I am a novice knitter at the age of 72, but loved the rosary jumper, it took me 9 attempts to get the pattern correct, it’s not hard once you get started, I just didn’t understand how to read the pattern, finished the back, really proud of the result, just the rest to make ❤
A little tip for those who struggle with pilling: you can buy little electric shavers that are designed to safely remove the pilling on your garments. If you’ve used fine wool like mohair, you can buy a sort of ‘comb’ to remove them. They are often called cashmere combs and they look like a little scraper tool, not a comb at all 😂 And finally: there is something called a ‘snag’ took, it looks like a sewing needle, but the end where normally the eye is situated has a grippy surface. You just stick the needle in the fabric right next to/ or into the snag and pull it through the fabric, it will pull the snag to the backside of the fabric and you won’t see it at all. #thingsyoulearn #whenyouhaveacat #andlikefiberarts 😂😂😂😂
As someone who prefers more fitted garments myself - it's always worth redoing something for a better fit! You'll feel so much happier with it made the way you prefer, which means it can never be overkill. So I say do it! Your Rosery jumpers are my favourite of your knits - I adore the pink, but I do think you're right about burnt orange suiting you the best.
Hi Janelle! I just got into knitting about a year ago! I'm a left-handed knitter and have sort of made up a knitting method that works for me, but it's very similar to yours, and watching your knitting videos has been so helpful! Also, I've met Sarah Gets Dressed in person before! They're so genuine and talented and kind! ❤
I loved the rosary jumper so much I have knitted it 5 times in different colours, and used the lacy pattern for 3 cardigans too, l Just like you, I knit for months, then leave it for a while then go back to it, Thank you for sharing that pattern and all your makes, have a lovely week
Hi Janelle, I’m just now seeing this video of yours, not sure how I missed it. I would knit the jumper again. You already know you love it and enjoy knitting so then you will have the fit you want. You may have already decided but thank you for sharing ❤️
Another sweater resizing tip to potentially save you having to remake it: put it in the dryer. You can check on it every 5 minutes to see how it’s going and make sure you don’t completely felt it :) and a de-piller or even a razor should sort the cardigan out!
I’ve shrunk woollens by putting them through a tumble dry. If it doesn’t shrink enough a slightly hotter wash first will do it. Too much heat and it could end up fitting a small child so be careful.
Highlyyyy reccommend soaking it in warm water with wool soap, then blocking it. I haven't tried blocking things yet, but all the knitting people swear by it. I've been knitting for years but only been advancing my knowledge beyond scarves, over the past 2 years. Things get bigger through wear, and you can bring it back to the original size through washing and blocking. Hope that helps
For the Rosary sweater, i would highly reccomend making a big Swatch, and measuring it both before and after blocking to get a better idea of size. You can also measure the gauge of your current sweaters to get even more information!
I'm a knitter of fifteen years, but only just now getting into garment knitting! I can't wait to try the Rosary Jumper, and I really want to try the Popcorn cardigan ❤
You can absolutely knit the Rosery Jumper again with the yarn you found - and if it isn't enough, maybe take some from the big jumper? It's not ideal, but it's a good back-up plan!! I've had the pattern for ages (downloaded it the second I saw it years ago!) and haven't made it yet. I have the perfect yarn for it, though!
I just stumbled upon your channel and I have to say you're a very lively person, as in you look very alive 😅 One can tell that you're a creative person, you sort of glow from within 😊✨ I want to confront how weird I feel about sewing machines, you're blessed that you can knit AND sew (I'm a new knitter and I also paint)
As someone who enjoys knitting and sewing but definitely does more of the former, so it was lovely to see a more knitting-forward video from you! The Rosery jumper looks beautiful, and as someone who also prefers more fitted and cropped jumpers, I can appreciate why you'd want to knit it again. My suggestion would be to choose a slightly more "rustic" 100% wool yarn that has a little bit less drape - I find that these sort of yarns tend to wear better than their softer (ie, merino type fibers) counterparts, so if you already know that this garment will be getting a lot of wear this might be a nice workaround? Good luck! 🧡
Yes, at first this was what I was going to do, but I’ve since learnt that the stretched fibres can make the ply and thickness of the yarn inconsistent which would result in a messier knit.. I managed to get my hands on some more of the exact yarn, so I’m just going to reknit 😊
I am a "mood" knitter as well. In late Summer as we head into Autumn I get the urge to knit. My favorite is your creamy white cardigan, because I have some wool to knit a similar one. But I also like the pattern of your Rosery jumper. Thanks, Janelle.
❤❤❤❤My goodness, you have knitted quite a few projects. They are all very nice. My favorite are the last two.. peaches and creamccx and the stripes. Good job on all of them. 8
My favs are the popcorn cardigan and the peaches & cream jumper - thank you so much for making this video, I'm an Aussie in Greater London and it is autumnal and cooler, the time will soon switch and it'll start getting dark at 4.30pm or so - love this cosy weather 💕🙌
Your videos are very inspiring! I've made the popcorn cardigan two years ago in, of course, burnt orange color, and it's my favourite piece to wear in autumn and winter! I get compliments on this cardigan all the time, it's so cute 🥰
This was so fun! Loved seeing all your gorgeous knits. I think my faves are Rosery, popcorn and the feather fan at the end. I would love a pattern for that one if you can ☺️❤️
Hey Janelle, I am no knitter but great at shrinking garments! If you’re considering re knitting it anyway you could always throw caution to the wind and pop it on a hot wash then tumble dry? What have you got to loose? Ps. I have received my pansy dress pattern and am beyond excited to sew it up in original, pinafore hack and now the amazing ruffle version. Eek! Xxx
Hi Janelle, is it super wash yarn? It grows a lot over time I find. Maybe you can consider switching yarn, just so you don't go through the effort of remaking the sweater only to end up with the same problem...good luck!
I think I remember you saying you used Bendigo woollen mills for the burnt orange jumper. I think it’s superwash yarn which means it usually stretches when you wash it buuuut you might be able to hand block it to shape it a little smaller!
What about cutting down the middle of the oversized jumper to make it into an oversized cardigan, binding the edges. Then, knit another jumper in the size and color you want. You'll have a cardigan in your favorite color AND a jumper in your size and favorite color.
Im just finishing my rosery jumper after working on it since feb, my first knitting project and its turned out amazing 😄 just working out how to get the cast off on the neckline loose enough, i tried loris twisted cast off which seems to work well but need to redo it as was still a little tight. One thing i would say if you are making another video for the rosery jumper would be good to show a bit more how the sleeves are attached, as a complete beginner I was a bit lost and struggled to find examples online on how to connect them. Luckily my mum is an experienced knitter so I was able to get some guidance 😊 love the rest of your knits and am already pondering my next project!
After following you since you started I have knitted 2 Aosta cardis, one of which was for my daughter-in-law for Christmas with a cropped length and she loved it, I am just knitting the 2nd sleeve of the Rosary jumper in a denim blue and I have loved how it knits and how the patterns progresses to make the lace effect, so thanks for the inspiration, I would love to knit the wavy pattern jumper x
You could try shrinking aka felting your sweater while putting it in a dryer. But I strongly recommend to stray right next to the drying machine and watch it as closely as possible. It should take just a few minutes. I once tried to shrink something in the washing machine but if the machine starts, nothing can stop it. The dryer on the other hand is willing to open its door whenever you want to check it.
For your burned orange Rosary jumper, you could try to block it to a smaller size. There are tons of videos on UA-cam that explain the process. I have also had success with "knitting surgery", where I unpicked the bind off and frogged the hem and one or two lace repeats and then reknitting the hem, to make it shorter. Also, I sometimes sew or knit in a very thin elastic thread in the waist hem for a few rounds in order to keep the stretch with wear. I find that a hem that sits perfectly around the waist in particular looks flattering on dresses. Hope this helps! I will definitely give the Rosary Jumper a go myself! Love from the Netherlands ❤
That shade of pink looks wonderful on you!!! You need to wear it!! I am mid 60’s having trouble finding the pattern. Didn’t see a link?? Would love to see a tutorial on making it please. ❤
I used to knit a lot when I'd travel by train to and from work years ago. Living in Qld, there's a limited time for knitting as it's too hot. I have a cream 8ply wool cable jumper I made that I can't get rid of even though it's way too small for me. My granddaughters can't stand the feel of it even though it's not scratchy. I've also got a cardigan I bought 25years ago at the markets in Hobart during my one and only visit to Tassie. It's beautiful varigated wool but I've worn it once maybe as we don't get the prolonged cold to use it.
I love all your beautiful knits ❤ in my opinion the orange rosery jumper looks perfect on you in this a little oversized style 😊 do you dry your knitted jumpers laying flat? That can prevent too much stretching out too 😊
Hi I would donate the burnt orange jumper and reknit it. However if you use the same yarn would it stretch again if even hand wash? I'm interested in the popcorn cardigan can you give more instruction of how to place the bobbles. I love the wavy jumper what ply yarn did you use the pattern was 3ply. Great video thanks Sam
Can you use elastic thread or tiny elastic and thread it through the ribbing to tighten it up a bit ...just a thought...yes in Canada days are getting shorter temp dropping ..
I love your knits! I think they are beautiful, your vintage ones in particular. Would love to knit one of the rosary ones for myself! If you do remake yours, you could always reuse the wool from your stretched out one to reknit a new one if you need that shade of wool. 😊 Also heat can shrink the wool, maybe soak it in hot water or low tumbledry/ iron to try shrink it?
You could thread rows of shirring elastic through the ribbing of your jumper to tighten it up. At least you could try this before undoing and starting again. I have a very similar knitting pattern, which was my mum's from the 1940s. The only difference is that the ribbing is in moss stitch and the neckband extends to make a tie. I prefer your ribbed version.
I love your knits, Janelle! What kind of yarn fibre do you use to make your knits (not kits)? As a fellow Aussie (Melb) I struggle to find affordable yarn suitable for the weather. Do you often buy the yarn from Spotlight?
It's been so warm this October I forgot it was fall. I was surprised when she said she was heading into summer, as we're on the opposite sides of the equator.
Depending on the yarn composition could you try and dye the pink rosary jumper, as I find it very easy to make nice browns with dye. But I would definitely make another if it’s a nice pattern to knit.
I'm a crocheter and have recently got back into knitting. Just wondering where you get your wool from and what type of yarn you've used for your knits? Thank you x
I think I need to knit the Rosery pattern as my next project! And then maybe that wavy one... Unfortunately i deal with hand and wrist pain often from knitting so I cant make things quickly, and theres too much i want to knit that i cant get through it all! 😅 Can i ask what yarn you used for the Rosery pattern? I always struggle with yarn choice to get the right gauge
Totally have a go at knitting it, it’s such a lovely pattern! My favourite yarn is 8ply from Bendigo Woollen Mills (I totally should’ve mentioned that in the video, sorry!)
I think you could alter your brown-orange rosery Jumper if it isn't too scary! You could take it apart, serge the panels down to the next size, and reassemble - a challenge perhaps?
I can’t promise it will work for all knitwear and every machine dryer, but I’ve found that if my wool and cotton sweaters are damp (but not drenched), letting them sit ON TOP of the dryer as it runs the regular cycle with other clothing is helpful for getting it back into the correct shape. The heat coming of the dryer is still warm but you’re not risking a snag and also, it’s not *too* warm. I do wonder if putting a damp sweater over a bust form and using a hair dryer on a low setting would have a similar effect
Hi 👋 could you share the pattern details of the vintage wavy jumper please? I'd love to keep an eye out for it here in WA. That is the most beautiful knitted jumper I've ever seen!! Great colour combo.
It would be a lot of work, but you could always frog the oversized Rosary sweater and reknit it. You would have to tie and wash the yarn after you pull it apart, but it would solve the issue of not having enough of the burnt orange yarn.
If you knit your sweater that's stretched out of superwash yarn then you should wash it and dry it in the dryer on low heat and it will shrink back to the size it was when you first knit it, and it won't felt. Super wash yarn is designed to be machine washed and dried.
i think you should reknit the jumper since you already have the yarn and would like it better and you could also wear this one too when you want it more loose, or give it to someone
You could always knit a Rosery Slipover with the leftover yarn if you frog and reknit the other. I’ve also heard some knitting podcasters say that Wool and the Gang fibers pill really bad. I think they end up holding them with other yarns to try and combat it. Lastly… I know it’s not your typical content but would you ever have your mom on your channel? To discuss how to foster a love of handicrafts in your children?
I've been knitting since 2003, and when crochet finally clicked in 2022, I was OFF AND RUNNING with crochet afghans. My poor neglected knitting needles! Right now, though, I'm working on a basic raglan pullover in a plum-brown tweed yarn. I absolutely LOVE that striped pullover. Years ago, I made a feather-and-fan baby blanket. Isn't that the most satisfying "fancy" pattern?
I am a novice knitter at the age of 72, but loved the rosary jumper, it took me 9 attempts to get the pattern correct, it’s not hard once you get started, I just didn’t understand how to read the pattern, finished the back, really proud of the result, just the rest to make ❤
I wish we could post pics on YT. I don't do other social media. I'm a new knitter too!
A little tip for those who struggle with pilling: you can buy little electric shavers that are designed to safely remove the pilling on your garments.

I’ve made the Rosery jumper. It’s a good pattern. You could frog your current jumper and re-knit it with the same yarn.
As someone who prefers more fitted garments myself - it's always worth redoing something for a better fit! I would knit the rosery jumper again. Seeing you being so happy with the perfect jumper was a joy. ❤
Get a sweater stone and use it on your pilled sweater. I have one and it worked miracles on my pilled items without destroying the fabric!
Love the episode! And your style taste. So glad also to have made the discovery of the Rosery pattern - thank you.
So excited to hear about the extended sizing for the Rosery Jumper!
I love the wavy patterned sweater the most! I also like the popcorn when you wear it occasionally in your videos.
I loved the rosary jumper so much I have knitted it 5 times in different colours, and used the lacy pattern for 3 cardigans too, l Just like you, I knit for months, then leave it for a while then go back to it, Thank you for sharing that pattern and all your makes, have a lovely week
Your cloths are admirable. Getting inspired !

Hi Janelle, you have definitely inspired me to do a knitting project. I'm inlove with the colour chocolate brown ❤
Thank you for sharing xx
Love them all. Want to see your crochet now!

This!! I was searching if someone had already commented putting it in the dryer

I second the throw it in the dryer comment. What is the yarn made of?

Knit it again! Knit it all you like, it’s not overkill at all. ESPECIALLY if you enjoy the knit
For the Rosary sweater, i would highly reccomend making a big Swatch, and measuring it both before and after blocking to get a better idea of size. You can also measure the gauge of your current sweaters to get even more information!
Three cheers for Sarah!!
i highly recommend over dying or frogging a garment if it'll allow you to wear it more often
Pink is lovely on you ❤
These knits are the cutest!
I adore both the Rosery jumper and the wavy one... maybe one day they can fit into my queue!
I'm a knitter of fifteen years, but only just now getting into garment knitting! I can't wait to try the Rosary Jumper, and I really want to try the Popcorn cardigan ❤

I love all your creations! And I enjoyed listening to you talk about them while working on my crocheted cardigan ❤

Wonderful! I've gotten into knitting this year for the first time and am having so much fun! Lovely to see your finished projects 💛
Janelle, you are so inspiring to me! ❤
I love the Rosary jumper (I would probably make it a bit longer 😊). I would love to see a tutorial of the re-make, but in a different colour!
❤❤❤❤My goodness, you have knitted quite a few projects. They are all very nice. My favorite are the last two.. peaches and creamccx and the stripes. Good job on all of them.

Rusty rosery jumper was def my favorite... that's why I think you should 1000% make another!!!!
The jumper i love the most on you is the pink jumper.... it's gorgeous on you! Following this one i think the stripey one would have to be next. 💜
My favs are the popcorn cardigan and the peaches & cream jumper - thank you so much for making this video, I'm an Aussie in Greater London and it is autumnal and cooler, the time will soon switch and it'll start getting dark at 4.30pm or so - love this cosy weather 💕🙌

Reknit, definitely 😊. Just love all your knits!
It’s happening!
Wonderful video! I love your style, and that wavy jumper is just gorgeous. 🤩 I’m really hoping you’ll be able to share the pattern! 🩷🙏🏻
This was so fun! Loved seeing all your gorgeous knits. I think my faves are Rosery, popcorn and the feather fan at the end. I would love a pattern for that one if you can ☺️❤️

For anyone interested, the Jean Sweater by Kolibri by Johanna is very similar to Janelle’s wavy stripes sweater ✌️
Use a Lint Shaver device. They are a gamechanger for pilling. I have a Phillips one and it is awesome. :)
Hi Janelle, is it super wash yarn? It grows a lot over time I find. Maybe you can consider switching yarn, just so you don't go through the effort of remaking the sweater only to end up with the same problem...good luck!

Can you use elastic thread or tiny elastic and thread it through the ribbing to tighten it up a bit ...just a thought...yes in Canada days are getting shorter temp dropping ..
You can buy a little gadget that cuts off pilling, they are great 😊
Would love the wavy jumper pattern. I made the rosary jumper
I would love to see more knitting tutorials. I have no idea how to knit beyond finger knitting, but i would love to try.
Love your channel! Just undo your jumpers and use that yarn! 🎉
I love your knits! I think they are beautiful, your vintage ones in particular. Would love to knit one of the rosary ones for myself! I've been looking everywhere for the popcorn cardigan or pattern for it! What pattern did you alter? That's exactly how I want mine to look like😍
I love the wavy striped jumper, been looking for something like this for a long time! I need the pattern, please make it happen! :)
Love the wavy knit. Hopefully you can release the pattern!
You could thread rows of shirring elastic through the ribbing of your jumper to tighten it up. At least you could try this before undoing and starting again. Peaches and cream one is my favorite ❤❤❤❤

Totally have a go at knitting it, it’s such a lovely pattern! My favourite yarn is 8ply from Bendigo Woollen Mills (I totally should’ve mentioned that in the video, sorry!)
@@RoseryApparel Thank you!
Would love to knit the wavy sweater ❤
And so impressed by how wearable your knits are.
Maybe you can dye the pink sweater, that hasn´t streach out.
also love this suggestion - I'd love to see Janelle tackle dyeing!
The thumbnail made my day 😂

Lovely knits, you can de fuzz your chunky cardi, and re knit, does that mean frog that jumper and re knit? I’ve done that a few times and it’s fine!
Great video and very inspiring ❤ One thing that always stumps me with handmade knits is how to wash them. Any tips?
I hand wash only and then dry flat on a towel 👌🏻
I do love crochet and sewing ❤. Do not know how to knit yet 😢
I really have to learn to knit. ❤❤ I am 4 months pregnant, and I would love to make a baby rosary jumper!.😊❤❤❤
You make me wish I could knit.😂
I've been knitting since 2003, and when crochet finally clicked in 2022, I was OFF AND RUNNING with crochet afghans. My poor neglected knitting needles! Right now, though, I'm working on a basic raglan pullover in a plum-brown tweed yarn. I absolutely LOVE that striped pullover. Years ago, I made a feather-and-fan baby blanket. Isn't that the most satisfying "fancy" pattern?
