- Egg Candling / Sweety and Sherberts eggs!
Sherbert and Sweety are on four eggs! How eggciting!
Egg Candling is best when the bird starts to incubate the eggs, check after 5 to 7 days. The first few days you will not see anything but the yolk.

Hope you enjoy the video of the baby canaries in the eggs. Make sure to wait at least 5 to 7 eggs or longer depending on species to check if fertile. The mother will lay tight on the eggs to incubate them usually after the last egg is hatched. Candle the eggs after 5 to 7 days after. That’s so amazing! Thank you, as always, for sharing with us! :-)
So exciting! Thank you for educating us!
I always thought the mother bird need to be sitting on the eggs to constantly keep them warm. I don't see the mother doing that in the video. Is it because its not necessary yet or is she taking a break and you timed it to show us? How about budgies?
thank you, great visuals and accompanying explanation!
Thank you for share this amazing video. This helped my curiosity.
You are so welcome!
very interesting
wish you a pleasant weekend
best regards Frank
So cool! Thanks for sharing. :)
So helpful! Thank you!
Hi my canarys Betty and John laid 3 eggs it’s now about day 20 and non have hatched. She is still sitting, will she loose interest?should I remove the nest? should I put in a new nest if she would like to lay more? I feel sad for them both still sitting and waiting for there babies
Awesome. Will you keep the canary babies?
+Noel Lana Tavano Not sure yet.
My canary didn't make a nest and isn't sitting on the egg she laid, she's obviously ready to lay another one... is this going to affect the first egg?
I gave her nest materials. Should I make the nest myself?
What period îs good for canary for make birds?
Im so excited my canaries is gonna have 5 eggs!!!! EEEEEEEEK
Good luck 😀
Did they all hatch?
Self Evolution no only 2 did :D
@@lingling5280 Ohhh. Well - that is better than none!
I am hoping for my canaries to give babies a go this spring ... My male is 1.5 years old. His bride is still a baby now but will turn 1 year in September... so I am hoping to see some chicks (they live together now!)
Great video very helpful 😁👍
I love birth.😍❤🐦💓💛
It's important to stress that you have to wait a couple days after the eggs are layed to start seeing red. We don't want anyone throwing away fertile eggs! It's very hard to see life inside at first.
Yes, of course, I put that in my description, thank you!
What do you so with the infertile eggs? Do you remove from nest?
Hi, I remove them after the mother bird as finished sitting on them.
After female canary bird start to sit on eggs how many days chick's born ??
Hi, usually 14 days
Can it take like nerf than 14 days for chicks to hatch
Is it normal if it takes longer than 14 days for canaries to hatch
WOAH!, very helpful but please help me ;c, so look, my two canaries mated for the first time, they made 4 eggs, but its been 21 days (yes 21 days) and they still didnt hatch, but when i use light i see just like you see inside but they aren't moving, what should i do ? (btw i started counting since the day she started sitting on them and when she didnt lay another egg)
They could be dead in the shell. Wait a little longer and see if they hatch.
@@Loveofpets hey so i tried something yesterday night and forgot to say, when we hit em with lights they were all empty and dead so my dad and i decided to crack them each to see and yup, they were all empty inside not even a bird only that yellow thing
thanks thought your vids are very helpful, i hope you grow up so much c:
Hi, thank you for your video! I am a complete amateur at this so I have a question for you. Our canary laid 5 eggs. It's been a 9 days since the first one so we wanted to see if they are fertile. One of the eggs had a really thin shell and it broke. It literally collapsed. There was yolk in it. I didn't want the nest to get dirty so I removed it. Even though the mother went back and sat in the nest, I'm afraid she might abandon it now that there are only 4. Should I have left the broken egg in there?
Hi. You did the right thing by removing the egg otherwise it could cause bacteria to build up in the nest. She may lay another egg but might not since it's been 9 days already.
@@Loveofpets Thank you so much for your quick reply!! I'll let you know what happens!! Fingers crossed!! 🤞 🍀
hi loveofpets its been a long time as my computer needing repairing btw love the new content and do u think of going to see your conure rockette and paradise your lovebird and how many bettas do u have now?
Phil Mitchel Hi, I just got an update on Rockette yesterday, she is doing great. I usually here from Paradises owner around Christmas.
They both live to far to visit but I get pictures.
I forgot to mention I have two Bettas at the moment.
My canary only has one egg, and she hasn’t been laying on it recently -I checked according to the video and I do see a bit of red inside but I cannot tell if it’s fertile or not?
Was wondering, did you wait thru the 5-7 th day to candle the eggs? If so, was they fertile?
@@malachiy13 Yeah I did wait until the 7th - 8th day. It was not fertile, sadly
@@perpetualinsomnia2946 sorry to hear that. Thanks !
How many days should be the mother should sit in the eggs?
Hi, about two weeks the mother will incubate the eggs, the eggs may hatch on different days, some may hatch all at once or hatch the day after the first one hatches or a third day.
Thankyou Love of Pets 😘♥️
My budgie had 10 eggs but they were all infertile, do you have any idea why ??
It possible the male did not mate or get them fertlized. Also are you sure you have a male? Females lay eggs even without mating. Sometimes when the female is young the are not fertile as the parent are not experienced enough. Sometime the male can be unfertile as well.
Hi there, I'm new at this , my canary laid 4 eggs , do I need to check them? Or should I just wait to see if they hatch in 14 days ?? Thank you in advance for your respond and all this useful information.
Hi! You can wait if you like but it's best to know if fertile that way you can make sure to be ready for them. Have handfeeding formula and tools ready just in case the parents don't feed the babies. Also you will have to offer fresh foods and egg food for the parents to feed the babies.
@@Loveofpets thank you 😊
Your welcome.
where did u get the nest holder?
This is the nest I am using, I got it at the bird show a few weeks ago. amzn.to/2AYOtZn. I used these liners for the nest. amzn.to/2AashOZ
Hi.my canary had 3 batches of 4 eggs all not fertile what can be the problem
Hi, it could be many reasons. It may be that she is too young or old, the male could be infertile, she may be a mule. It could be nutrition, environment, disease, or she does not lay on the eggs tightly or other reasons.
Thanks fot the reply & advice
Your welcome and good luck with your birds
Hi, our canaries have got very many eggs very many times, but evertime they break their eggs,do u know something we are supposed to do? Cause we really want canary babies, thankfull for answer! 😊❤️
roblox & msp lover Hi, how old are the parents? If they are young that could be one reason as they are not experienced yet. Sometimes birds will never make good parents. I had a female that would eat the eggs and kill her babies if they hatched, I never let her breed again. Sometimes there is nothing you can do. Try switching partners. What are you feeding them before you breed them? Sometimes food can depend on their behaviour and placement of the cage also.
My canaries had to be moved out of my Birdroom and put in a quiet place to successfully raise babies, the mother crushed her eggs while in my Birdroom. Do you have other birds nearby their cage?
Love of Pets yea i have a cocktiel😊❤️tysm for the answer😊❤️i think they are 2 years old😊❤️
Sorry for many questions but one more if thats ok, our cocktiel comes to our hand and Plays with us and stuff like that but, he bites, he is very aggressive and stressed out, do u have any tips we can do? And again sorry for many questions but you are really the only one helping us.....😊❤️
Hi, read his body language. He will tell you when he does not want to be touched or bothered.
Search on UA-cam on how to read birds body language as it's too much typing for me to explain. Maybe I will make s future video on that subject
Hi there , I have a question my canary laid 5 eggs 3 where born on satuday, today is Monday and 14 days since she laid the last one , thus morning I checked and they're both fertile and noticed one of the babies has tried to come out but nothing, is there anything I can do to help ?
Hi, it may come out on its own. If it can't come out and it's struggling there are videos here on UA-cam on how to assist the baby out of the egg. I have never had to assist a chick out of the egg. Hopefully the baby will kick its way out.
@@Loveofpets thank you so much. Will defenatly try too.
Question please! I have 4 canary's, in different cages. One of them layed 5 eggs. 3 of them two months ago. She laid on does for one month and nothing! Two weeks ago she laid 2 more. But I noticed she was not laying on them this morning. So I decided to check and I only saw a yellow yoke, on one of them. The other I couldn't tell. But she is not sitting on it. What can I do?? Please help! Thanks.
I remove the unfirtel egg and put the other one back. But she seems disturbed. She keeps going from one place to another. She even looks at me, like saying were is my egg woman!🤔
Is our first time having canary eggs. Please advice us. 😊
Let her lay on them for three weeks even if infertile as she will keep laying eggs and laying eggs takes a lot of calcium out of them. Make sure to provide calcium to her. Give her a cuttlefish for calcium or in a powder form.
@@Loveofpets will try that, thanks for replying. 😊 really appreciate it.
Hi. My canary just laid 3 eggs. Im pretty sure they are fertile. They were mating many time a day. Im due to go on a 2 day trip when the eggs are due to hatch. Should i cancel? Do i have to be here?
Hi, it's best to be home. The parent birds will need lots of food such as egg food and fresh foods such as dark greens, shredded carrots, corn, peas, cucumber, broccoli, quinoa etc. There is a chance the parents may not feed the babies so you have to check on the babies to make sure they are being fed by checking their crops to see if there is food in it. Also they need lots of fresh water. The parents are so busy eating and feeding the babies so yes you need to stay home. Did you try and candle the eggs in the beginning? You can candle then now and if you only see yolk they are not fertile.
@@Loveofpets my friend will be here to feed & water them. Thankyou for the food suggestions. I didn't know they could eat all those foods. I want to check the eggs but im afraid to touch them. She wont abandoned them?
That's good someone will be there. They eat so much food once the babies hatch. I provided fresh foods three times a day along with egg food. They really need egg food so the babies can grow. Give lots of millet spray. They will poop alot too. Good luck, let me know if they hatch. Some mother's especially first time mother's may not feed the babies, sometimes they kill them or abandon them. They may sit on them but not feed. Your friend can watch and see if they feed the babies. Usually the female stays on the nest and gets fed by the male and she feeds the babies at first and then the male will start to feed after a few days or sometimes right away. When the babies hatch they may not feed them right away and sometimes not until the next day as the babies have the egg sack that they live on. The parents should feed them by the next day.
@@Loveofpets they are due to hatch on the 1st. Im leaving the 5th. I had no idea they will eat that much. Thankyou!
You will be able to see them then 🥰
Never press a flashlight on a delicate shell.
Great advice. It's best to just shine it slightly above the egg so it won't break.
Great video, I have a question for you. I just bought 2 canaries about 2 months ago. The female laid her first 2 eggs on June 27th and June 28th. The eggs have not hatched yet, I put a flashlight to them today and they are half yellow and half red, but I did not see any movement or veins. Should I take the eggs out or wait a few more days?
Wait a little longer but if you see yellow yolk they may not be fertile or they died in the shell. Wait at least 10 more days as she may have not sat tight on them right away to incubate them.
Love of Pets. Thank you. I will wait another 10 days. After the 10 days of the eggs don’t hatch should I also take out the nest and nesting material or just the eggs?
