamberge on a cold affinity. it has decent scaling, but more important does both frost build-up AND some bleed. it was the first run of the game i ever did and the damage is just insane.
I think hes doing that to show the Fortissax fight
The build I ended up using on my first playthrough.. but optimized! Very cool.
Now I can't wait to see the Thingfishy Endurance build guide. C:
this music in these build videos are so legendary love it ^^
watch one of these every morning before work going to make this build tonight good content bro!
i ended up just duel wielding two magic swords at the start dps was surprising
Ronin Armor pretty, Hoslow armor is decent, but Night Cavalry Armor with the head piece altered is my favorite so far
Thanks for this, Deedat. Will keep those in mind! Thanks for watching!
Hey there,
I don't know if it has been mentionned, but to progress in Seluvis quest, you don't have to buy any of his sorceries. You just have to reload the area 2 or 3 times (talk to him each time) and you'll be able to buy the second puppet.
It will allow you to save a nice amount of runes to upgrade your weapons or to level up.
Should have just used rock sling on Rennala. It does physical damage.
Dude your intros are so epic
Glad you like them, Kalupi! Thanks for watching!
Simply fantastic video editing skills. Very impressed.
Bro you’re the best elden ring UA-camr and your video are so useful
That’s really kind of you, Rio. Glad you’re enjoying the channel. Thanks for watching!
You don't need to kill the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, Rogier eventually dies and you get his set from his corpse in the Round Table Hold
I'm still throwing rocks for the most part, but seeing how the Greatsword is so useful, I might change that around.
bruh i never comment on videos but that intro... you didn't have to pop off like that!!! I got chills!!!!
Armors that I personally recommend:
-Iron Set (only as a replacement set if you DON'T start as a Vagabond)
-Knight's Set (replacement for Iron Set or Vagabond Set)
-Raging Wolf Set (Defense of the Vagabond Set with the fashion that became the face of Elden Ring)
-Scaled Set (Better than Iron, Vagabond's, Knight's, and Raging Wolf's in every single way save for fashion, depending on taste)
-Beast Champion Set (one of the best early set, granted you don't go through the pain of grinding Banished Knights)
-Tree Sentinel Set (strictly better than Beast Champion's Set but heavier and harder to obtain)
-Crucible Axe/Tree Set (both are amazing, especially for their weight, a bit tricky to obtain early but also buff Crucible Incantations by +4% per piece)
-Banished Knight Set (pretty sure this is the best armor set you can get early on but grinding it out is an absolute nightmare)
-Radahn's Set (nearly identical in stats to Banished Knight Set, much easier to obtain, roughly similar weight.
-Veteran's Set (chunkier than both Banished Knight's and Radahn's armor)
-Banished Knight Set, not altered (strictly better than the altered variant but can only be grinded from two red-eyed banished knights in Castle Sol who are wearing it)
-Bull-Goat's (duh, this is the highest physical and poise related armor.)
My Personal set up:
-Banished Knight Helmet (unaltered)
-Banished Knight Armor (unaltered)
-Bull-Goat's Gauntlets
-Bull-Goat's Leggings.
Watching the Lake of Rot segment, did you know about the trick to reduce damage?
Go into the water, roll, let it build up most of the way, then exit the water and it'll keep going up. But now you'll have normal rot instead of the accelerated rot that the lake inflicts.
Never thought about dual wielding, I appreciate it
This is why my life, skin complexion and disposition improved when I removed my flasks from the task bar and put them on the left and right directional keys of the quick select bar.
This is the hardest guide I’ve followed. No map references and very little information about how to do certain things. All extremely confusing.
Also, despite buying all his spells, seluvis tells me nothing or has any other dialogue options.
If anyone else is struggling, advance time and return to him.
ever since Otogi, the Moonlight Sword has been my favorite From Soft weapon
Standing in the lava while talking to Alexander is sub-optimal. XD
You can talk to him from the safety of the rock to the left.
This was my sign to do a strength int build with this weapon thank u sir
Godfrey's talisman that boosts charged spells also works on the moonlight greatsword :))
So killing rykard is optional to complete ranni quest ..?
@@metheuscane719 Yes. Rykard is only for tanis/patches quest
Rock sling does an excellent job on Renalla and Astel for anyone who's struggling :)
Thanks brother! I’ve never used the DMG, so this is the perfect reason to do so!
Yeah I can’t believe it took me this long to try it, but it’s stupid good! Hope you’re doing well, mate!
Faith Dex Black knife build needs to be done now. It's fun and you can even use the armor haha
I'm not sure if this was said, but I *think* the Spellblade set (Rogier's) actually increases the damage of the charged R2 for the bufffed Moonlight Greatsword
The Intro was so Epic with that Song 😍 What was that? And omg i didn't know how beautiful the weaponart Looks on that weapon. Now i need to use it xD
Glad you liked it, Murdery. It’s called Supernova by Victor Cooper. Yeah it’s such a cool weapon. Thanks for watching!
These videos are so insanely well made!
Well F'in done! I love it!
Fantastic build! Love seeing Gideon get wrecked like that. 1.07 Gideon is a major pain.
Thanks, Terk! Yeah, it’s the most satisfying part of every playthrough for me 😂. Hope you’re doing well, mate! Thanks for watching, as always.
25:03 That's why I put my flasks on the quick select menu instead of the down menu. No chance of getting having something other than them on an input.
Excellent video, as always! really love the intro!
You always pick the most epic music! 😉
21:38 for "decent armour" it's basically every heavy armor or anything it has high Poise which is important
You have to be pretty good to do these. No way I was ready for Godskin when I got to him following your guide lol. Not as simple as you make it out to be for sure.
After rebirth because I have to do goldmask quest I use this build, it is really OP
This is just what I needed to try out a new build I’ve been wanting to do. I also love your in depth build guide. Thank you my good sir and take my like and sub.
Man when you power stanced the steeple and I saw what was going on.
Totally blew my mind
It’s such a cool build. Technically, this is a pure INT build but you don’t think of powerstanced greatswords when someone says pure int build. Thanks for watching!
Your intros are sick as hell!
Plus after obtaining Moonsword you can equip Rogier's Set +8% to Damage :)
Had Rogiers set saved for my latest guide! Thanks for watching!
terrible fashion
Rolling in the Rot makes you acquire the status much quicker than just sprinting.
I def want to try this, but yeah, I think I need more armor than you run around with.
You can actually swap your carian sword with the deaths poker if you want to so that you can get the most easiest time fighting bosses and get a Quality Intelligence build
when doing your run.
Unfortunately, it's an end game armor and you need Boc's quest line.
you can kill Bernahl when he's at the Warmaster's Shack and he still drops his armor set (and even his weapon)
@@bereisgreat oh nice thank you! Wasn't sure if he dropped the set or not.
So far I've used faith(dragon cult god, 2 shots bosses with Ancient lightning strike)
dex/arc(pure melee bleed bandit)
first int build
If you could integrate map screenshots to the places for when you say a specific location that'd help
That intro - is freakin amazing!
I followed this guide and I killed Maliketh's second phase in two charged R2s and one uncharged R2s. I love the MGS.
With the recent buffs to the moonlight greatsword this build is even stronger
There is a somber stone four between the int crystal tear and the grace at the start of the gorge towards makar
Can you please do a Death's Poker build guide? I think it's one of the most OP weapons in the game, and you can get it very early
There is an even more effective build for placidusax. It's the envoys long horn on a faith build and it shreds his hp. The envoy long horn is really good and I recommend looking into it for a guide.
Bubble build was on the very first shortlist when I started these guides, so you’ll definitely be seeing that! Thanks for watching!
