This facts are not actually true, she was born in 1919 and died in 2004 which makes her 85 years old. Her husband was born in 1910 and died in 1973 at the age of 63. The house you are in making this video is well protected by the citizens living in this village that keeping an eye on the house every now and then. A few times since the house was left alone some people that have been a little to much interested in the house have been scared off by people from near by houses. People in those villages have very very good eyes and know when ever a car seem to stops on the road or if there is strange people lurking around. Anyway, this house is a time capsule and almost impossible to see if from the main road in the summertime because of bushes and trees. But I know its there and will be for a long time to come.. thanks for making such a great video.. :D

Can I ask if older houses in Sweden have toilets inside or there are outhouses that they use instead? I don't think that she would have used that pail that Leslie said. Thank you. I love that they neighbors are looking out for the house.

@@JeanStAubin-nl9uo Its very common with both toilets inside and outside in older houses. Most empty houses like this is overlooked by neighburs no matter where in Sweden it is, well if the house is all by it self in the woods maybe its not as easy to keep an eye on an empty house..

Great video. I love Sweden, land of my forefathers. When you first walked in to the kitchen, you picked up a tool and you said it was to grind vegetables. It is actually a wood plainer. It is used to shave off wood to level it, such as a door or cupboard door. If it no longer closes because the house has settled and the door frame is a bit off, this is used to shave a bit of the wood off.

It functions more like a rasp than a plane and is actually called a multi rasp plane.
It's designed to be used on wood amongst other building materials.
They also work well for shredding certain vegetables like carrots and grating hard cheeses...Multi use I guess, for whatever our imagination can think of 👍

I don't know about in Sweden, but in Alaska, USA that small "front porch" area would be called an Arctic Entry. It is an unheated room that you would enter from outside, with the door into the house kept closed. It keeps the cold air from outside from entering the heated house and cooling it down. It's also a good place to store your snowy shoes, boots and jackets to keep them from melting all over the floor in the house. In the summer they may open windows and the door into the house to allow more air to flow through and cool the house.

Heat rises to the top, so yes bedroom on top! Perfect for fall / winter. I once lived in a place much like this, yet more like Spain climate. It would get cold nights in fall, and VERY cold in winter until late spring, so I'd stay on upper level. During summer, it would be too hot above, so would stay on bottom level where it remained cold to cool year round. Lovely home in your video! So glad it has not been ransacked and vandalized .

The numbers on the woodstowe in the kitchen is the model and it is impotant when you buy spareparts witch is all availible still. As you mentioned there is a woodstowe in very many swedish kitchens and they are still put in in newbuilds.
The ¨fireplacë in the basement is a breadowen and it is not heating the rest of the house, as you can see every room has it’s own ¨kakelugn¨ and every fireplace has it’s own pipe in the chimney.
I guess she did sleep downstairs at the end because there where 2 beds downstairs, one in the kitchen and one in the room with the white furniture. The sofas are beds, you open the lid and pull it out and it gets wider, if you get in to another swedish old house open it up and see if there is bedding inside.

Another enjoyable adventure. Swedens fill our country with their homes, crafts, and culture.
They are known for people of many skills especially in the art of handling woods. One of the fist tools of a craftsman that you first picked up was a rasp used with wood, not vegetable, however maybe someone somewhere does.
If you noticed plastic cover just about all horizontal plains. In the home, to protect the surfaces of dust and primarily wood, for they were always building it working with and building something. Hence much of the furnishings in the house. The patio in the US is referred to as a seasonal porch, patio is concert slab or blocks on the ground outside for recreational activity. The other room in the house you referred to as the dining room with the beams on the ceiling to me was a room they used as a work room for they were always working on projects and they never remodeled that room they kept it as their work room, even the attic was used to store materials for future plans as they remodeled. Leaving the last room for rest, her cover alls were even kept to hang up last.

Hey hey, dear Lesley again such a lovely explore video from my most favorite explorer! - Everytime when I watch your videos it makes me nearly speechless how you succeed to fill these abandoned locations with new life exclusively due to your unique and soulful way of approach to the probable life of the former owners. Respect, bro, that is a great talent, a special gift, you are having! - This Swedish house was really a legit time capsule. It was very pleasant to see how neatly everthing was well organized. Beautiful furniture and a lot of wonderful small ornaments were visible showing how lovingly the former owner decorated her home. I guess, that she might have been in quite good health even in her older days. - I also loved the beautiful harmonious atmosphere in this house. And - yes, the incredibly pristine bedroom in the attic was quite an unexpected surprise.
Of course I can't end my comment before praising once more the exceptionally high quality of the camerawork from our beloved Danny! Wow! And I enjoyed listening to the conversations you had with him. He very often draws your attention to details, which are also significant for the video!
Wonderful explore video! I enjoyed watching every minute of it, and I am already looking forward to your next explore adventure, my friend!

The room with all the newer white furniture was likely the bedroom. (likely was the living room before) The "sofa" is a day bed. I'm sure the lady had long stopped being able to go upstairs because of her age. Or, the bedroom upstairs was the kids room. It looks like it has two double beds together with a large headboard and against the wall are two beds end to end. It was not odd to partition off a portion of an attic and make bedrooms as needed. Remember, they didn't have lights or air conditioning and heat like we do today, so it was all the same to them.

Interesting place from the partial finished upstairs to no toilet in the house only 30 years ago blows my mind, I wonder if there’s an outhouse on the property. I think the clean white room with the little table and chairs is possibly like a family/game room. Thanks for another fun video.

Hi Leslie and Danny, this was a strange house, some parts you could see the decay, some parts looked like someone was going in there and cleaning, hardly any dust, very few cobwebs, some wooden things looked like they were recently dusted. It certainly didn't look thirty years abandoned. Great explore guys. Love from N.Y.

All the material stuff we collect during our lifetime
Will be left behind to rot
Or be sold or passed down
So we all need to remember daily
    Life is short
Live it the best you can daily
And not try to get upset over anything
And stop collecting stuff we don’t need
Spend your time and money making memories
Not buying stuff that means nothing

I get the feeling that the ones left behind do what they can to tidy up but kind of give up. I also think that the old people who leave a lot of stuff behind is because they grew up during ww2 and the depression. Just a thought.
Anyway, thank you for the videos.

You young guys are hilarious.... . It's very unlikely that room is a wine cellar, most like a cold room for vegetable and food storage. The implement on the kitchen table is a woodworking tool Electrolux were manufactured in Husqvarna. Husqvarna is a Swedish brand, named after the town of Huskvarna in Smaland where everything from Motorcycles to stoves, to chainsaws were manufactured both under the Huskvarna name, and others like Electrolux. The "kalel ung" is a very clever heating system... the heat rises, warms the tiles and reflects heat into the room... the tassel is not decoration, it's there to open and close the flue system. There will be the same thing in the room above. The candle holder is for Advent, one candle was lit on each Sunday in advent before Christmas... I think it's more a porch, where you can take off your outdoor clothes, more than a sunroom.. Yes they are carpet beaters. You hang rugs and mats over the washing line and beat the dust out of them. That box is for mens collars, and you put the studs in the top.
I'm pretty sure that the house was remodelled at some stage in the 1960's and what you are calling the attic was the upstairs that was never finished... the glass porch looks like an addition too.

Guys, your ‘wine cellar’ is an ice cellar to keep things frozen during summer, your ‘vegetable rasp’ on the kitchen table is actually a woodworking rasp made by Stanley, the blue and white tiles in the kitchen are delftware made in Holland, Husqvarna brand is as Swedish as Volvo, certainly not German……………

How could a 102 year old woman do her business by balancing on that tiny pail? There was another table in that bathroom that was covered up. Maybe if you lift that up there is a commode in there? This was such a charming house. She must have been an immaculate person. She kept everything so nice. Thank you for sharing this with us!

What a nice house. I think I would have liked Bluma. But I wonder why the bedroom was in the attic. Wouldn't that be the coldest room in the winter? Hot air rises and cold air sinks, so maybe I have the wrong idea.
