Great video. Love it up there. Would offer a loop suggestion next time you go if you care to. Park and do the same hike until you reach the intersection at the Silent Trail, but take a left. Go about a mile to the intersection of Cane Creek and Odum Scout. Cane Creek trail will take you back to where you parked. About a 11 mile loop.
If you need another six mile loop....park at same spot, walk up to Pinhoti trail crossing, go north instead about 3 miles to Blue Mt shelter then past the shelter go another few hundred yards until you intersect with Bald Rock trail, left turn up the ridge to Bald Rock overlook, then road walk back to the hotel/parking area. Short hike, but a decent leg work out and great vistas.
Not sure about the elevation changes as far as ups and downs as I don't own an altimeter but Cheaha Mountain rises about 2,407 feet at it's highest point I think. Typically my mile count varies depending on my location but in general I can knock out 1 1/2 to 2 miles per hour depending on the terrain. I also usually hike most of the day 7 to 8 hours also depending on where I'm at. When I did the PMT my mile count was less, like 1 mile to maybe 3/4 of a mile an hour .
Jaxx Drinkwater I may try that hike this spring .. i looked at it .. 10 miles to the summit 10 back .. maybe a over night if i could drop pack at camp below summit. .. I am from nashville tn .. you should check into my home turf. .. SAVAGE GULF.. southern . Tennessee., you like it maybe we can hike it together 1 weekend
