LENG Jun, one of the top oil painting artists in China. Thank the poster and internet that make it possible for us to watch a master like him to paint. It's amazing to finish such a beautiful portrait painting within time as short as one hour.
As a portrait artist for many years, I can say this is one of the most exquisite oil portraits I have ever seen in my life. The balance achieved by capturing realism while still maintaining brush work is masterful. Trust me, this is much harder than any ordinary hyperrealism.
I agree with you on that, hyperrealism or photorealism, while great skill but in my view is more like painting by numbers, as in 99% it's a copy of the photograph transferred on surface in one way or the other then copy of the colours from photograph to the painting as close as possible, a great skill, a lot of effort but usually still a copy rather than a vision of the artist
Oh, c'mon. He is very good . As a portrait painter , what is more important , technique or likeness. In his painting I see this girl in ten years from now. Technique is very good and I'm sure given more time ....but the best you have ever seen?
Yes, I didn't want to say because I probably couldn't do any better but, where is the luminescence? Her skin looks rough. Like it's dropped... Too much sag under the eyes, makes her look like a jaded knocking shop seller. Either way, although he's good, he didn't quite capture her youth or beauty. I just kept thinking, how could he do that to her?
It's actually insane how difficult it is to find actual UA-cam tutorials on drawing by hand now. I've been learning how to draw and every video I find that looks very promising is al digital art, using digital tools and brushes. No hate towards it, it's still art, but i am learning by pencil and paper

`Most` and `few` people here doesnt know about fine art technique. If you realize from the start, when the artist make the abstract painting, the visual angle is very different which is show in camera, so that means the painting result is based of the artist visual angle, not camera. (I was digital artist, but i just directly notice it from the begining) And also that applied to lightning, if you notice.. there is a different visual in lightning strength and ambient, between camera and what the artist seen. so the artist look the light more softer that camera, thats why he make the `shrink` above the eye (and that make people think looks old), because those shrink above the eye were visible in artist eye. All of that just because artist paint it in different angle, and that effected into lights strengts in visual. Thats all. And everything from the technique he`s demonstrate is stuning !!
Also, I don't know anything about oil paints, so correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks thick. You can see most every brush stroke he makes, so there are lines across her face that make her appear older than she is from the brushes. It doesn't seem to be about his technique. I think it's just the medium he's using.
Li At Sea it’s called fat on lean, it’s an oil painting technique. Start with a thin wash first then gradually the paint gets thicker. @@LadyJayBird90 However, this is alla prima, meaning it is done wet on wet in often one sitting, and then the fat over lean principle does not really apply. Only when painting in layers, wet on dry, does fat over lean apply.
Redicously hard to paint this in oil paint with acrylic maybe even harder. Oil paint takes a lot of time to set in and you cant mix colors on the canvas like you can with acrylic. I also paint in acrylic

Amazing talent...he started with rough strokes and turned the white board into a real human! Not many can do portraits with such reality...And the model could sit an hour without moving at all...Most artists would paint from a photo, this model is really stiff like a photo...
The eyes, yes I feel perhaps he missed out on her tight skin around her youthful eyes...the model looks to be a teenager but he captured her in her 30's... having said that this is such an outstanding painting done in an hour in front of a crowd of video recorders. My work would look like Marg Simpson in comparison... well done Maestro!!!!!
He's in the zone! The journey The time when you simply paint in harmony what your eyes see getting so involved in the enjoyment and focus what your doing losing all sense of surroundings and time. Just you and the subject. Beautiful work. Its far beyond the point that only he can see what is imperfect to him. Its perfect to everyone else. It probably helps that all the women look like that ..he paints same girl every painting then just adds one trait of that days person ...um paint paint paint , scar on eye . Now you have scar on eye ..you pay now ..
The way he hold the brush it’s so unstable yet the result is so perfectly detailed
That depends...the more experience you gain, then you realise at which position of the brush you are most comfortable with......
He need to touch the canvas lightly. To much power and it become different.
شگفت انگیز❤😍😍
why'd you skip the part he drew the eyes?? that was the most important change
Obrigado senhor meu Deus por poder ter a oportunidade de ver o trabalho desse grandioso mestre das artes magnífico! Gratidão 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤
he doesn't believe in your god, it was his gods who made it happen. yours has no jurisdiction on his land
Você é um artista perfeito....achei linda sua pintura e delicadeza dos contornos e cores .... parabéns!!!!!!!
Impresionante!!!!
Espectacular!!
Un gran artista!!
Saludos!!
This is pure Velásquez, what a talent! 👏🏾👏🏾
When i see that talent,..I realize Im a tiny blade of grass in a great big field,...wow, very nice.
Hrp2 dpt hasilkan lukisan mcmni dlm waktu terdekat, InsyaaAllah.. You're my inspiration
I love this so much and watching other artists and their techniques.. there is always the ugly phase of every painting but if you just keep going then you have something beautiful🌹
UNBELIEVEBLE... SUPER 👍👍👍❤❤❤.... LUAR BIASA ...SUNGGUH LUKISAN YG SANGAT HIDUP 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing talent...he started with rough strokes and turned the white board into a real human! Not many can do portraits with such reality...And the model could sit an hour without moving at all...Most artists would paint from a photo, this model is really stiff like a photo...
because it is a photo
Good... I was waiting for that girl to blink her eyes..... But she didnt.
That's an image 😂
@@tranthiminhchau8827 really? Hahahahah
I can't tell if her eyes are open
If that is in China, it may be a real human specimens. No kidding 😒.
Haha, me to, but 30 minute i see is real photos :v
Ban đầu chỉ là những nét cọ thoảng qua rồi từng lớp bức hoạ hiện dần dần rõ nét thật tuyệt !
Гениально шедевр восторг. Вот это мастер!
Outstanding portrait ... and a born artist .... Leng Jun. My greetings. ...
I cant believe they edited away the beguining of the painting of the eyes, which is the most important feature in a painting! 😕
What about nose..?
It also important.
AND they completely cut off the painting of the mouth
He's in the zone!
The journey
The time when you simply paint in harmony what your eyes see getting so involved in the enjoyment and focus what your doing losing all sense of surroundings and time.
Just you and the subject.
Beautiful work.
Its far beyond the point that only he can see what is imperfect to him. Its perfect to everyone else.
I bet he feels its never quite finished and has to stop himself in the end and let it go.
I think the painting is more realistic (alive), than the photo, there seems to be more movement in the painting, wonderful, magical work 🙏🏽🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶 the painting is also softer 😊
ฝีมือชั้นเซียน.. ความเหมือนสุดยอดมะละกอ #@😊
Un gran ejemplo para todosFELICITACIONES AL ARTISTA Y AL PUBLICO QUE LPS ACOMPAÑO.
Thank you, Leng Jun. You have brought me back from the dead...
You colored my mind and how you play the piano with your toes while painting 🎨 is sublime. 💥🙏
He is amazing! How could he paint her without pencil sketch! I respect him! 👍😍
I have made hundreds of pencil sketches on portraits first and just had the paint smear it all up LOL. I don't like graphite in my paint so I just block it all in like he did with sepia tones. I do admire his artistic skills. I would love to see him in a workshop.
@@napalmparty yes, that's true! So you're an artist too.🎨 😍 That's awesome! I've always been eager to draw a good picture. I'm a retired graphic designer. 😁
Thank you for your reply. 💕
In my community I was lucky to have and art league that held life drawing sessions. Also the local community colleges had non credit life studies classes and a university had drawing sessions open to the public. Taking some life study classes is the best rout. Nothing beats studio time with other artists and real models.
I'm impressed if I could look at something and paint it an amazing artist he is
Banyak orang kalau banyak masalah larinya, minum minum alkohol, stress hingga berbuat hal hal negatif, beda halnya kalau seseorang jago melukis, andaikan aku pandai melukis aku ingin tenggelam dalam imajinasiku melalui lukisan dengan melukis apapun yg kuinginkan, menumpahkan segala yg ada dipikiran dengan melukis sayang aku TDK pandai melukis.
omg and the fact that this is leng jun the most realistic portrait artist
Красота и мастерство мастера художника великолепна , точна и похоже в точку прям! Браво
