Fun Fact: Angel Hernandez got his start measuring the jumping games on Guts prior to moving to the MLB.
Best comment!😂
That trade refusal is going to go down as one of the biggest blunders in JJTV Guts League history.
When Jimmy asked Zac if "Claw" was on the table, Zac should have said "For 3 1st rounders" I wonder if the trade would have been made and if Zac would have been the Cowboys of the early 90s afterwards
@duffman9908 I guess I'm greedy. I'd throw out 5 and see what Jimmy had to say. If he counters with 2 you say 4 and eventually settle at 3
That blunder was huge. It was almost overshadowed by the wholesomeness and camaraderie of the contestants.......almost.
we need a Jimmy, Jake and Zac score board and the beginning or end of each of these episodes with a guts scoring system. 300 points for a win, 200 for second, 100 for last.
And at the end of the season they have to climb a small mountain.
Please, that would be an awesome 2nd layer to this series.
I agree, but have it be the same insane point distribution as the aggro crag 725 for first, 550 for second and 375 for third
What about Joez?
Joez shares a pick with Zack so they would climb together
Guts crew DEFINITELY showed up drunk for this episode.
Then each snorted an eighth to make up for it
They taped about 10-12 episodes a day back then. You can definitely tell this was towards the end of the taping day.
Agreed! Such a wild ep. JM boys may have been under the influence of something as well. Lol

All 3 competitors had great sportsmanship and it looked like they all had fun. This is a top tier episode of GUTS based on those 3 alone.
These kids were totally gnarly. The best group of contestants I've seen. Also some budding romance with Rachel and Ryan? At the top of the AgroCrag after the event at 30:22, Rachel leaned across Ryan to give a high five to Chris, and it was like she used that moment to get close to Ryan. Jimmy was like "whoa, is she going to kiss him?" lol.
I could see them being a close group of 3 friends, Ryan and Rachel eventually admitting their feelings for each other, Chris feeling alienated for a bit, the falling out of Rachel and Ryan when she moves away with her family, Ryan and Chris making ammends, etc. Script writes itself.
They're measuring the jump like it's a long jump. If you fall back in your long jump attempt, you get credit for where your hand lands because it needs to be a successful jump. But with a height competition it makes no sense to penalize for a bottom mark. Someone could barely touch just their finger tips at 12' and someone else could firmly plant their hand at 12' 5" and they would lose. The only way you could measure from a bottom mark fairly is if only full hand prints count as valid marks which they clearly don't in this game show for children made in the mid 90s that I'm not worked up about at all.
Great point
Can we go back to that crew member holding purple back on that jump? Completely threw off the yin to his yang. Can’t come back after that.
That guy definitely had some money on the line and couldn't afford to lose. So did he what had to do. He's now witness protection because he owes money to the mob.
That was truly wild.... Like... The whistle had clearly blown.
i like how the theory that mike’s on coke becomes more and more undeniable with every episode
They’re all on it. The entire crew are barely holding on, like it’s the end of the season, after two 12 episode days of shooting.
"steady, Mike."
100% agree with Jake, elbow placement during their intro is a huge factor in picking child contestants.
Bro I was dying laughing when he held him back on the first jump. The measuring was so rigged too I am dead

Stats that exist but don’t matter:
•Purple has won the most episodes with 4, blue next with 3, and red the least with only 2
•Jim has won 3 crags in a row
•Blue and Purple are tied for the most crag wins with 4, red only has 1
(All stats are going back the last 9 episodes since they started officially drafting the kids)
I have my own scoreboard going and I'm curious if you missed episode 4. Our placement scores are off by exactly the scores from that game (it was the first ep with Joez instead of Matty)
@@MrNotCreatlve I just double checked and I don't believe so. Are you talking about in total points or episode points? Also that's the 3rd episode for me not the 4th because I only went back 9 episodes. Did you include the one on august 9th? I didn't because they didn't make official picks they just referenced who they were rooting for. Like jim mentioned he was rooting for red to completely dominate or fail miserably, Jake said he was rooting for blue but thought purple could win, and it was all just in conversation not in a draft sense. So maybe that's the difference?
Mo in the background cracking up at the tea time joke 29:09
26:38 - “he’s beloved in his community.”
I’m cackling.
Would actually be sick to track down one of the competitors or staff and bring them on for an interview just to talk about their experience on the show. They made so many episodes I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find someone who'd want to talk about it.
Def, been thinking this for a while
@@samismith8752 I would love it if Mike would do an interview about his time on Nickelodeon in general. He was the host of GUTS and Get the Picture, and I think he was involved with the time capsule too.
In 20 years they’ll make a 30 for 30 episode on Zack’s enormous trade blunder.
How both Jimmy AND Jake didn't react to our immaculate announcer at 7:03 is insane lol 🤣
I really appreciate how you guys really bring a scientific approach to the retro guts matches
The spinelessness of Zack will haunt him forever. An all time fumble. Unreal.
I can't wait for Jomboy to send his researchers out to find that measurer.
Jomboy is going to be the Woj of Guts staff and players.
Those kids are friends to this day
Zac declined the trade so his boss was happy, smart move.
I assume they measure from the base because that's how they do it in Olympic long jump, measure from the furthest point back
They take the lowest part of the mark as your height. In season 1, they only measured your best mark, while in season 2 they measured each valid mark.
14:07 he's pissing in the pool
I want to see the alternate universe version of this video where Zac took the trade and Jomboy is losing his mind as Rachel starts winning and comes in 2nd 😂
This episode is how you remember every episode of guts going.
The only good news here is that the high jump only swung 200 points and Blue beat Purple by 400, so ref blunders as bad as Zac did but it didn’t impact the final tally
I'm gonna defend Zack and his win-now decision. If you think you've got a winner in this game, why give that up hoping you'll choose one in a future game? More a scouting problem than a GM problem.
I don't know man. First round picks are pretty game changing. Could be an obvious win rather than this one where Chris looked 40% or so at the point of the offer
This episode had me in stitches!😂 if you’re going to get 2 picks out of it you need to jump at that chance Zac! Then you’d actually have trade value to offer the others in the future
Can I have Bryan be my life coach? He has very supportive and encouraging vibes. Beloved in his community indeed.
The giant sigh from Zack at the end of the Crag was heartbreaking. The Claw had so much potential that came to nothing.
Can I start an official petition for them to start a watchin' Double Dare/Double Dare 2000?.
I feel like that would be insane
it could be the best content theyve ever put out. figure it out could be cool for a few eps but double dare could be forever
Those would be good. Plus, they might actually learn how to play Double Dare, since they kept answering questions they didn't know when playing the Double Dare NES game.😂
The confidence he had when he refused that trade...
They just wanted to make sure we weren’t taking O’Malley for granted with last week’s departure. Good to be back
Huge for November to have Guts back
Jimmy that’s why b4 the tube round she was so happy and the kids were all high fiving, he asked her to be his gf and she said yes so she wanted to kiss him after the Crag. Duh. Lmao
I remember watching this as a kid thinking out I would dominate these games. It always seemed like they had the least athletic kids out there(i'm sure all the TV stuff made them nervous)
kids way overestimate how athletic they are, so i'd wager you'd probably do about as good as they do.
@@CRneu I would have smashed them all and walked away with two pieces of the Crag. Played all ''ball'' sports and climbed mountains(they are all over the place here) 12-13 year old me is doing better than me now.....lol
@@CactusJackIV ahhh classic "Star Sports player" and "Mountain Climber" Spill your guts Bio
the jump measurements were insane
nobody has ever mixed up Tea Time with Crag Time
Favorite series on UA-cam
That high jump judge was almost as frustrating as some MLB umpires.
You think a certain Angel was the one measuring?
I think the craziest part of all these episodes is the fact that none of the kids seem to have a sense of urgency or go more, like they aren’t actually competing and giving it their all, trying hard, really going for it. They’re all usually really timid about all of it. Strange. I would have been a maniac go go go go go!!! U gotta GO!
All time episode and all time fumble by Zach
So Chris has obviously played tennis somewhat extensively, but I'm just trying to reconcile how he's able to get around on an actual tennis court with his backhand being so ghastly. The forehand was really nice, though.
If this were professional sports, they'd have had to escort the measurer of the high jump event out of the stadium.
Edit: There's apparently a wiki page for Guts that somewhat explains the rules of this game: "Jumps had to include both handprints in order to count. When measuring each valid jump, the lowest portion of the mark was counted. The highest overall jump won."
Seems dumb. Go with the highest two hand mark. Keep it simple.
Highest mark is seriously biased in favor of the tallest kid. I mean the event already is, but it's not fair to give them an extra 3-4" just based on finger length.
i equate it to long jump/triple jump in track and field.
They dont measure how far you go, they measure the nearest point in the sand pit that your body hits.@@arcxjo
@@fundip12that’s what I was going to say. Measuring from the top would follow the 1 handed nfl/nba style high jumps, but bottom is closer to track and field
what if the handprint from another jump blends with the handprint from the winning jump? they're using the same paint colors, you'd have no way to know where the bottom is. on top of that, the ideal strategy is now to use only your fingertips rather than your hands.
the rule is idiotic.
But even with these rules he still measured it wrong for Purple!!! It was insane!!
why wouldnt zack take a 1st and a 2nd for his competitor? you ALWAYS get 3rd and stuck with whomever is left.
This actually would have given you leverage to make more deals in future eipsodes. After this episode is done, you are left with the scraps again.
I wouldnt want Zack to be the GM of my sports team
But like with any pick you dont know how they will perform. He looked like he had a chance for a win. I agreed with Jake at the time. Cant sell at the deadline when it may be your only chance for a win. In hindsight it looks very bad...
Best episode of Guts to date 🔥
The high jump judge is named Angel Hernandez
yesterday was Mike’s bday! i direct a morning news show, put him in our bdays segment
You measure from the bottom of the hand to account for different sized hands. Kids with bigger hands would have an advantage over the smaller kids, and measuring from the bottom accounts for that
Taller kids would already have an advantage and likely a far greater advantage than the inch or two you could get from having longer fingers
Do you think a kid has ever said "I'm going to Disney World!" right after winnin' the 'Crag?
After All Of Jimmy's Offers Get Rejected... "" Thats Why You Don't Lose Hope "" LMAOOO 😂😂😂😂
Jimmy instantly forgot that Rachel does whitewater rafting, he wasn’t ready for that tube round
“Watchin’ Guts” is now my favorite thing on UA-cam. You guys gotta keep it going. There’s tons of other great Nickelodeon competition games that would be great too.
For some reason I just lost my shit when at 10:34 Jimmy offered to trade a future first round pick for The Claw.
18:43 “Judge Jake”
I don't know why there aren't side bets happening for how many times per episode that Mike O'Malley says "aggro crag". I feel like it's always way too many. Like, once the show went off the air, Mike took all home all of the pieces and rebuilt it in his garage and did...really weird stuff on the aggro crag.
Here’s fun fact for any of you Elder Scrolls fans out there. Mo did the voice acting for Karliah in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Round 4 was 100% rigged. That judge gave Chris 2 inches lower than what it actually. Should have been tied. Tough second half for Zach
Nothing beats an unexpected watchin’ upload
There is no way they weren’t trying to handicap the claw bro
Are we seriously gambling picks on a game show from 30 years ago….. yes so what back off! Lol 😂
What a shirt, Mike O’Malley.
Always had a mad crush on Mo.
I wonder if any past Guts contestant is a Jomboy fan and watches these videos waiting for his episode to come up
That odd handshake around 15:50
This episode was Blunderful!
Jimmy said "I'm glad I stuck with her" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
There were accusations nickelodeon producers were helping family members win the prizes on these competition shows.
I love you guys!!! I used to watch this when I was a kid all the time!!! You guys are awesome and hilarious! Keep up the good work! Looking forward to this years games
I was SCREAMING at zack to take the trade. Two first overall picks was his only chance to Rays his way out of poverty
And we're back in action! Thanks for the upload fellas.
5:25 factor jumpscare warning
Are you going to watch Wild & Crazy Kids? Same concept. 3 teams going head to head in competitions like donkey basketball. Where kids rode on donkeys and tried to play basketball. It was on nick for 3 seasons.
That was a great show, haven't even thought about it in 20 years!
its unfortunate they cheated the kids so hard especially after the high jump it felt like the scuminess of the refs took away from bryan's glory even though he's been performing just better
Zac with the blunder! 😂
Guts episode 110 (season 1, episode 10). It was the 39th episode to air during the original run.
That guy absolutely destroyed the claws confidence
For your next episode of Legends of the Hidden Temple, watch S1 E37, Lawrence of Arabia's headdress. TRUST ME.
Thanks for the tip, digging it up
@@RobJaskula So are you like the tech guy, the one behind the scenes?
If you guys can ever find me a piece of the crag, please reach out for a happy holiday season.
Big blunder from Zach. That one will hurt in the championship standings
Zac should feel bad after winning the Mayoral race for Blundersville.
What are the odds that Guts crew had a betting pool between them that caused that hold and that egregious measurement job?
Make Your Mark was wild. How did they score it that way? Also the guy putting the arrows up is named Jake so blame him.
WHAT LOL the hand print one is insane lol
Seems crazy to do bottom of the hand, but with different hand sizes, probably fairer?
Does the final round have points that aren’t even 100s to just confuse kids a little bit so they wait for the ending?
Nah, it's to prevent ties cause they have a set run time.
That was a great episode. ❤
Just finished all the guts videos and this one has to be top 5 for me
These kids were rockstars. Need to find these three and bring them back for warehouse games ep
Boys, we need Moira or O'Malley to come on for these? Lets gooo.
Are you guys keeping a standings? Like how many finishes each of u has in each place, points scored by your drafted players, wins etc… and come up with your Standing in the JOMBOY Watchin League
I know we all say the referee's are blind in every sport but what in the fuck... 24:45
Jimmy - did 14 year old Brandon ever reply to your:
Were you on Guts
Were you on Guts
Were you on Guts
Damn nearly season 3 American gladiators finale Joseph bam bam morrauh vs mark orangutanga Ortega caliber photo finish type of ending right here!!!
This show and Mike are legendary!!! And the Aggro Crag!
Major shenanigans with that jumping event. Did the bungie guy and official have money on this? Something doesn't smell right.
Season 1 Episode 29. Please AJ Mclean from the backstreet boys was on tbis episode
I went to the waterfall in Jamacia when I was 9
Need to see the process of how the judges came up with Rachel’s measurements
Has there been any discussion on doing any of these events in the warehouse?
the second best nickolodeon gameshow, Mo and the aggro crag are top tier along with Kirk and Olmec, but you cant beat legends of the hidden temple
It's fairest to measure from the bottom of the hand. The event is already biased in favor of the tallest kid, with the longest arms, but giving them the additional advantage of longer fingers (since statistically the tallest kid should have the biggest hands) is just BS. You could account for like a foot and a half just based on the kids' heights alone.
