You discovered why aluminum makes great heat sinks. I moved that quick when I picked up a rock that had been in my burn pile. Glove had a hole in the thumb... Yeah, that rock got dropped real fast. Hopefully your repair holds up so they will stop telling you what to do with it!

Best advice I can give after 2 years, sit with it and watch it till you get a feel for it.
Cook at a lower temp then they call for, or you would use in the oven for the same thing.
The drip just makes it stronger, you knew that. 😳

Good job on the welding. I am curious to see how just omitting it will work. You may be on to something. My only concern is will the coolant be cool enough by the time it circulated when the truck engine is off. I wonder if the fan would be enough to keep it cooled. It might if the engine is cooled off before you run the APU.

Yep, you got scammed. Good job on the radiator. You are incorrect about coolant not colling better than just water. Coolant can give up its heat quicker than pure water. So yes, it can cool. Also, it has a higher boiling point. Lastly it will help keep rust from forming if it is kept fresh.
Have you tried looking on ebay or Amazon for 1 of them Radiators? Shit actually it looks like normal heater core to me from what i see of it, have you tried comparing that 1 to a heater core ? Or if you can bypass that Radiator i would just bypass the SOB and be Done with it.

That is soldering. There is no fusion of materials as only the filler material reached a molten state. If there is a gasket on that header you smoked the shit out of it. If you bumped the elbow and it didn't hold... It isn't a repair. If a person does not remove the layer of aluminum oxide there is zero chance of it holding.
I don't know what TF your "it isn't coolant" was about because it is a coolant. Like many coolants it has additional properties for the application (lubrication, corrosion protection, decreased freeze point, cavitation suppression). Even oil is a coolant.

Each time you heat it up 50 times your first and second are getting weaker and weaker.
Removing the radiator not a great idea that water pump in that motor will not push coolant through the truck radiator overheating the APU

I tried JB weld on a Traxxas Revo aluminum exhaust pipe. I let it set up for two days to make sure it was cured. It only held for maybe five minutes. The fuel was 20% nitro. I'm not sure what caused the JB Weld to go soft again, but the only three ingredients in it is nitromethane, methanol, and mineral oil.

Hey, we've all been scammed in one way or another. It's nice that you have discretionary cash, so that it's not a big deal. I was a pro poker player for 15 years, part time to full time. Sometimes the poker lessons (whether learned by me, or by my opponents) weren't free, as we would say. But for anyone paying attention, the lessons were worth the price if future play improved.
I'm guessing you got $240 smarter. And if you didn't, that's a lesson worth something to you also.
Next time, offer to put on their donut pare tire, and take their mint OEM Mercedes wheel and high-end tire for $100. Though you still have risk that the car is stolen, so maybe $40 instead, lol. You'll find out whether they're having an emergency or not.
Robert it looks like @ 10:30 that all but 3 rows of fins on that rad are all folded over....it's likely not doing it's job well at all. I think you should bite the bullet and get a new one or do the bypass that you've been talking about. Thanks for watching.....I mean reading😆

Alum spreads the heat throughout the whole piece, not like steel that just gets hot where you heat it up. So never pick up alum with out gloves, and that’s why it took longer to heat it up cause you heating up that whole piece. Just like TIG welding it takes more amps to do alum over steel TIG welding
