  • Before they can leave, Kimahri must face his past. A Ronso elder tells Tiberius that young Ronso fight one another to establish strength when they come of age. Kimahri, who towers above the humans but is quite small for a Ronso, lost such a fight with Biran when he was younger, but refused to bow and admit the victor's dominance as is Ronso custom. Seeing this as an insult, Biran broke his horn, and Kimahri was banished in shame. While he took on the dying Auron's quest to protect Yuna, he knew that he must someday return to face his people. Tiberius wants to help him, but this is something he must do alone. Kimahri takes on both Biran and Yenke, eventually defeating them fairly. They do not hesitate to bow to him now, and acknowledge his dominance. It seems that their bullying and taunting was a Ronso thing, intended to make him stronger and enable him to defeat them. Biran says he will remain behind to fight those who pursue the party, offering his life as penance for breaking Kimahri's horn long ago.
This fight isn't as hard as you might think, seeing as how the Ronso have levelled with Kimahri, who has access to many Hi-Potions for healing. The Ronso offer Sorcery armour when beaten, and Kimahri can learn many Ronso Rages by using Lancet. You'll have to knock Biran and Yenke down to half health for them to use Mighty Guard and White Wind respectively, and only then can you learn these techniques.
Interestingly, Yuna's horned statue will indeed get made in FFX-2 if you complete the Ronso's quest properly.
