Btw, Genji’s not wearing a suit. He’s actually a cyborg since his body got rekt by Hanzo. Overwatch found him half-dead and gave him a new body.
I need to hug Genji. Can't wait to learn more about their story of being brothers.

So just to let you know, Genji and Hanzo’s father was the leader of the Shimada Clan (Japanese Mafia). Since Hanzo was the oldest brother his father groomed him to take over the clan when he died, Genji on the other hand lived a carefree life of luxury, spending most of his time in the arcade. After his father’s death, Hanzo took over the clan, not long after his advisors told him to straighten out his wayward younger brother so he could help lead the clan. Hanzo confronted his brother that night and Genji refused, but as he was walking away Hanzo attacked him from behind. Hanzo, believing his brother was dead, fled the scene. However, Genji was barely alive and would have died if Overwatch hadn’t found him. Angelia Ziegler (mercy built him a cybernetic body because he was so badly hurt. Genji later joined Blackwatch, a secret organization within Overwatch that did jobs Overwatch didn’t want anyone knowing about. Later he left to go explore the world like a nomad, he wanted to find peace and learn how to accept his new body. He met an Omnic named Zenyatta who helped him except his new body and forgive his brother. Genji then went to confront his brother, and you know the rest. I believe this cinematic takes place right before or right after the recall, but I can’t confirm.
I’ve been playing the game since it came out and have been keeping up with the lore so if you have questions just ask :)

I believe the one omnic that widowmaker killed in one of the cinematic is zenyatta's brother, is it true? I just want confirmation.
@@Zoapman Mondata? I don't think Omnics can have "brothers" per se, but they belonged to the same order of monks. So maybe brother is just what Omnics from that order refer to each other as.

I’m pretty sure that almost every fictional sibling relationship don’t get along that well.
Also when Hanzo said “real life is not like the stories our father told us” that was kind of an in joke since the narrator of this is hanzo and genji’s father telling them the tale of the dragon lords as kids.
So real life ended up being exactly like their father told them.
What about Yasuo and Yone. Even though Yasuo killed his brother, when Yone came back to life, he had no quarrel with Yasuo

I really like the line "Real Life is not like the stories our father told us."
It's in direct conflict with the whole design of the cinematic, and it makes the distinction that while Genji and Hanzo's relationship is similar to that of the dragons, their story is a completely unique one, and it doesn't end simply with "Everyone lived happily ever after"
Fun fact Genji and Hanzo were once one character that split to make the shimada brothers
Cryos The Dragon Breather yeah. It was too much for one character tho, because of too much skills on a single character. It was also seen as op by the devs.
I was supposed to be a ninja cyborg who wields both blade and bow.
You need to see the Bastion short. If any of these will make you lose your mind, that one will.
Fun fact, the feather at the end represents Genji because young Genji used to have a nickname, Sparrow.

I think Overwatch has a huge advantage in being such a young IP that they can literally make whatever movie they want.

I relate to Genji heavily because we both have our insecurities about our bodies. Him with his disfigured, cybernetic one and me with my scoliosis that deformed mine to the point where I needed major reconstructive surgery. That aside, I love watching reaction videos that have so much emotion because they're the most fun! You got a new subscriber! XD

We typically get two, sometimes three shorts a year. You're in a position where you're catching up with a few years of lore but Blizzard has been infamously slow with getting much lore out.

Overwatch has a large and very depressing history and lore. It's sad to think this well-made game is being outshined by Fortnite.

This is my favorite short and Genji and Hanzo are my favorite characters, Genji being my most fave!
No matter how many time I watch "Dragons", I get all feelsy and cry because I also love stories about brothers and family. Your reaction was just so good and really nailed how I felt when I first watched this!

Genji was virtually ripped apart by hanzo and left for dead over a family dispute luckily he was saved by mercy overwatchs medic in exchange for joining the organization
And he completed his assignment as the member of the Overwatch's Blackwatch only to leave before the organisation tore itself apart. But his cybernetisation left him in conflict with himself over his very nature. Was he still a human, or a machine? Neither? Both? Thankfully, he crossed paths with an omnic monk called Zenyatta, who showed him the way of the Iris, and Genji learned to accept himself for what he was, possibly for the first time in his life. When Winston recalled the Overwatch team Genji accepted, but before he could come back he knew he had to bring one more person onto their side. Someone who he believed would do the right thing despite the tragic history they shared...

Yet it went haywire when Mercy tried it on Gabriel Reyes, hence the Reaper exist.
@@R4GNAR0G It was never stated that Mercy is responsible for Reaper. That was just a fan theory based on some voice lines in the game. In fact the Origin Story of Moira implies it was her who changed Reyes.
@@MaZeW1 Actually it was stated that Mercy attempted to heal Reyes but something went wrong and created Reaper. The Moira short revealed why it went wrong since Mercy had no idea about the experiments Reyes had undergone.

I don't think a lot of people realize that it's their father narrating the story and that their adult lives directly reflect that particular story.

I haven't kept up with the OW lore but I imagine their father is still alive or something, controlling the clan from the shadows or is a type of a "Wilson Fisk" figure in Tokyo which the brothers are unaware of, maybe?
