Excellent lesson in the stages of portrait painting. Sketch, darks, mid-tones, lights etc. Interesting how you use green to cool the shadow side as well as some violet also. The light warmer side also uses a muted flesh color in a masterful way. Thanks for your generosity to share this with us.

"I'd rather have Jesus". Great music choice while painting. So relaxing and reassuring.

Dries before he could blend, no fat over lean and appears to be paper not canvas so I’m guessing this is gouache and not oils. Beautiful painting of an obviously pretty girl. Brings tears to my eyes.

Would you tell us how long this portrait took to paint? (Including mixing paints, food and model/washroom breaks! Hehe)
I found it very useful to click on Settings and view it at half speed-then I could see him change brushes, hesitate and use his fingers etc... You can still hear the piano.
He is constantly looking at the model and it would be useful to see her occasionally.
    Thanks from Toronto ☮

It depends upon the detailing you want to give and what quality of paintings do you make. I take about a day for acrylic portraits(mixing and sketching included). I prefer to give a medium but good amount of detailing. Hope your doubt is clear!

It was a pleasure to watch this great artist work. The relaxing piano music was also enjoyable. Who was the musician?

What to improve your brush technique. East ark studios videos. No judgement,.No questions . Just learn the best. Excellent video. Reminds me of Jacob Collins.

    Who is the artist?

I can only guess that his name is in the red-orange stamps (Chinese?) at the bottom. I also see demonstrations to the right that look like the same fellow, ZHU KAI.
Maybe the Fine Art Academy ref him in other videos?

Even the greatest painter in the world was a beginner once. There's a German saying I learned from DuoLingo and love: 'Masters don't fall from the sky.'
