Great job and thanks for sharing! So many yachts on the Fort Lauderdale New River. I'm at River Reach condo and love these super yachts coming just outside my window. We sit by the pool just to see the daily boat parade. The riverboat Jungle Queens comes by a couple times a day. Then the super huge motor yacht with the tugs. Cool boat life here in Fort Lauderdale. Thanks again for posting Captain!

Thank you so much! 😊 That’s such a beautiful spot to be! We had to pass the Jungle Queens a couple times coming through there. They’re pretty fast lol. We saw several really large yachts getting towed by tugs. It’s amazing what those tugs do 😅

Thank you for clearly sharing with us the challenges of navigating these draw bridges and their opening schedules. Also the challenges of navigating through tight spaces too. I felt the tension with you during the video

Just wanted to tell you guys how good your videos are. Have you thought about going to the Annapolis Sailboat show in mid October? That would give your channel a boost for sure.

It's been some years since I had my first sailboat up the New River. It was docked on one of the citrus isles finger canals. just south of Davie Blvd. Whenever I'd go out, I had to navigate all of the New River bridges just like you did. At the time, some of the bridges were timed. Davie Blvd & 7th Ave were not too much of a problem. But the Andrews and 3rd Ave bridges were a challenge. There were timed to go 15 minutes apart. So once you got through one, you had to haul butt to make the next bridge. If you misses it, it was a 30 minute wait in a very crowded area. And the current sometimes runs very fast making it very difficult to hold your position. Also, you must have done the trip off season. During the season (winter), the river is usually lined with large yachts, making it even tighter. Also, going on Saturday was smart. During the week, you'd likely encounter tugs hauling the big yachts up to the maintenance facilities.
BTW, YOT is one of my favorite restaurants.

I feel your pain, the Florida ICW is a slow and stressful trip.

Quick comment re: bow thrusters. I appreciate your stress but can assure you that with time comes experience and soon you’ll master control of the boat without a bow thruster. How do I know? Been there done that. I had a bow thruster installed on my 36’ about 9 years ago, used once and that was after a dock hand abruptly changed where he was directing us.

Good to know! We’ve gotten pretty good at maneuvering without them. I don’t think I would do the canal with a head current without them though. It’s pretty tight

i dont see the appeal of florida boating... at least on the east coast. no wake zones, bridges , or you are out on the ocean. thats it. there are other things to boating than just sunny weather. nice vid though , you did a nice job of showing it
