Had a son who battled the glass pipe.. Its heart breaking.. We taught him good morals & principles but when he got older you have to let them walk this world by themselves & hope they stay safe & all you teach them kicks in when needed..
Well he got off it & now has 5 kids of his own.. All we taught him came through & i couldn't be more proud of him or myself for the teachings we gave him.. Teach your kids well folks..

"Teach, your children well, their father's hell did slowly go by ... And feed them on your dreams, the ones they picks - the ones you'll know by ... Wow ...insta tears reading that. Get some help. I was on the pony for about 3 years. One day my g/f and I got a hot bag. She spiked me 1st as usual. I dropped out. I awoke to find her slumped over in the chair. I tried to get up but dropped out again just to awake to find her Dead. I almost died myself. Fortunately I had a dr that would change up my monthly type of opiate for my constant acute chronic pain. I asked for Methadone and kicked the horse out of his stall. 10+ years offa that shit. I still think of it. So once a junkie always a junkie. Especially if you are pain ridden. I don't know if it was in put in front of me if I could resist. You have to lose all those phone numbers and lose those friends to save yourself. It's as hard as that. But well worth it. Peace and success to you.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking. My best friend, I can’t even describe how good friends we were, without question we were like brothers. We both went down the wrong path, thankfully I still had enough sense to get off the ride early. Fast forward 30 years and my best friend is still a slave to the pipe.
We don’t speak much anymore, different worlds, but do cross paths here and there. It doesn’t matter we are on completely different paths in life or how long in between visits, I still consider him my brother. I usually buy him lunch or something and we reminisce.
He has been 100% disowned by his family, parents, siblings, kids, etc. I would love to help him but until he is ready to help himself I can’t.
Be proud of your son. Getting clean is a difficult decision to make and even harder commitment.

When her voice cracks at "we got lucky once before" and then she changes the line to "passed out on her floor" you see her in total juxtaposition to the next line Joey Im not angry anymore.
She doesn't know what to do with her hands and when the camera pans to her with arms wide and fully extended. I knew I was witnessing something I've never seen before and became entranced. Especially when you see her in this moment with a plain house dress and shes just a tiny thing but what power in her face and voice. This is a top 5 knockout when i first saw this. I know the backstory and making the pain personal only escalates my intensity and love for this performance.
I had only 1 of their albums growing up so wasnt a big fan, but always liked this song. If there are angels on earth who sometimes and somehow occasionally interact with us, then this is the perfect illustration of it. Its this moment in time, nothing better than this that I can see.

You can feel the authenticity in her voice. She's an immensely talented technical singer. But she also transforms the song into a heartfelt, authentic performance which evokes emotion at the very pitch of her voice throughout the song. Rarely does music touch your soul.

@9mm Weiner I was thinking the same thing, this is as real and authentic as it gets, she doesn't need all the bells and whistles, that voice is enough.

A perfect example of lyrics and vocals coming together. Her voice is perfect for it. Her performance was powerfully emotional. That was moving... I miss great music.

I've loved this song since she first sang it, but there is some serious musicianship going on in this rendition. Her control is incredible and her connection to the song is palpable. There is a ton of expertise I never knew existed behind the studio version of this song. Well done

47 year old man in tears. This music business is a goddamn shrill, but when you hear somebody do that with such passion...and talent....you remember why you ever bought in.

As powerful a 3 minutes in music as you can get---take that REALITY TV! Damn she kills it! Bravo!!
Always a favorite song from a band--a sound that had some nice sound & hits. But DAMN she KILLS this song! And reminds us---THIS is what talent sounds like!! She clearly should have dropped the mic after this one!! It's like the her original version was in B & W--then BAM! She goes full color wide screen! That raw beautiful voice filled with passion and meaning. How brave to have just this lightly strummed acoustic guitar leading her in this emotional musical confession! The story is told ---and you can SEE IT! Damn. I could listen to this 10 times in a row----I think did while writing this!! Thank you for VA for putting this up. Outstanding---this is what music is all about! I can't wait to share......MPG
