    My brother, you have to understand that in Europe each sport club have teams in all sports, football, basketball, handball, volleyball, etc.. So when you are a fan of a club you can go and support it no matter what the sport is. Saturdays you watch football and Sundays you go to the basketball game. You support the same club. That's why you get the 'crazy' ultras at any sport.

There is Nothing NBA fans can do that scare European player. problem is opposite, European player might get used with no pressure and they might have hard time back in Europe when pressure is higher.

    To me ; from what i've seen, i never been to any american game ; the difference is "money vs passion" , like in America it's more for the entertainment, in Europe it's really a passion we have for the sport, also the clubs have history behind it that often goes back to beginning of 1800's and sometimes even more, because of our table style league, it don't matter big club our smaller club, every match is important, because of the relegation, because the clubs have a reputation and standards to keep, because a lot of games are derbys or rivalries,...

  • @manwavision
    @manwavision Рік тому +45

    In Europe we are supporters, not "fans".... We are engaged and fully committed to the team, it's not entertainment.... We can't go to a game and sit around, we got to get up and scream and sing and jump up and down and be there for our team.

  • @Vulcano92
    @Vulcano92 Рік тому +38

    The big difference between USA and Europe is that in EU you don't really go to the stadium or the arena to actually WATCH the game. You go to support your team!! Your team doesn't need you to be just like you'd be in your living room with your friend, your team needs you to be part of them. That's also the reason why you don't see people walking around, go back and forth or anykind of other activities in the stands DURING the game. You're here to SUPPORT. You're not at the mall, you can drink or eat as much as you want before, after the game or at half time, but DURING THE GAME IS PURE DISREPECT.
    I'm a big PSG fan, I go to the stadium since 1999 ,back when our team was terrible. In our stand, if you sit, you're out , if you don't sing, you're out, if you're not wearing some blue and red, well.....we'll sent you buy a scarf or a hat immediately.
    In the US you guys are customers, that doesn"t mean you don't like your team, but you go to the stadium as spectators. Of course you can scream, you can complain about the referee's decision and stuff, but like a spectator would do. I'm telling you, after a game I 'm so tired that it feels like I was on the field, we can spend minutes under a tifo, blocking your view, just so are players, the other team players and their fan can see it.
    When I go to a game, I know I will barely watch it and that I'll need to watch a recap later on ahahah
    I hope you guys will ever feel that in your life, I know in the US you consider sports more like a show . NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL are NOT national sport's feds, they're private COMPANIES, that' makes a HUGE difference.

  • @83hudini
    @83hudini Рік тому +14

    in the US if the owner of a club disagrees with local authorities he can move the club to another city, so 1 day you have a local club, the next it's finished. In Europe this is not possible. Owner changes but the club does not move out of the city. So, most clubs have been around for 100+ years, this is the club your father brought you as a little kid, he was brought by his father before that, etc.

    There is a fundamental difference to be understood between American and European punters. In America, there are two types of people who go out to a game. does stupid dances.
    In Europe, especially the ultras are looking for the tribal spirit. We belong to a tribe, our team is our champions, and the opponent is actually an enemy that must be defeated. Fortunately, this mostly only happens on the field, but I would not advise anyone to use the opponent's symbols get ready and go into an ultra sector, because there are no riot police who will get you out alive. If there is something that an average ultra hates, it is provocation.
    Perhaps this is the reason why the majority of people in Europe do not like pretend sports, if they can watch real ones instead. I'm thinking here of pankration, American football, and the like.

      The first European game is from late 2000s the earliest.
      I can tell from the banners and the uniforms and the big video screen that wasn't installed before mid 2000s .
      Also at same point they sing a parody of the song "why don't you get a job " from offspring that was released at 1998 . Aris fans change the lyrics and start singing also in the mid 2000s

    In Europe it's been a long time since it taken a form of hooliganism, even fascism ('we all as one' true sense of word fascism). These games in Europe - 20 years ago, people were murdering opposite teams fans.
    In Serbia one bum put a lit totch into the policemen's mouth, the cop barely survived, scarred for life. The fan was prosecuted but there are graffitis on buildings in urban areas saying stupid stuff like "justice for Uros (the name of the bum)". It's a gang subculture.
    Similar stuff happened in other European countries, stabbings, massive fights after the match, led by fan groups (gangs) etc..
    USA games are family safe. In Europe, nowadays it gets there, but still gets hectic. What you see are relicts of these dangerous times. Indeed it was i tended to intimidate the visiting team or simply the other team (if fans were from the same city like Partizan and Red Star in Belgrade) or Olympiakos and Panathenaikos in Athens, etc...bloody rivalries.

    As you can see two of the three examples from Europe were the same fans/team from Greece, where the Ultras are insane anyway. It' ain't like that all over Europe, especially not for basketball.
    Whoever made that comparison was probably European, maybe even from Greece, and picked those examples to prove his point.

      it's not like that everywhere in basketball in Europe because it's not really a very popular sport but what it shows above all is that in Europe this craze exists everywhere and is not punished expulsion because you sing too loud lol. we don't go to see a match just to have fun but to support a team, we give ourselves to support them and the players reciprocate.

    • @daviddieudonne7829
      @daviddieudonne7829 Рік тому +2

      Sure, it’s not like that all over Europe, but prove his point he did.
      And let’s not forget the nba is one team for an entire state, here it’s for a city or even a part of a city, we (in Europe) have many many more teams, we have several divisions in each country. Imagine if we only had 1 team for each country, it would be even more insane.
      You just can’t compare.
      Lastly, I wonder how often fans go support their team in the USA and how often fans go support theirs in Europe. In the USA it’s a family trip, probably once a year they go, in Europe it’s game-day and you go with your friends. Not saying there are no families, but majority aren’t with family and will be there again in 2 weeks and (maybe) follow the team on out-games.
      You have less of neutral fans in Europe, in the USA you go watch a game, you don’t go support a team, let alone a state or city.

    I try to somehow explain.
    First in all Europe and in all sports there A club is not a Franchise
    Bayern Munich is and will be in Munich they don't get sold and go to another city.
    In most sports and Europe you have clubs from a city you can have multiple clubs in the same sport and league from a single city.
    That's the normal
    And some clubs have teams in many sports like bayern Munich always was a football team but recently established a basketball team.
    So now you can go normal again you may like and support 1860 Munich football club and same time you enjoy Bayern Munich basket... Cause bause from Munich that's your town or you just from somewhere loving bayern or Barcelona all normal
    And the you have those religion clubs Olympiakos, aris etc in Greece, galatasaray. Partisan etc.
    If you Aris you aris in anything... Football, basket... Waterball no matter.. if you like that sport you stick to your colour's.. And that's the ppl you see there..

    God...that woman iin the frst clip! Why is it that whenever someone says "I don't eat meat", they have the kind of piercing voice that you can hear over a crowd of thousands, and they're screeching it somewhere where it's not remotely relevant? Normal people are not talking about ther diet at a basketball game.

    In Europe fans create the atmosphere for the game.
