      @@SarahsVeganKitchen Sounds so good! I wish they would sell a vegan version, I grew up in the bay area so every friday my mom would buy a challah loaf (obviously with poppy seeds on top) from semifreddi's and i just remember loving saturday morning because it meant challah with butter and raspberry jam, and on sunday it was challah french toast, which obviously is amazing, and I'm sure vegan it is just as good!

    Try the whipping cream again. When I bought mine, it was absolutely PERFECT. I used it two days in a row and then forgot about it 😐 I tried to use it maybe two weeks later (or three) and it looked just like yours.

    Nononoono best way to make the japanese sweet potato is rinsing it and putting it on a baking sheet in a 400 degree oven for an hour and turn off the oven and let the residual heat cook it. It'll become unbelievably caramelized and sweet.
    I then use the airfryer to crisp it up!

  • @michellebeckham6402

    I had resisted buying the Silk heavy cream based on your experience, but eventually I looked up more reviews which were positive, and bought it. So I whipped it up with just a basic hand held frother, and it whipped up great & tasted great. (I definitely sweetened it up as you did) Now I didn’t use it up quickly and when I tried to whip it up after having it in the fridge for a while, it didn’t whip as great and it had that chunky consistency like yours. My fridge tends to get things colder than normal like where they ice up some times. So anyway, I still recommend it. I used it over coffee, but want to try a savory dish too.

    I tried the Silk Whipping Cream and it worked pretty great for me. I used it to fold into cashew cream for a tiramisu. I barely whipped it at all. It took less than a minute to reach a stiff peak. I think those giving it negative reviews might be overwhipping it. It curdles really quickly if overwhipped.

    I think that whipping cream might have been left at too high a temperature for too long between refrigeration. I've done that with vegan creamer before and it ended up all thick like that. It might have been left out after delivery to the grocery store for too long or something. But also if all the bad reviews are on the whipped cream attempts then you might be right and it might just be the product

    Glad you proofed that "whipping" cream. I was thinking of using it for a dessert, and am glad I didn't. However my late husband used to like adding dairy cream to our potato soup recipe, which made it rich, but upset my stomach. I apparently am mildly allergic to the a1 protein in dairy milk. Anyway, after he died and I went full vegan, some of our recipes have been less than, which was making me sad. Perhaps this product will help at least with soups and sauces. My current husband is also an Omni, normally satisfied by my home cooking (sometimes dairy or eggs go into his portion), but I want to thoroughly organise everyt6,to have a vegan home. you don't always have to, but for the jerky it helps since you have to dehydrate it. :)

    You mentioned bee free honey and I looked it up on amazon. Which one are you talking about? There are so many varieties. Thanks so much. Be safe and stay healthy!!!!

    • @SarahsVeganKitchen

      The brand of mine is "Bee-Free Honee." I just looked it up and I guess it was on Shark Tank lol. I didn't know that! Haven't seen it in stores in a long long time.

    Was the jerky texture similar to Louisville? I've made some soy curls jerky and it was good but not as soft as theirs, it was much crisper/drier
    For recipe ideas.. have you ever had Bitchin Sauce? I'd love if you could try to do a copycat since it's so good but so expensive 🙏🏻 I think with not being able to go to the store as much, doing homemade version of vegan classics would be great

    • @SarahsVeganKitchen
      @SarahsVeganKitchen  4 роки тому

      YES! Honestly if you gave me the two blindfolded, I might not know which is the name-brand. I think it's because Louisville just uses soy curls anyway! Definitely try it! You just might have to adjust the cook time a little bit depending on humidity where you are. We cooked ours longer than the recipe directs.
      I've had Bitchin sauce once and I definitely thought it should be pretty easy to make from scratch! I'll do a little more research!

    ugh I wish it was snowing here... in north Carolina its pollen season and I am HIGHLY HIGHLY allergic. I went on an hour long walk on Friday and within 20 minutes I was snotting and sneezing and my eyes were swollen smh… I want to leave my house and get fresh air but those allergies aint worth it.

      oh damn. I'm sorry you're dealing with allergies! those are the worst. Eric takes a daily allergy pill to cope with them.

    The bread turned out so well! Love that you still have snow. I’d rather be in quarantine when it’s snowy than sunny 😢 BTW where is your cute doggo?

    • @SarahsVeganKitchen
      @SarahsVeganKitchen  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you! All the snow is melted now haha. It comes and goes quickly in Colorado. Melvin now lives with a new family so that he can have another dog friend! We made a podcast episode talking about the situation if you'd like some more details (linked here: bit.ly/2wKJleh ) but he's doing really well and we get occasional updates and pics of him!

    Stardew Valley (pretty much any platform) is lots of fun. I’ve been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons a lot on my Switch. It just came out. Very cute. Little grind-y at first. Also thankful that Bon Appetit YT will still be putting out videos. Though I’m going to miss Gourmet Makes.
