Morning & evening resets work! Counseling, many years ago, the therapist said; If you're depressed, force yourself to make your bed, in the morning. If you don't get anything else done the entire day, you've at least accomplished one thing so you won't feel like a failure. Once that becomes a habit, add one more thing for the next habit, building one habit at a time.
I like your hair it looks easy to maintain, just braid it. Make your hair match your lifestyle simple, simple, simple, simple, and it looks good on you
My renewed fav interiors is now minimal. At 65 l have had enough. Home is easy on my eye. Stylish still...but only what l use and is surportive. Hard to clean...l gave away. I don't enjoy house cleaning. So l support myself by maintaining rather than big cleans. One room per month...big clean. I love it.
We listen to ourselves! If I say “I am crazy busy” then by gosh I am. If I say “I have the time” then I do. Around here we also call that programming ourselves. Also, we only hear the verb. Avoid the word “not”. Best example I use to explain is: when you say “don’t run” to a child, what do they do? Run!
gahhh!!! 3 day pile of dishes to 2 day pile to 1 day pile to each meal… 👍 you’re a genius girl ❤ because no way am I gonna spend the WHOLE DAY cleaning my kitchen! So I do nothing and it accumulates 🤦🏻♀️ “I am capable…” Thank you again! 🙏
Over last few years I've decluttered my home, my clothes just basically everything. Have amazing routines that are so easy and if something comes up and I miss a day of my routines it's takes no time at all to catch up or can just get left because I'm so simple with my lifestyle now. I guess what I'm saying is I've found contentment and I love it 😊

Listening to this , it reminded me of seeing sahm's rushing to get their children to school, while wearing pajamas, robes sippers, hair a mess etc. I was up at least an hour before my children so I could shower, dress, put my make up on and have a quiet cup of coffee before my children got up. The night before, their lunches were made and in the fridge, back packs were packed , their clothes had been set out. By the way, I am not a morning person and never have been. My point is, living life for yourself and your family comes down to maturity. Ask yourself questions such as "Why do we have too much stuff that clutters up our home? Is all of this stuff showing honor to our children, significant other/spouse and ourselves? " Why is it I can find plenty of time to be on my phone but not do the needed tasks to keep our home clean, tidy and safe. Getting rid of at least 60% of the"stuff" and only bringing in needs will make all the difference. Watch some episodes of the show Hoarders on You Tube to see how bad it can get and the mental effects having too many things can cause. Anyone can have a clean and neat home, you just have to do it.
Over the years, I have decluttered my bathrooms, kitchen, my side of my bedroom, living room, and school stuff. I am very happy with my progress. My frustration comes from the rest of my house and the outside. My husband and 4 kids (22-13) believe that an object's home is wherever they have set it.
When my kids were at home and they left stuff around belonging to them I would gather them all and make a pile in middle of room and they soon realised mam wasn't happy and moved their stuff, just an idea 😊
A lot of people give up because they don't see the end results. You'll never do it unless you make a move. Improve it to yourself. And keep away from naysayers. There's always gonna be somebody that knows better than you, And profess that they know what's best for you. But in reality, it's only you that knows what's best for you. Especially when you start finding yourself.
We tend to want breakthrough improvement vs incremental improvement. Slow and easy wins the race. I really your realistic and positive message. Sometimes we just need to hear it from an objective person. Thank you and oh, the bread dough looked excellent. Great job on “finding time” to maintain balance.
Tbh, I think I needed to hear that about the bigger things or just about my overall capabilities in general more than about decluttering or the homebody/domestic stuff.
Thank you for such a helpful video Rachel, you are always the motivation I need! Your hair looks adorable on you, simple and easy. Can! wait to check out your sour dough loaves!
Love your videos! I am trying to change been decluttering a little at a time. I love your hair that way! * I forgot to say that I put the stuff I'm decluttering in the trunk of my car as I declutter and when it's full I take it to the thrift store and donate it
This is a really great video that touches on so many important points! Even if some of your older videos might technically say similar stuff, it’s so valuable to reiterate it over and over! Also, your work and progress (even since stating the UA-cam videos, let alone the stories of your entire journey) are so inspiring! Thank you and congratulations! 🎉❤
Dad gum it!! Why in the tarnation do I care about how you wear your hair!! I drive myself crazy! Maybe its because I am an old fuddy duddy! It just doesn't seem natural, kinda like walking into Hobby Lobby! LOL
Cutting bread ? I would not have washed that knife, just wiped it with the T towel. I wouldn’t have washed that cutting board, i would have wiped the crumbs into the sink and put it straight back ! Im a minimalist, I probably would have just cut the bread on the countertop and wiped the crumbs into the floor 🤪😜
I really like your message. But it is so hard to listen to your video with the ongoing sounds in the background. Other youtubers use a bit of music in the intro, and I can manage that. But to have to filter out the background noise for an entire video is just too much for me. I know it's a personal issue, but maybe I am not the only one.
If I skipped a night of cleaning my dishes, I made sure to clean my pots & pans. Rinse my plates and silverware. 🥄 🍴 This way I didn’t become overwhelmed. I loathe washing dishes. This system works for me. 🥹🙃🙂😇☺️ Baby steps. 🐾

Love your hair style. Nice on you, fresh..❤

I like how you compared getting caught up on dishes to a bank account - as long as you're in the positive, you will be ahead

Sourdough bread looks beautiful. I’ve been a long time baker.
I had to become low, carb to avoid diabetes, and I miss that kind of bread.

LOVE your hair. Your such a pretty woman.
I never realized how decluttering could have such a profound impact on my life until I watched this. Definitely trying this approach.

Minimalism for me looks like an utterly cluttered and full craft/art studio and the rest of the house is EMPTY! 😊
I needed to read this today. 😊❤

The Apron! Are you Swedish heritage? Norwegian roots myself.
LOL! Yes, my mom is a full Swede. 😊
