How To Make An OP INT Build | No Summons | No Farming | Elden Ring

- I made the most overpowered, beginner friendly Elden Ring build I could think of without summons or farming.
This is my first in a series of Elden Ring build guides, aimed at helping players explore new builds with step by step walkthroughs.
Check out the awesome Saruman sliders I used for this vid at Ruddy Games’ channel:

Hey peeps. Do let me know what you think of the guide! I’ll take pretty much any criticism as constructive, as it’s the first. I’m sure it will be too detailed for some and not detailed enough for others, but I thought it was a happy medium of detail and length. The original cut of the video was around 90 minutes long, with far more explanation and more specific route guidance, but I thought that was probably a little intimidating. Interested to hear your thoughts either way! Hope you enjoy it and find it useful! I’m off to start the next one! Thanks for watching!
I loved it. Although I did get lost a few times. Also never mad about a longer video either. Keep up with these build videos!
Bro your videos are the most relaxing thing I've ever seen before going to sleep, If you top it off with the fact that they're really useful, this is 10/10 content
I love this style I'm a vet of everything soulsborne and this is su h a great format to even me keep it up .
I think you should focus on identifying landmark and cardinal direction. Certain part of the video is very vague such as getting the golden seed in academy gate town after the map and grace. I had to google up pretty frequently to understand where i should be heading
I would like to see the whole 90 minutes
I just got lost a few times with the directions, i think showing the map along with the name of the place would be of huge help
I thought it was just me
How Saruman became elden lord
Thanks for watching, Lion!
this honestly should be the title instead of "how to make an op int build"
"Equip your meteorite staff"
alright, done
"Parry into slicer"
...
Have watched dozens of guides these past few months and without a doubt this has been the most concisely condensed playthrough of the full game that I've seen so far. The commentary was clear and to the point and yet whimsy at times which kept me engaged. I love that you included a couple of mistakes, (even though I'm sure there were plenty more that didn't make the cut), and alternate routes as well as updating the 1.06 bug fixes that pertained to your guide. Cudos to you. Great job. Gained a new sub!
Thanks, A. Super kind of you. Really glad you enjoyed the guide. Many more to come! Thanks for watching!
Only complaint is that the Rock sling range thing has been patched so I had some trouble with a few bosses but otherwise amazing guide
All your guides are awesome. This is my favorite. Every time I play Elden Ring it is a fresh build, such is the confidence you have given me after watching your videos here on UA-cam. I was hopeless, and was still stuck in Limgrave and Liurnia, 400 hours in I was frustrated, and about to delete the game. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you made me love playing Elden Ring. 800+ hours and adding a fresh run every other day. Boom!
Wait what? You’re saying you spent 400 hours playing this build? I mean anyone playing elden ring at all for 800 hours is impressive downright possibly too much. I am genuinely really curious what you mean by this, and how you could be struggling even with 400 hours of playtime down. In the least offensive way possible
Been playing elden ring for about 400++ hours.. now im on my 5th ng+... done every npc's quest, completed every cave and catacombs in game, kill every boss exist in game, hunt every ash of war, incantation, sorceries, spirit ashes, golden seed, sacred tears, larvae tears, helm, armor set, walking mausoleum and weapon( except rng drop ) etc... grind a bit and now level 337... doing everything again and again for next ng+ until i can remember the location every single item and quest until max level.... then only create new character and enjoy every single moment😌😌😌
I was actually pretty surprised when my friends told me they had trouble with Mohg, because my first playthrough during the first week of the game's release was using the rock sling with either lusat's or the meteorite staff. I've since come to see that he's a pretty mean boss when you don't have an optimal way to fight him though.
Fought him for the first time yesterday... 99int steamrolled him
I mean hes also very easy on a melee build. You can even kill him before he transitions to phase 2 if you time his phases well
27:03 I love how it looks like the Fire Giant is choking on the pebbles you fed him with. xD
Thingfishy, you are a Godsend man. Elden Ring is the first Souls game I have extensively played and it is because of you and Dom's Roundtable that I was able to adjust to the super steep learning curve and enjoy this incredible game.
Much appreciated!
It’s just very bizarre to me because I’m a mage (also brand new to from soft, why I picked mage) and breezed through the game with very different strategies. And despite all the complaints I want to make about it being slightly nonsensical IMO and bragging about non summoning while abusing loads of exploits/glitches. But the fact that there’s so many comments from people like you praising it, saying it legit helped them speaks for itself. I will say if you’re still playing OMG you gotta try adulas moonblade, it’s like his mainstay carian slicer but better in every way. Combine it with all the mage buffs and rannis snow hat you are unstoppable up close and med range
My very first playthrough of Elden Ring was as a mage. And when I've got Comet Azure with 15 sec infinite cust tear and buff spell (sorry, I have totally forgotten names of those items) it was a pure fun, and pain. But mostly fun.
Terra magica and the cerulean hidden tear! Was a very popular build when the game came out! Thanks for watching
Intro to video: "[...] even if you're not that good at the game?" First boss fight: *proceeds to have perfect parries* Love your videos and builds, but I've gotta call you out on this. Maybe I'm in the minority of players who don't excel at parrying, but the way you just casually drop "parry these attacks" made me scoff a little. Carian Slicer and just rolling like normal got me through Margitt just fine. Parrying Margitt in the first half isn't so bad, but in the second half, it doesn't seem like all of his attacks can be, especially the long combos involving his holy weapons.
Hey Exteel. Thanks for this. Actually reminded me to mention it more. I started my channel by making parry guides for all of the bosses, so I’m only blasé about parrying as I know there are dedicated guides on my channel for it. There isn’t actually a guide for Margit. But there’s about an hours worth of footage of me parrying him in my no hit guide and shield comparison guides if you want to see what can and can’t be parried. Also a lot of Morgotts guide carries over too. Thanks for watching!
For a less risky ride down the cliff to Sellia, you can ride off the cliff edge to the right of the bat women next to a tree root. You will literally slide right down and the Sage’s shack is just to the left.
Will you ever make an melee build?
Or even a soul level 1 guide for those who are looking for pure dread.
I also love your editing, very quick, but no so fast that beginners can't follow, your commentary is very concise and consistent, the very specific tips are a godsend too, pretty much one of the best guides
Oh definitely! I’m much more of a melee player than magic. Will probably do an overpowered faith build at some point too, but the majority of these will be cool melee weapon builds I wanna try. SL1 is on the cards too, if I can find a way to not have it be 4 hours long 😂. Really glad you enjoyed the vid! Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming i enjoy not only this video, buy your content as a whole, there is a very unique style with your guides, glad to see you expanding your horizons and I hope the algorythyn picks you up
Thanks, ICEfreezing. That means a lot. Thanks for being here!
just found your channel and cannot wait to start a new Int build after watching this. Great info, great delivery and really entertaining. Thanks for doing this!
I can't describe how good this is .. i am still a new player but your video is so awesome!
Really nice video. Ejnoyed it to the end. The moment when you dodge the mirage of malenia looks epic.
Glad you enjoyed it, Adrian. Thanks for watching!
Please show places in the map because it's kinda frustrating looking for places with the cuts
I love your full walkthroughs. Very helpful to me as a noob player.
Thank you for making your videos.
9:42 a couple of tips for new players! 1.) if when it gets to very low hp, you pop the fowl foot, and look at the site of grace - then run to the grace and rest as soon as you kill it, you get the runes but doesn’t die, makes a great mid game rune farm before mohgs palace!
2) use the flail (torrent site o grace) and grab the bloodflame blade incantation from the church of blood is liurnia. Use the ash of war with bloodflame and enjoy your runes! A little extra set up but worth doing if you intend to farm! Just be careful you don’t over level as it can ruin the fun of the game!
Radahn is a sucker for rock sling. He rides after you and right into it, even at its normal range.
Great guide. It's useful for me mainly to not miss the important stuff, although I prefer to play around a little more, explore and clear areas, level up as I go on the way. Another thing that I notice that makes it a bit less useful for me is that it relies a lot on parry and Carian slicer, i.e. MELEE. I suck at melee and have never been able to parry, I rely only on ranged magic.
Loving the videos. For Placudisax's laser, you can run to the edge of the arena during the phase 2 transition, then when he thunderclouds prior to the laser, you should be able to get behind him and attack during the entire attack, with your build you won't stagger him and may even be able to kill him.
Thanks, Tim! I’ll be trying this on the next playthrough. Thanks for watching, and glad you’re enjoying the channel!
Thank you buddy, i struggled a lot with melee combat being a mage, but with your video i knew that's viable haha
I did this build and when I got to Rhadan (about 3 lvls more than you were) I actually beat him before he could transition to phase two
that saruman face is quite fitting for this playthrough.
What I really wish is that I could be cured of the OCD that compels me to get. Every. Single. Piece. Of. Loot.
Anyway, surprised the most OP build wasn’t a parrying buckler in both hands. 😉
Haha, you’ll get there! Just practice walking past a few small items in Limgrave first. Then move onto Liurnia!
Stop giving me build ideas! Thanks for watching, GNP!
This is insanely efficient, thank you.
"Sword Saint Isshin in a dress" is the best way Ive ever hear Malenia described.
This is great! This must’ve taken as LONG time to make, respect.
This is a really really in depth guild guid, thank you, I knew to the mage in souls and I have zero clue what I was doing.
1.07 patch: The extended range (left hand) has been patched.
I actually think this was a short setup, mainly because the last build I did was a star scourge Greatsword build so it was like 3 hours of setup before killing Margit but the build was worth it as I dunked on everything else in the game
Loved this more longform guide, one little suggestion id have is maybe lower the background music slightly or add something a little more subtle. would love to hear the game audio a little better too. great video idea though, hope you do more like this.
Thanks for the suggestions, Lntrn. Yeah, I’m still playing around with the audio. Using game audio always end up sounding really choppy and jarring to me, but still experimenting. Next one drops today!
Your videos are so awesome! Voice, music etc. is just so satisfying :)!
I think they patch the unlimited range with the staff in the left hand
If possible can you post your stats, talisman, spells, wondorous physic tears it was difficult during the video to follw these
Bro it a good build but I had to pause and go back because you were just cutting everything definitely appreciate to see the way i need to go
My only complaint with this guide was that it was missing the somber six. Unless I'm mistake, there is no point in the video in which you explain where you got that one. I had to look it up and ended up getting the one by the First Mt. Gelmir Campsite. Regardless, this is a great guide for cruising through the game on a second or later playthrough. Will be doing a bunch of your guides to get a few characters up to 125 in advance of the rumored DLC.
loved the vid. Watch your color corrections, the bright spots are blown out
For ordina evergaol you can just use the hidden form sorcery to cheese it
Thanks for the guide. I'd really like to see a Faith build.
Definitely. Starting a faith guide very soon! Thanks for watching!
Wow! What a phenomenal guide! hope you make more like this in the future :)
Thanks, Stephen. Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve done two more since this one. Faith and strength. Thanks for watching!
Me: okay okay im following
Video: parry
Me: 👀 welp..
This is my first souls game and it’s so frustrating how much harder the bosses are for me than they are for him
I love the guide though
Can you show the map
What if you cannot parry?
Magnifica Guía , gracias por compartir eres un CRACK
I'm not sure if you've ever tried it, but the flail from gatefront ruins is much better for greyoll than the Morningstar. The ash of war works without FP and procs bleed much faster
"You wont believe how much we are gonna bully him"
Great guide, thanks for the insights. Cheers
Is anyone else going to use this build for Shadow of the Erdtree DLC? I'm going to play the DLC with a fresh character. I made Yennefer from The Witcher so hopefully, she'll do well in the DLC.
Wow, really excited to watch this one.
Hope you enjoy it, Tom!
@@ThingfishyGaming I'm calling Trading Standards. I was mis-sold this game as being hard, and you've proven it's anything but.
Elden Ring is secretly a totally casual game 😂
13:36 how do I do this. Cause my games different. I got the comet from a chest. And never fell through the floor?🤦🏻♂️
Great video, but as constructive criticism it would've been better to focus on what stats to invest in, what weapon/spells to get and where to get them, early game then midgame then late game. I think alot of the video is wasted on golden seed/sacred tear location since these are not specific for this build maybe remove that part.
And I’ve followed the guide to a tee but obviously some aren’t skilled enough regardless,I can’t beat renalia the sorcerer lady even with a summon I picked up because my summon is level 1 after failing multiple times I moved on further with the guide and now I’m stuck again at Loretta Casting rock sling as fast as I can but with or without the summon I can’t win and I can’t get other players help because matchmaking is done according to your weapon level and mine is still at the starting level 😂 and now I can’t move to the ranni quest because I can’t get to three sisters till I beat Loretta
Ok I beat Loretta with Stormhawk diehn at level 2 😂
ill be doing this then respec into a arcane mage after
The guide is awesome!!!
But the castle morne golem has never hit a shot in their life..?
Why did you take off the armor set against some bosses? Great video btw👊
has the left hand meteorite staff distance been nerfed/corrected in an update? all the builds from 2yrs ago say the same thing but i dont get as much distance even when i use the arrows reach talisman
23:35 no shame there I hate those gargoyles
27:05 bro choked on those rocks
Was a very cinematic end, wasn’t it! Thanks for watching!
Do you have a Faith and Arcane build video?
Hey Calvin. Funny enough, the faith on drops in half hour! Arcane one in the edit currently. Thanks for watching!
So I haven't played Elden Ring since the month it came out, basically 1-shotted the game (not bad for never having played one) and was thinking about going back, this video was recommended. It's a pretty damn good start! You asked for feedback so I'll give you some.
1. It's too long, BUT all the info is good. The intro bit where you're collecting the staff and getting the tears and such, that should probably be it's own "starting route for casting character builds" video, because I've seen that route many times and it's always about the same. This could save you 10-15 minutes. And always be repeatable (so it could increase watch time and ads run if they are willing to swap to the other vid).
2. A lot of this guide hinges on the left-hand-staff-unlimited range thing, which may or may not be a bug in the game. If that is patched out, most of your guide is useless for people. I would probably mention things like the unlimited range staff rocks as an option, but indicate it could go away at any time, then show footage of you playing the game "the way it was intended" just to future-proof the video. You don't all this work to go to waste because a key component is patched.
3. Same deal with the Bloodhound step thing, like, that ability has been a problem since release and if it is changed again, sections of the guide become un-followable.
Great start! Looking forward to themed guides in future if you do them, I love 'em! But if you just cover the cores (caster, incanter, str melee, dex melee, ranged, dex/int, str/inc, etc.) these could be excellent references.
Good luck!!
note: iirc laser dodge too hard, but when Placidusax goes into the air or whatever if you move to the edge of the arena and then turn your back on him, he'll land and when the laser goes off just blast the wall.
Thanks for the feedback, mate! Some really good stuff in here. Next one drops in 30 mins! Thanks for watching!
Now its time to do what Ive never done in any souls game... Play an int build. Also what song is on during the credits? Its epic af.
Let me know how you get on, Airis! It’s called In Abundance by Edgar Hopp. Beautiful, isn’t it? Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming Thank you! And I will, doing a quick faith run with dragon communion seal based on your recent guide right now, 3 sessions and Im over halfway done already. Gonna stop at lvl 87 +8 to do a mid level pvp build once the run is over.
I've been enjoying these guides and appreciate all the effort that goes into them.
Just one question on this build. How did you get 20 Strength to use the lance against Rykard in both phases? Did you respec?
Thanks, Brett. Glad you’re enjoying the guides! So you can use Radagons soreseal and the strength physic to meet the requirements. That’s also why we use the power stanced L1s, as you can do both phases in 60 secs by staggering him out of the skull attacks in phase 2. If you just use serpent hunter, and he starts spamming skulls, your Physik might run out and it’s game over. Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming Oh . . my Physik will definitely run out lol. I have done this strat using your OP strength guide and got skulls spammed all over my face. Some was just RNG but mostly because I was a bit shit :)
you dont pick up the lvl 12 golden rune in caelid? its just down the hill from rennas rise (where the marbles spawn) on the left in a cave. sneak in to avoid rune bear
To answer your questions, no, no, and OH HELL YES.
with out maps whats the point?
I cant find staff of loss on the corpse but im pretty sure ive already loot it, but it is not in my inventory, can i have some help please
20 Mind is awfully low for later on in the game.
Souls games need a 3edperson target system
As much as it would make life easier for these builds, I do quite like the excitement of free aiming 😂. Thanks for watching, Jake!
Great content
Carian Slicer spell is not sold after the pumpkin head?
Edit: found it! You need to give her the royal scroll.
Hmm, I don't know where "the loot" is in Sellia.
Also, you told me to dump everything into int, so when I got to Leyndell I had 51 int to your 43, so I couldn't get 27 vigor. :/ Fixed it later.
Also, I found an easy way to defeat ghost Godfrey. I just ran from one end of the chamber to the other, and only used meteors when he was out of range. Sometimes I even got two hits in. Turns out, he doesn't clear the distance quite that quickly.
Also also, after following your guide I was still missing somber 2, 5 and 6, so I went to Gael tunnel to get 2, and Leyndell to get 5 and 6. 5 is south east from the Avenue Balcony, up the stairs and to the left, in front of one of those sitting fire spitters. 6 is north west, run down the stairs, take a left and run all the way down the walkway, then down the stairs to the left and go around the half circle fence until you find it behind some ruins.
thank you for the last part i was so confused lol
Quote "decend to black reach" class
I've died about 20 times to this boss, you don't have time to cast, when you think you do she one shots with comet or azur
As you’ll see in my latest guide, the lengths I will go to to avoid a casting battle with Renalla are quite extreme! You can also skip her and come back later. Doesn’t make that much difference. Thanks for watching!
Don't think u can cheese the nights cavalry after the patch. He can reach u with his glaive, even if u duck, n if u jump over he just deagros.
Certainly not patched. Done it a couple of times since. It’s just really inconsistent! The best way I’ve found is getting on the ledge and quitting out if he looks like he’s gonna swing at you. Eventually he’ll jump straight at you as you load back in. Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming Before I went thru these comments, I tried Night Cavalry as a mage by using Rock Sling from the tree branch on the right of the bridge...but ran out of mana pots while he till had a sliver of health. Got on Torrent, and rode to where the giant balls fall from the sky, with the Cavalry behind me - when the rock fell, it finished him off, and I guess they disappear after ANY contact, because it did not roll on toward me. Would like to say I planned this, but it was a fortuitous accident!
can u drop a video how u created that character model
How can i use the meteorite staff in the right hand to fight ? I need it in my left hand to entchant another weapon. If I try to use it in my main hand, the spell is just grey.
10:24 for example
One shot city
how did you kill the pumpkin head at sellen was i supposed to level up?
How did you beat the pumpkin head at level 6 ? I do 5 damage a shot to him at 9:00
Hi and thank you for sharing this video. I’m running into an issue in following this guide. I’m at the hidden room right before the red fox in the magic academy. I hit the door and it disappeared but I didn’t drop through the floor to get the talisman? The door/ hallway just lead to a room with not much in it? Any idea how do I drop through the floor?
There is a ladder in that room and then you jump over in between the walls I think
I'm currently at level 250 at a 90 INT mage and still can't beat the elden beast lol the rng is buttcheeks rip my sanity
Great guide, but for future reference you don’t every want to kill gostoc, kill him and you miss out on an ancient dragon smithing stone.
Keep hoping you do a pure INT build with no need for any need to use parry.
He likes parrying too much for that lmao
Nice 👍
was looking for some cool magic, but just found out this is incredibly lame lmao.
they should remove rock sling from the game.
Why not increase your mana pool? I'm still pretty new to this game and thinking about trying a caster build but I'm confused on why you never bothered to increase your pool? Is hp and damage the only thing that matters or is it dependent on the spells you use?
FP is important. Probably more than vigor. Int and mind. Then vigor and endurance. You're not supposed to get hit as a mage. Just make sure you don't get one shot and you're good.
he isn't increasing fp that much because slicer is extremely cheep to cast, it only costs 4, or 6 with the lusat staff, so having only 20 mind (~120 fp, so 30 or 20 slicers per bar) allows him to focus on damage and survivability. despite what the other reply says, you will definitely get hit even as a mage, unless you're a master at dodging and parrying and also have completely memorized every enemy's attacks and locations so you're never surprised
I’m like one hand cool you get op stuff quick but kinda ruins it cuz you rush yourself on playing the game to get to areas quicker game is so big why rush it
12:00
I can use this as my first play through right?
I HIGHLY recommend that everyone does their first playthrough with as little help from guides as possible. Although it’s seems daunting & tough, part of the magic of the first playthrough is not knowing where anything is or where to go next. It’s what forces you to explore and be in constant awe of the map constantly expanding around you. You only get one shot at a first playthrough of ER and it was the most incredible journey of my gaming life, and I wish I could experience it that way again. So I’d plead with you to not use this guide.
All that being said. There’s nothing stopping you using this. It might be a little hard to follow at times as some of it requires a little geographical knowledge of the game, but easy enough to follow if you do some location googling. Have fun on your first playthrough!
@@ThingfishyGaming I’ve been playing the game for a couple of hours tbh more but I’m stuck on godrick the grafted and I’ve explored allot of the map(calied, the academy and a few other places I forgot the names of) but I’m struggling cos I have a a melee build and it’s my first souls game. But nevertheless I really enjoy it.👍🏽
@@ThingfishyGaming did you mean forth church of marika
What's in your physick ?
Int tear and magic shrouding tear. Thanks for watching!
dawg u say go North but then u goin left without tellin us?
"even if you're not good at the game"
intro shows doing perfect dodges and parries
.... yeah, I'm not even that good at the game >.
"Even if you're not that good at the game"... proceeds to parry things... lol you think I can parry HA! You don't realize how bad at this game I am 😀
stop skipping everything bro
