I watch these clips remembering my father.. he loved these guys talked always.. nice to see some good cricket and love you dada.. will always remember you with your love for cricket.
@kulkarnih5695
Any chance you simply enjoy the wonderful game of cricket minus the maudlin (and possibly ersatz) tripe... ? ?
I met Patton in 1986 west indies 5 England 0 and boy patto /Rambo as was called was seriously quick
Seriously underrated bowler
Patrick Patterson - what a bowler. Great to watch action with high front foot lift and cartwheel type finish. Amazing in a long line of great fast bowlers from WI.
Joel Garner and Patrick Patterson were my first idols in 1986 when as a child I plunged into watching cricket. Celebrating 38 years in 2024. 😊😊😊
This 1991 series was one of the greatest series ever played.
I agree. 2 teams stacked with great players in an era when Cricket was tough.
A genuine fast rather express fast bowler.
Current cricket is missing this type of bowler.
@parthasmoulik
Yes, Patterson was very quick, but Mitchell Starc has been clocked at 160km/h, and on their day, Cummins, Bumrah, Mark Wood and Anrich Nortje can crank it up.
👌🏻One of the fastest n fearsome West Indian bowlers. He maintains his pace n accuracy consistently.
Suren Salgado
Fastest of the lot according to Dujon.
Jeff Dujon confirmed Patterson was the fastest bowler he kept to. That's incredible to me
I remember him watching in a 1987 test match at Eden gardens Kolkata.Dilip Vengsarkar scored a gutsy century before he was retired hurt due to a wrist injury caused by a Winston Davis bouncer. Most of the time Patterson was fielding near boundary and cheering to the crowds.
Sanjay mangarekar also injured
Look at Patrick patterson now lost legand very sadful living his life watch on this 😰ua-cam.com/video/DpT5TPUmeCQ/v-deo.html
Absolutely, same here. 😀
2:52
WI wicket keeper Dujon also said that Patterson was the toughest and the fastest bowler he has faced as the wicket keeper.
Patterson, Ambrose, Walsh, Marshall, Bishop, Holding. That's a big line of great fast bowlers.
Garner, Roberts. Joel Garner is arguably the best Limited over bowler ever.
Colin croft, sylvester clarke, charlie griffith, wes hall 😂😂😂😂😂
Learie Constantine & Roy Gilchrist too
what a fantastic athlete Patterson was
Patrick Patterson is very underrated bowler.
Patrick Patterson was my favourite west Indies old bowler and David boon was my favorite batsman
Such a diamonds Never back again great sports Of Cricket legends Nt like nowadays cricket IPL nt much difference between cartoon & IPL 😄😃😀
I Agee v TRUE
What a beautiful run up by Patrick's Patterson, I wish him all the best
@shivarajd2698
Funny you say that as here's an excerpt from his ESPN cricinfo bio:
"Patrick "Patto" Patterson hurtled his inelegant bow-legged way up the hill, thrust his leading leg high."
I meet Boonie once and he told me that he was the fastest he ever faced
Akhtar was Faster
@@999titu boon never faced Akhtar.
@@999titu ahktar used to throw the ball so obviously he was faster
@@boombang1948 not at all , watch videos
Former WI wicket keeper Dujon also said he was the fastest bowler he had faced as a wicket keeper.
Unsung hero of west indies..
Yes. I still remember indian team struggling to handle Patterson during home series in the mid 80's. A genuine quick bowler, forgotten by the cricket World.
Vivek Paul that is because india knew that he will be forgotten and wanted to give him a chance to be remembered .. thats india for u
@@Chandala_bhikshuki 😆😆 Oh! Really. I don't think so. Before coming to India in the series of 1987. Patterson had played against England and he troubled them a lot, with his fast bowling. Graham Gooch, the legendary batsman of England, said that Patterson frightened him with his fast bowling. He troubled the Australian team too. He was the fastest and the most fearsome bowler of his time. He was even faster than Michael Holding and Andy Roberts,as confirmed by the West Indies wicket keeper Jeff Dujon.
David Boon was a very difficult batsman to bowl to
Boon & Marsh were great openers for Australia
Patterson was a very dangerous bowler.
Yeah. "Patrick Patterson replacing Curtly Ambrose" are words that won't comfort any batsman.
Luv Patrick....with falling through the crack is more than enough do more help our cricketers on and off the field. I remembered when the commentators ridiculed him relentlessly.
His runup was quite unique
Vert stylish run up by a fast bowler (Payrick P) with sheer pace. He always bowls very close ti the wickets n difficult to face due to pace n late swing.
He has no recollection of this time in his life. A sad way to end up.
No Jeffery Dujon says that Patrick Patterson was the fastest bowler he ever kept wicket against .
That's true. JD has saud that at an interview involved with famous wicketkeepers'.
I saw him when WI toured in India in late 80s. I used to get scared as If I have to face him. I was only 7-8 years old then.
A great bowler,in Mumbai test,he took six wickets,India were all out for 78 runs,Dilip Vengsarkar was the captain
It is something of a conundrum isn't it. Jeff Dujon stated that there were a few spells from Patterson against the Australians that he felt were faster than any he faced from other W I bowlers. In the same interview when he made the comment, Dujon was asked who he regarded to be the toughest batsman he saw and he replied,"Alan Border." When Border was asked which bowler he considered to be the fastest he ever faced,he said,"Michael Holding." According to A B,Holding bowled a spell at Perth that was so quick,he thought he was going to be "TAKEN OUT" was the term he used. The I C C has a lot to answer for, because timing technology was very much available but was not used for whatever reason.
Probably the quickest ever when he started.
There's always a debate on who is the fastest bowler West Indies has ever produced. Three names always pop up - Michael Holding, Pat Patterson, and Andy Roberts. There was no speed gun to measure each of these bowlers in their prime so it will always remain a matter of opinion
Sylvester Clarke
@@gorgen23Yes,he missed out Sly Clarke. These were the 4 fastest men the West Indies ever produced.
I think the fastest WI bowler was Malcom Marshall
We used to see wi vs India match in B&W tv.
Seeing the patterrson
In those days, windies had deadly dangerous fast bowlers
An interesting fact: Although Patterson played in only 28 tests, his S/R was a fantastic 50.9 but his field settings were such that he conceded too many runs, raising his average to 30.
He was scary quick! I saw him bowl in Australia in the Sheffield Shield state cricket.
On his runup before delivery, he looked like a locomotive engine pumping up.
I saw his bowing in my childhood at age 7 years in black and white tv
Was as quick as anyone when on song.
Is Sir Clive Lloyd doing the technical input on the commentary?
Certainly sounds like him
What's your first prize?
Goat.
Clive asked Greg Chappell.
Excellent cricket
These bowlers would have made a fortune in this era of IPL and T20 leagues. Not to mention the other revenue making avenues as well. Sad that they were in an era when there wasn’t much money to be made in cricket. In fact even in India serious money started flowing in only in the late 90s and even then into a handful of cricketers made good money like Sachin. Most cricketers of that era retired as upper middle class ppl.
Great time in world cricket
The ball goes zoom zoom
👍🏼👌🏻
Nice cricketer
Wow 52 cans !! On a flight to London! I think they add on a extra can every time someone tells boonies drinking record story!!😁😁😁😁😁
Windies had unlimited cricket talent
But they dnt look after their sportsman after they retire
he used to bowl 165 kmph, but unfortunately never officially recorded.
Why not 190/180
@@999titu he was over 160 for sure.
@@OrbvsTomarvm you can't say for sure when you don't have proof to corroborate the same.
Otherwise you can say anything.
@@999titu u r right. I think even if he was 1-2 miles slower than lee/akhtar, the bounce he would regularly get from his strong shoulders off good length probably would make him more dangerous
@@999titu Dujon kept wickets for WI during the hey days of their fast bowling dominance. He has corroborated that he was the fastest ever to whom he kept wickets for.For long Dujon kept wickets for the likes of Holding, Marshall, Garner, Roberts, Walsh, Ambrose. If Dujon says he was the fastest then 165+ is very much possible.

Patterson was unplayable at that series.
Right
I heard he was so big that his shoes were cut open from front to allow his toes
Peterson replacing Curtly Ambrose. Absolutely No breathing space for batsman in those era.
Dujon said Patterson was the quickest he kept to.
Could someone tell us(Patrick Patterson fans) what Patto is doing these days or today plz.
Suffering from mental illness, living in Jamaica and doesnt remember much about Cricket..... sadly
My favourite Bowler
Is it good old Clive Lloyd the expert commentator ?
No matter how fast they are Ambrose is the most dangerous i ever seen
Fastest spell faced by Gooch was against Paterson
Pattrik could not varied his bowling only faster so he couldn't find his places
David boon my favorate player..
He touched 170 without too much fuss,,grossly underrated
Why not say 180/90
@@999titu badmind reading everyone's comment praising Patterson then replying with something negative
Jeff dijon was asked by a reporter who do you consider faster bowler he told he was Patterson
Mark Taylor is an ideal man to do comparison. As he faced, Pattrick here, and then Zahid/Akhtar when he scored 300 +. So he should be able to tell in terms of who he considers quickest based on his experience.
People can lie. People can also be effected by perception (i.e someone can appear faster or slower than they actually are).
@@truthseeker3536 agree, but the whole of Jeff Thompson stuff is more anecdotal than facts. He being measured at batsman end is a myth he himself populated and is false.
No one ever scored a triple century against that W I bowling attack, so that should help a little in arriving at an opinion.
When was this played??
Late '80 till 1992/1993
This was in the Caribbean in 1991
@@shaunstelfox1718 many thanks
I guess he was bowling 75-80 mph

❤️🔥
Patrick Patterson the jamaican express !
He was lively fast medium
Gus Logie..does not drop..Period
patterson marshall and ambrose HAHAHAHA gud luck batsman.
What Patrick is doing now?
I’ve read a couple of articles about him which have suggested he is a recluse. Made it sound to me (as someone who has suffered myself) as though he suffered with depression. I saw some great spells from him in his Lancashire days even though he wasn’t a resounding success overall there.
Just found this
indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/patrick-patterson-an-unquiet-mind-4762590/
I read that interview with the Indian journalist and there’s a video on UA-cam showing his visit to find Patrick and also shows him and Patrick having the conversation that ends up in the article.
Patterson is living very poor life nowadays...Very pitty
West Indies cricket board and their current players dnt believe is looking after their old war horses patrik patterson is also one of them on other hand In india a low standard player like akash chopra also earns millions with his blabbering
He was the fastest bowler
Shanon Gabriel bowling action similar.
Patterson was much quicker than gabriel. Patterson was always 95+ MPH i felt

Arguably The Fastest West Indian Bowler But I Feel The Talent Was Wasted
And now is living anonymsly in poverty
Andy Robert 157.5.. Joel garner 150km maximum speed..michael holding 153km..Malcolm marshal speed is 151km.. Courntey walsh speed 149km.. Curltly Ambrose 147km.. Patrick Petersen 148km.. and winsten benjamin 142km..
Where did you get these numbers from? Did you guess these?
Marshall and Holding were much quicker
Patterson was indeed very fast a yard quicker than Marshall and Holding. Dujon has said that Patterson was the fastest bowler he has kept to.
No one is interested in cricket except India and Pakistan.🤣🤣🤣. Jokes aside maybe only way to forget their poverty atleast for sometime.
I'm from Australia, a first world country and I love cricket.
Do you think India is a poor country....
Poor man don't watch Cricket in India.
@@bonjourr100
I think you are fanatic of fast bowling. Actually it's very difficult to calculate the speed of those bowlers unless you have very good quality video.
You have to spot the release point of the ball and next when it hits the stumps.
In case you don't get bowled wickets then try to spot how far the batsman is from the stumps.
But very good quality video is must.
The standard calculation is time taken from the release point to reach the batsman/3600.
Then divide 0.020 / result obtain.
Now if the ball has hit the batsman when he is on the crease. Then he will be a meter ahead of the stump. So this time calculation will be.
0.019/ result obtain.
First do this with videos where you can see the speed clearly. Then after learning how to do it use it on old videos.
@@tambekatumba8425 bro it's not correct bowling action is calculated at hand release
"FIXED MATCH."
Patterson was nowhere near as fast here as he was in 86. In fact, I don't think he ever got close to that again (maybe Melbourne 88). Holding, Marshall, Roberts et al kept their pace high for longer than Balfour. In 86 though he was probably the fastest of them all for that short period of time.
He was still the fastest on that 87/88 tour of Australia.
