It was the same in Iowa. My dad said you rarely saw a deer. Now with our hunting laws they have come back abundantly . There is always a give and take when we interfere with nature, first we hunt them to near extinction, and now there are many car accidents and deaths from hitting them on the road. Thank you for these readings. I find them fun and interesting to hear about the life and thoughts.
Hello from romulus Michigan brother it is very cool to hear the story and know that to this day a lot of the same name and roadways and city's are still there my hometown is new boston just south of romulus in the 1850s it was called ( katsvill ) there is a map in the city hall with all of the old villages and defunct towns thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise and for taking us on your adventure through time and GOD-BLESS.
Great chapter. It must have been so dispointing after all that not to get even one of the bears. Sounds like it disappointed/frustrated him enough to turn him off of hunting for a living though he avoides explicitly staying so.
As always I thoroughly enjoyed your reading of the bark covered house.
Thank you for the stories. Really enjoy them.

Mr. Bruin's Lucky Day.
Is this chapter 21 or 22. Its labeled 21 but Jon says 22
This says chapter 21 but you read it as chapter 22.
These chapters speak volumes about the views and opinions settlers had about native Americans. It's heartbreaking in many ways.
