I bought the ball-pen in the airport two weeks ago before flying to Egypt. I was told the same as you explain that the inscriptions are inspired/based on the spells from book of the death. My tour guide in Luxor nevertheless told me that the inscriptions were not hieroglyphic. There’s also no explanation in the booklet about the meaning of the inscriptions. Do you have more information about this because it feels a bit like a gimmick to me at this stage..
I hope you're enjoying your Writing Instrument! I am not sure if the tour guide had expertise or not, were they the only person you asked? The hieroglyphs near the clip translate to "White Stone Mountain" which is a translation to "Mont Blanc". As for the hieroglyphs on the barrel of the pen, if you got the Doue edition, Here is an excerpt from an old catalogue I had. "The hieroglyphics are taken from the very first passage of this page of the Book of Dead of Hunefer, the Royal Scribe. Although there is no word-for-word translation, the passages introduces Hunefer as the protagonist and his credentials." If you have any further questions, I suggest contacting customer support for Montblanc.
