It is one of the most delicious videos I have seen on fountain pen. Not only because of the reverence it conveys over the Montblanc Egyptimania, but because it induces a love of fountain pens and handwriting. Congratulations.
Thank you very much for your kind comment. I appreciate it very much! So few people see my videos that it very exciting to hear back from someone who has. I appreciate it greatly and will strive to delivery consistent quality. Wishing you all the best.

I love your flair for the artistry of your collection, Hemingway! I agree, it seems like your MB Egyptomania and the inkwell belonged together and were providentially ordered to be together in your collection! Plus it is a piston filler?! Even more fitting for that beautiful inkwell! Well done review, sir!
Thanks for this excellent video of this unique classic design pen, Hemingway! I found a like new used one yesterday for a reasonable price so couldn't resist. Can't wait for it to arrive, hold it, and write with it.
Wonderful! Good get! I cannot wait to hear your thoughts. It is a very unique pen and one of my favorites. The nib is so different, soft, and interesting.
@@HemingwayJones Finally received the pen today. Such a beautifully restrained and refined design. Love it! Only had time for a quick ink dip writing sample, but really liked how the XF nib writes and nib has a bit of give to it, which I always like. While I'm OK with the size of pen overall, I think it could have been a tad bit girthier, so that it would have had a bit wider section grip and a bit larger nib. But again, really pleased with this elegantly designed pen. Big thumbs up!
I always admire how videos from Hemingway Jones look like really interesting movies, full of passion and sincere involvement. Excellent work, both the pen and the video. Although those masterpieces (or Meisterstucken hehe) are just a dream for me yet, I really enjoy every new review.
January 2024 and the stock of the Montblanc Egyptomania is slowly running out. I managed to get one of the last. On the Montblanc website they now only have silver fountain pen available. That is the one I originally wanted, however after watching this review a couple of times I noticed how nice the combination gold nib versus vibrant blue ink actually is. Thanks for your excellent review.
Thanks so much for the kind words! More importantly, congratulations on an excellent pen! You have chosen very well! Thanks for watching. Let me know what you think when it arrives.
The Egyptomania black resin medium nib that is a pen that is on my wish list. Egypt is a fascinating land of antiquity, where you can still visit the monuments from bygone biblical times. Been there several times from above to even the Nile Delta below. I used to go to Egypt twice a year. To go deep sea diving in the beautiful Red Sea, with its multifaceted different coral reefs. And sometimes I was on the boat for more than two weeks, diving three times a day, including night dives. What Egypt offers above ground is majestic, but underwater the Red Sea is one of the few places where you can find such a diversity of fish in great numbers, so much underwater beauty, a must for all deep sea divers. As for the famous inkwell you bought ... Ha ha ha ah ... from the moment I saw it on your youtube channel, I immediately started looking for it, and indeed it came from an online shop in Scotland ... and I emailed as fast as I could type a request if she still had any :):):), but the lady brought me the bad news, even have the email that it was a unique piece she had and that she sent it to a customer :) :) :) Anyway, when I come to Egypt again I will definitely look for it so that I also have a matching inkpot that is assorted with my future Egyptomania black resin :) Thank you in advance for bringing this fountain pen to the attention, I have enjoyed it to the fullest, and I can continue to dream that I will also buy it later.
Thanks Patrick for the excellent comment. You make Egypt sound amazing. I really must visit. I am so sorry -mostly sorry- that I scooped you on that inkwell. That lady in Scotland is very nice. Wishing you all the best!
As a decades long fanboy of all things ancient Egyptian I can't believe this elegant pen flew undetected under my radar. But it did. Now that I know, its soared to the top of my list of wish-for grail pens. As to your amazing ink well, wow! If even a pale imitation of it surfaces for sale on the internet, I'll be on it like white on rice. Thanks for grabbing my attention in this oh-so informative video.
I own the special edition and it’s a beauty, I considered the same pen as you but liked the “flare” and additional writing on the special edition. I would love to find and ink well like that … Love the channel
That is an amazing pen you have there. Great taste! Thanks about the inkwell. I love that thing. I am still vacillating on whether to actually use it! Thanks for the kind words.
Hi Hemingway I share your passion for the intriguing Egyptomania. In fact, I have mine inked up and am using it this evening. I picked mine up at the DC Pen Show last August. I’d been looking to purchase it online before going to the show so when I found it with an asking price of $800 (no tax; no shipping). I was thrilled and snap it up. I just love writing with it.
Although this pen is not really my cup of tea, I can see why you like it so much. It's interestingly designed. And it's also nice to see that it give you so much joy. And that's one of the main purposes of fountain pens today: to give joy. 🙂
I find it simply amazing as to how items that we covet can evoke such a commanding hold over us. This is truly a unique pen that goes quite well with your inkwell.
Totally agree regarding the piston fillers. I like pens that fill from a bottle - vacuum, piston, or eyedropper. I like the mechanical contraptions. Sac fillers, for example, aren't quite as appealing, at least not to me.
your video has captured my eye and my heart together , your choices were super and you have a unique taste i appreciate your love for this design especially that I'm Egyptian , please i want to know what is the size of the nib that you used here???
Thank you very much! I appreciate your kindness. I hope you will subscribe and keep up with things. This amazing soft nib from Montblanc is the medium. It is amazing. Ask me anything else you need help with and all the best.
@@HemingwayJones thank you so much and I happily subscribed to your channel now I learned from you a lot in few minutes, in fact your review made me go directly to montblanc website to look for this specific pen to order but it is no longer available and instead I found only two other Egyptomania pens and interestingly they are way expensive besides their nibs were silvery rather than brass which I see this has ruined the whole design, so I'm thinking now to get the victorian fountain pen but I really need to know what is the ink filling mechanism? And for it's medium nib is it very smooth like your egyptomania or i would rather order broad nib or BB as I like the thick lines!!!
Hello, My Friend, and thank you very much! The Egyptomania is a piston fill and that is very nice. I agree that the silver one is a bit much, design wise. The medium nib is rather wide in comparison to a Japanese pen. Thanks again !
I bought this pen after watching your previous video about it. It’s currently with Montblanc in Hamburg having a OBB nib fitted to replace the M that was supplied with it. Thanks for your interesting videos.
So, I never heard your conclusion about your Egyptomania. Still on the fence??😁😄 I'm still waiting for mine. Starting to get antsy. I ordered it May 11th. I imagine you have a life outside fountain pens but I do look forward to your videos.
Thanks very much for the kind comment. I hopes yours comes soon. If it’s any consolation I am waiting for a MacBook Pro I ordered in March! Hang in there. It will come soon
I’ve had mine for just over a week with a F nib. I can attest that for the serious pen collector who wants a lifetime pen this would be one of them. The pen literally feels like nib glides on top of the ink being put down. The only downside is that the pen could be just little longer. It’s just long enough not to be too short.
I've been looking at this pen for awhile and I'm hoping to find someone who would be able to compare the line thickness of the Egyptomania F nib to either a Pelikan EF or Visconti F. I write small and I've heard that MB nibs run thicker than most European fountain pens.
@@invaderzim1964 I have a Pelican M1000 in EF. I just bought the new nib and replaced my F. The Pelican EF is finer then the Montblanc in F. I too write small and it is just on the edge of being a little to wide of a line, but still OK. I would try to go to a MB store and test the pen nibs. The store people are pen people but general salespersons, but should help you.
