Welcome to the trails of Alabama's Talladega National Forest! Nice video work. Loved your take on the Alabama woods! Not quite the Smokies or the Rockies for us Alabamians but our national forests will do in a pinch. For us pilots, that crash site is a reminder of how the terrain can be unforgiving.
Just made it back from a weekend trip to Cheaha and Little River Canyon. Great views on Cheaha and nice trails as well. Little River Canyon was amazing as well but the trails were a bit more challenging.
Many gorgeous places to hike and camp in Alabama. If you make it back, try desoto state park. Several waterfalls in the park, desoto falls is close and you're a few miles to little river canyon. Many miles of epic and difficult trails to challenge anyone. Best bang for the buck for hiking around here.
Glad you visited Alabama... my backpacking proving ground where I refined backcountry skills. There are 2 great multi-tiered forest waterfalls that were within a 10 min drive of where you were - High Falls & Cheaha Falls. Maybe next time when you’re passing through Bama. Great video... enjoyed watching! JBH
Those grapes are muscadines tough skin but so flavorful! Like concord grapes but 10x the flavor! Nice video. We lived in Alabama for 15yrs and loved living there. Tuscaloosa area was beautiful with lakes and hardwood trees in our area! The sourwood trees are beautiful in the fall. Thanks
OH HAHA I was told my whole life that they are super venomous, we had the all over growing up too. I actually just googled it and turns out a lot of the ones we think are daddy long legs aren't even spiders. But the Cellar Spider which is the real spider daddy long leg, ills brown recluse and black widow so a long time ago people assumed they must be really spider and dubbed them so. Thanks so much for watching
Oh man, you are going to have to go back when the fall colors really start popping! You might as well hike the Alabama highpoint while you are in the area! I live at 4,800', haha gotta love those southeastern "mountains"!
I'm always amazed with how much gear you carry and able to keep up with the filming on these hikes. I'm a terrible hiker, so I'm already dying 1/2 a mile in and don't feel like filming anymore😂 Can't believe it's fall already... I live in Florida, so I don't feel like it's fall until December is so. Good tip on the wide brim hat for the spider webs!
Great video! Brings back good memories of hiking and camping around Mt. Cheaha. If you are ever around Gulf Shores be sure to check out Bon Secour refuge and the state park there. Thanks for sharing!
A pretty short hike near Talladega is out to Salt Creek Falls. The National Forest where this hike is isn’t too far but it might be a bit round about from Talladega. The Cheaha state park is where this trail is though and there are lots of other hikes in the area too
Amazing video I never been there hopefully in the near future, will be in the Smokey Mountains at the end of October so definitely will check your video thanks for sharing.
Hi Alice I have a suggestion for you. If you are ever in Eastern Ky you might want to check out Red River Gorge. Spectacular views. Great place to back pack. I think fall and winter are best times .I grew up next to RRG so I spent a lot of time there. About 50 or so miles east of Lexington on the Mountain Park Way.
Looks like a beautiful spot to go for a hike. Was your bag full of hiking essentials or filming gear? Great views from the top - and crazy that they just left the plane wreckage there.
My bag sure was full of hiking and camera essentials. Water bladder, cameras and some extra layers. Crazy there is actually a few plane wrecks in this area and since its miles from the road I think it would have been really hard to remove.
Thank you so much for subscribing!! Yosemite is awesome. I did a bit of it in an older video on California Road tripping. Check it out if you get a chance
This popped up after I watched stories of Adam Simjee and his girlfriend were robbed and shot at this Forest. How awful for such a tragic event to happen in such a beautiful place! RIP Adam 💔
How terrible. Sadly our National Forests and wilderness areas especially in Appalachia seem to have harbored many criminals over the years. This Forest certainly gave me the creeps
Hi Patrick. It's not just one trail that is 130 miles long, there are several trails that connect giving 130 miles of trail in total. If you want to do an overnight you could do the Skyway Loop trail which is about 17 miles. Here are some other options too www.alltrails.com/parks/us/alabama/talladega-national-forest
Some say this is the location of the "Meadows Project". Pinhoti trail in particular. Area of high strangeness at night. Be forewarned and highly prepared. Never travel alone.
@@kz6713 I guess I am not sure why that is scary. Cairns are usually only used in rocky environments without trees. There was plenty of signage on this trail, as well as marked tres and an easy path to follow.
@@AliceFordAdventures Ive seen something wierd at an area with a three cairns next to each other. Im going back right now to see how the trees have bloomed . I live near Atlanta Georgia the forests look spectacular right now
John Larkin Burns Thats awesome. So interesting when I looked up more info about it, turns out quite a few planes have crashed in this area and within the Talladega National Forest
Well of course because I am from Mobile and have also lived in Tuscaloosa and Trussville. What in God’s name took you to Alabama?! Oh, and it’s pronounced Chee-hah, don’t pronounce the A. Did you have some sweet tea and yell Roll Tide?
I knew I was pronouncing it wrong haha. I am working in Atlanta for a bit and this is only 90 minutes. Plus I have to hike the tallest mountain in every state. :)
@@AliceFordAdventures well glad you got to see some of Alabama and checked that one off the list. So if you are hiking the tallest in each state when are you doing Mt Rainier?
Have you visited Alabama? What is your favorite place in the Southeast?
Never been to Alabama. I spent a couple of days in Gulfport Mississippi, the Gulf Coast is really nice!
We’ve lived in Alabama for several years now. We like it. Gulf Shores, AL is a favorite of ours.
ridge304 I’ve heard so many good things about Gulf Shores
You should check out bank head forrest there are alot of beautiful trails
Does at age 17months count ?
I don't remember much

I hiked the Pinhoti trail a few years ago and its a very nice trail.
The views are spectacular. Great stuff thanks for sharing
Really dope video ! Thank you for sharing your vacation i can’t wait to get there soon!
Little river canyon mouth park, bucks pocket. Beautiful
Just made it back from a weekend trip to Cheaha and Little River Canyon. Great views on Cheaha and nice trails as well. Little River Canyon was amazing as well but the trails were a bit more challenging.
That’s great. I’m not sure when I’ll be back out that way but I’ll add it to the list
Muscadines very good grapes , they make the best jelly!
The most pretty thing in life hiking 🧚🏻♀️ felling free 🧡
The knock knock joke should go among the greatest moments of Alice Ford's videos compilation!
Thank you for being the first to comment on it hahah
@@AliceFordAdventures You're certainly welcome! Hiking may result in funny stuffs!

@@AliceFordAdventures awesome! Can't wait to get out there and get some footage for our Channel

Time to get back on the trail then. Thanks for watching

That makes sense, the wine of Georgia is made of Muscadine grapes. Not my favorite wine but I'm sure the grapes are delicious. Thanks for watching
I think it's a myth that daddy long legs are venomous, which is good because they are everywhere in the South. FYI, I love your travel videos!!!

That’s awesome! It’s so pretty in there. I just loved it
Wow I want to go and never been to Alabama but I heard the song 👌 nice video
Thank you. I love this video it was such an unexpected beauty
Love all your nature shots, so pretty! The trail looks super scenic. I need to visit some day!

Wild grapes + fresh running creek water = time to start making forest wine! haha ;)
Sounds like a great idea

Nevada Hiker Haha I know totally. I had to race to get back but I know I was right near the high point. I heard you can only drive to it? Not hike it.

I certainly like to be overly prepared, since I hike solo. Fall in Florida sure does come late :)
Great video! Did you use a drone?
Those are wild muscadines. Delicious to eat. We have always grabbed a few while deer hunting in the fall
