One thing I have always enjoyed about your channel ,back to the very beginning , is that you know how to keep things fresh by changing things up. This is extremely rare in this age of amateur film making or in this case weekly series. Sometimes you plan your change-ups intentionally and other times they are opportunity-based as was the case with this episode. Regardless of how you do it, you’ve managed to keep viewers continually entertained and that is truly a rarity in what has become a very crowded space for UA-cam channels. Congratulations and may you always continue to change and keep things interesting!!

Yes it can be a pain setting up the camera to get a 5sec shot of walking but I appreciate the attention to detail and the fact that over the years you don’t skimp on the quality of your videos. It does add to the story and it makes it both interesting to watch and it makes me, the viewer feel like I’m getting to experience your day right along with you. Keep up the great work and I will keep watching.

Wow! Since the very 1st time, I haven’t been to DMV for renewal of my CDL (I assume you meant California Drivers License, right?) for quite some time except for the change to REAL ID. It’s been done all through Mail, no wait in line, no hustles of paperwork, whatsoever…😊
@@naomitakimoto7295 , actually it was for my commercial drivers license ,which does require a few more tests , but the delays were caused by DMV, lost application, printed wrong info on license , and then lost the license! And yes it was Calif. DMV . I always try to go there with a good attitude and a smile , but it seems to be a lost cause .
My wife and I leave each other cards and notes any time we have separate trips for work or family visits - it is still wonderful after 16 years to do the little romantic things, so keep it up! Love all 341 episodes so keep those going too!

This step was stunning and beautiful, from the bright sunny wide angle shots to the rain soaked, wind howling footage and everything in between. I think that "Cooking with Kika" should happen more often. I think the last big storm solo was way back in step 54 with Dan.

Kika, you demonstrated in this video, that you partner Dan, brings out your strengths. You have done what not very many women have done- sailed on a vessel that you helped restore into deep waters. To do that you overcame things you might not have without placing your trust in Dan. He knew that too. That is a great thing.

pssst Captain Kika, in Spain there is the "siesta" (nap time) that is a legal thing, all stores close a few hours in the afternoon when it's too hot to work in summer, and they reopen later often to much later than in other countries like France or Italy. Apparently they do it in winter too.

Loved the cleaning dance party, and that pasta looks delicious! Dan's little hidden notes are adorable. I also think that it's great to have small windows of solitude within a relationship to remember how to be independent, relax and recharge, and appreciate the little things you otherwise take for granted (such as having someone around to pass groceries on and off the boat). I would love to hear about some of the neat regional architecture in the areas you visit as well!
I remember that one time I started my laundry and went across the street to get a snack and when I went back my laundry had found another home with someone. From that point on I NEVER leave my laundry! 🇺🇲
Kika seeing you all alone was nice. You were great and real. I appreciated the anxiety part. It's easy to forget how much gain by sharing our lives and experiences with someone else.

Long ago, in a video from the Caribbean, you'd encountered an inordinate amount of signs. Dan hilariously interpreted them in ridiculous ways, and it's caused me to do the same when I'm in public places with too many signs... my children (2 & 3) have also since started doing this! Thanks Dan!!!

Great film Kika. I like how it shows just how long "household" chores take on a boat... laundry, shopping etc. and all the logistics involved. As Canadians who are living abroad we totally get the driver's license thing. We lost our Canadian driver's licenses because we couldn't afford to fly back and renew them. Really stupid 😖

I was on Menorca way back in 1977 (they were still building those tourist hotels). It was the year Elvis died and I was actually having a beer and a cheese and ham toastie (my first ever!). As far as I remember it was just a Med holiday, with sheet lightning in the skies. I loved that island because it was not a disco island and had a rich history as well as beautiful scenery. Glad you coped without Dan - yes cooking for yourself is quite difficult to sort out re portions. Brilliant video! You two are very lucky to have each other and share these adventures - and of course we as viewers are beneficiaries of these! Thank you Kika & Dan.
Kika, the secret of not crying when you’re cutting onions is not to create an emotional bond with onions! Hope this will help! 😂 overall amazing episode, as usual! 😊

I've tried cutting under cold running water, nope. The best I've found is start from the opposite end of the roots. By doing this you can also put what you don't cut in a Ziploc bag and in the refrigerator and it will last longer.
That, and a snorkeling mask!

I am really feeling the weight of your passport bs. I very much want you to be able to go with Dan to do silly reasonable things too. What can be done? Anything we can help with? Immigration issues really seem like the Neanderthals have won in this world. Well, I guess more now than ever , reasonable citizens of the world are definitely in the minority. I’m sorry to remind you of something so disgusting but I was overwhelmed myself by seeing the pain perculate from the depths. I’m saying some other affirmations for healing and mercy to come upon your family. Bens’ notes were so thoughtful and sweetly jogged the stillness around you, so you felt him near. I hope that I have not upset you; not my intention. That’s a really hard thing you accomplished on your own. Be happy for you have all the tools and always make good use of time, hence the dancing housecleaning woman.
As a non-cooking person myself, I would be proud to be able to pull off that beautiful meal. I understand that the more I mess up by misjudging ingredients or proportions, I get better. I think Dan will be impressed too, assuming that he eats left-overs.

I never thought I would be saying this, but Dan is kind of adorable! When he gets back to Uma you'll have to make that pasta dish for him. The three of us in our household agree that this was one of the best Uma episodes ever. Not that we'd want you two to deal with more separations! The domestic details, including seeing more cooking, cleaning, (dancing!) etc, were a delight!

What an excellent episode. We enjoyed this so much! We miss Dan, but wow. Somehow we feel like we got a better glimpse and real feel of your day to day. It feels so similar to our own when we live aboard. After three long years we should be joining you back at sea this spring! Our refit is on track. My trick for cutting onions takes advantage of the fact that I have way more cupboards than I need for kitchen stuff in my flat, so I keep things like my ice skates and snorkeling gear in the cupboard under the chopping board, and my mask is always handy ;)

It is lunch time so everything closes down or they take Monday off to make up for working on Saturday. Those narrow streets have cars. You will notice most doorways are set back. So when walking and a car comes, you step into the doorway and let the car pass. Being alone once in a while will build your confidence. Sometimes we become too reliant on another without even noticing it. Dan's notes are very precious memories.

Anchor light: You could surely wire that to a light sensor, so that it turns itself on and off automatically. You wouldn't have to think about it when at anchor and you can always trip the switch manually if you don't need it whilst sailing at night.
Thank you Kika for another perfect video! I just noticed that with all the electronics that you use all day long you still keep paper shopping lists. I have used what I found to be the perfect shopping list program (I‘m all on Apple too). It is called Bring! and it comes with all languages and you can synchronize it with Dan and all your computers so whoever adds something or ticks it off on his phone updates the others phone in real time. You can type or voice items, create different shopping lists, you could even create inventory lists for the store on Uma! Too bad we didn‘t meet in Mallorca. I‘ve been living on the wonderful island for 10 years now and I will never leave! Looking forward for the next episode.
