If you can't put 70k plus in the stands every Saturday and pack 16k plus in a basketball arena you don't have any business in SEC. FSU and Clemson both have the pedigree. Big 10 can have the rest. Both fit perfectly in our league.
FSU can pack 70 K now as long as they are able to recruit the South Florida area effectively something they would lose to Florida and Miami and schools that play them. If FSU had no Miami on they schedule the school would lose much of its appeal to South Florida athletes.

I can make arguments in favor of adding any combination of Miami, GT, Duke, UVa, Stanford, Cal, Pitt, or even BC.
There is a version of this where once it becomes clear that ND would joining the B1G & UNC+NC St, Clemson, & FSU join the SEC, that the B1G commissioner tells these 8 remaining teams that he has 5 (or 3) more spots at whatever low ball number the B1G presidents are willing to offer and that the first schools to accept are in the B1G and good luck to everyone else…

I don’t think you can just think about markets anymore. These TV deals are also looking at matchups. FSU/Miami add great matchups, which is one of the reasons the UVA thing doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

They could both very well fill up before Miami even becomes apart of the conversation
What is this April? It's so funny seeing SEC fans talking about FSU today vs. in December. I can smell the SEC fear of the problem FSU in the Big 10 would be.
It's silly to compare FSU and ND as independents. FSU ain't by a country mile ND. ESPN or anyone else isn't going to pay ND money to FSU to go independent.
FSU brings 70 to 80 million a year in TV revenue to the ACC ... Notre Dame may be worth more but their only getting paid I think less than 50M a year for their Football TV rights and FSU could get that same deal ... It's more about Notre Dame having a really bad deal than it is about FSU being worth as much as Notre Dame if you really understood college athletics you would know these things ... This is why FSU has sparked interest in the SEC and B1G they bring in more money than most of the programs in either conference and Notre Dame has ran itself into the ground under really bad leadership that refuses to evolve in the past 20 years
Think SEC adds 4 and B1G adds 2. B1G adds FSU and Miami for a solid Florida presence. SEC adds Clemson, UNC, UVA, and whichever ends up being UNC’s +1 in Duke/NCSt. If ESPN works with the teams, then I think SEC adds FSU, Clemson, UNC and then NCSt if they have to take both public NC teams, or UVA. Then B1G just holds until ND ready to join.
These people are just clueless. Charlotte is closer to Univ. of South Carolina and Clemson than it is to UNC. Both of those South Carolina Schools draw more viewers from Charlotte than UNC.

Let’s use our brains.
I don’t see independence being viable in the future Networks are not going to want to work out contracts for 300 teams as the power concentrates more and more into the SEC and Big Ten to a lesser extent the Big 12 all the TV contracts are going to be through those conferences which then will form an entity that will create rules between the conferences. The only other option if they go away from conferences which I just can’t see would be one NFL stile league that has revenue sharing and salary caps which I just can’t see happening because of all the other things tied to collage football
It’s not rocket science. FSU, Clemson, North Carolina, Miami, Notre Dame, on Big Ten’s list. But that could be off by a team or two depending upon what the SEC wants and invites.
Most FSU fans, especially FSU fans that grew up in Florida, want the SEC. There's a vocal minority on UA-cam that say they want the B1G and some that are in their feelings over ESPN, but get real. FSU is a perfect fit for the SEC and always has been.
Where does the notion that ND makes that much more because of their NBC contract ? They make more than ANY ACC team, but compared to the B1G & SEC, the ACC make far less than the other 2 conferences. ND's NBC money still pales in comparison to the upcoming B1G & SEC $.
This isn’t a charity type of thing these conferences and TV net worth are not adding teams just to be adding them because you used to be good many yrs ago ain’t gonna cut it !
Let me tell you a story of what happened to Florida State in the 80s. Florida State fans were sick and tired of losing to Miami and further complained that they had to play the Florida Gators making the schedule to tough. FSU decided that they were going to either drop Miami entirely or schedule them every now and then. FSU being a state funded school had to have the Florida Legislature approve-problem was that the Governor was a Miami grad and the Florida Legislature is predominately made up of South Florida representatives. Of course the South Florida Reps did not approve and further stated that if FSU goes ahead and drops UM they (The Legislature) would with hold state funds from the school. Result FSU dropped the matter entirely.
Sounds nice ... Until you realize Miami is a private school and none of what you just said makes any sense ... FSU isn't obligated to play Miami it's the same with UF vs Miami ... FSU and UF are required to play because their both public schools and UF originally didn't want to play FSU because they said they didn't think that game was worth playing at the time ... But the Miami games with FSU or UF aren't mandatory FSU just keeps playing them because their both in the ACC now and for a long time it was one of FSUs most profitable games
@@ddcs0s FSU plays Miami because they want to keep the South Florida pipeline to recruits open. Should FSU decide to drop Miami that would marginally Florida State in recruiting football players there. Outside of Miami its Florida who local players look to-FSU would be an after thought.
Also what motivation would they even have anyway? They have Clemson and FSU at bottom dollar right now, still pulling in the 7th and 22nd most eyeballs on TV. FSU-LSU was the most watched regular season game involving an SEC team (the other regular season match-ups above that game were 3 B1G games all involving Ohio State, and two Colorado games). This is 100% going to play out in courts, and ESPN will not be stepping up to void that contract.

Florida State used to be an Independent. There was a reason they joined a conference. Also, I understand the schools in the ACC are looking for an exit plan. True Notre Dame is making money hand over fist, but the reason is they are Notre Dame... period. The big networks fight for their season coverage, not because they're independent, but because of their brand. They have alums all over the world.
So personally if I'm the SEC I want FSU and Clemson for me it boils down to football has always and will always be the sport that pays the bills and in the ACC there are two programs that have a combined 5 football championships in the past 30ish years ... I think there's a misconception about NCAA basketball yes basketball is the second most profitable NCAA sport however it's not like the revenue gap is small football brings in so much more money than even basketball that if a program can't field at least a decent football program their not worth adding to you're conference and UNC doesn't have a great football program ... I do think UNC will find a home in the SEC or B1G but it will be after the smoke settles with FSU and Clemson leaving the ACC first ... I could see the B1G taking UNC and UVA if the SEC gets FSU and Clemson or I could see the SEC panic buying UNC and UVA after taking Clemson if the B1G gets FSU ... But UNC won't be a first choice
Carolina women basketball has won one 10th as many Conference Championships as Duke has , what are talking about Carolina has done nothing in football since 1981 !
Speaking of the refereeing in the SEC I can promise you the ACC refs are much worse and any ACC fan will agree and not just FSU fans. I think most FSU fans feel that the ACC refereeing has it out for FSU and they do all they can to try and dictate games so we'll lose so at the end of the day us FSU fans will take the so called bad refereeing in the SEC over the ACC all day long cuz I can promise you that FSU is already used to that and I can also promise you that SEC refs are not worse than ACC guaranteed. ACC refs are the absolute worse refs there is so going to the SEC or the BIG 10 for that matter would be a huge step up for FSU especially since we'll be getting paid a whole lot more money in either one of those conferences so we would gladly take that. Getting rid of ACC refs would truly be a dream come true for us FSU fans. As we say it in the ACC when it comes to the refereeing ACC stands for (A)nother (C)rappy (C)all and that's the absolute bottom line! This would be a change we would gladly take if it means we're out of the ACC no matter what conference we're in just as long as it's not the BIG 12 which is highly unlikely! #GoNoles

So you both take $60 million per year as an independent rather than $100 million in the B1G. And give up the security of being in one of the two leagues that count. Why would the big 2 make it easier for independents to get into the playoffs? FSU could fight ND for that slot. The SEC will also be close to that $100 million or more, so UF will still be making $40 million per year more than FSU. Is that what you want? All this harmonizing between Sankey & Petitti is the biggest pick up here. That could signal FSU & UVA being headed to the B1G and Clemson, UNC, NC ST. & VT going to the SEC. Miami, Louisville, Pitt & Georgia Tech are probably the Big 12 takes. The rest are probably up the river like Oregon State & Washington State. Unless all this really gets wild and the P2 both go over 20 members. Who Knows?
Agreed but I think if they are coordinating realignment options. Anything is on the table. Here would be an out of the box that should be considered. BIG would take Mizzou from SEC and Kansas from B12….locking down KC and Stl markets. In return the BIG gets out of the way and FSU, Clemson, UNC and UVA all go to SEC.. both conferences get what they want and have equal amount of schools
They're going over 20. 24 is the magic number to get everybody what they want.
No chance. Missouri wanted the BIG before and BIG didn’t want them.
I think for either conference , outside notre Dame, Florida state and UNC are top
Two choices
If you can't put 70k plus in the stands every Saturday and pack 16k plus in a basketball arena you don't have any business in SEC. FSU and Clemson both have the pedigree. Big 10 can have the rest. Both fit perfectly in our league.
FSU can pack 70 K now as long as they are able to recruit the South Florida area effectively something they would lose to Florida and Miami and schools that play them. If FSU had no Miami on they schedule the school would lose much of its appeal to South Florida athletes.
Noles should stay away from that filthy network and its backwoods trailer park conference. The damage ESPN has done to college football is immeasurable. B1G all the way - more prestige, affluence and a much more intriguing slate of away games!
No offense, but with no AAU status, FSU will NOT be invited into the Big Ten.
Thankfully, the admin at FSU are not the same type of socioeconomic bigot you seem to be.
Who gives a shit about AAU anymore , are too blind to see these are businesses not colleges anymore if your in the big 2 . The collegiate stuff is secondary

@@jeffreystrickland7067 Dud of a take, my friend. AAU membership is an irrelevant metric when it comes to the goldmine that college football is turning into. Besides, FSU ranks in the upper half of B1G schools academically and its viewership numbers dwarf all but OSU and Michigan (and possibly USC). Pure malfeasance for the conference to make it a precondition going forward.
Best Guess:
SEC - Expands to 20 - FSU/Clem/UNC/UV
B1G - Expands to 20 - Giving ND two options...Join now with Stanford -or- Miami is taking your seat
B12 - Expansd to 20 or 24 - Based on media partner's Pro-rata approvals
ACC - Rebuilds with WSU, OSU, Army, Navy, AF, CSU Tulane, SDSU, USF, Uconn
As a B1G fan, I can tell you that FWIW, IMHO after landing ND, I almost don’t even care which teams are added to the conference if we don’t get UNC as well because there are so many good options that add value but likely won’t get full share for the balance of the existing contract.
As a fellow B1G alum and fan, it's really the Irish and every other team is for entertainment purposes.
@@williamgarry2635 seen several versions of Utah and Arizona St eventually going to the B1G. Fortunately all these versions aren’t worth squat. I can see ND and FSU being the two that the B1G would want to cap it at 20. We’ll see how it plays out.

I don’t think you can just think about markets anymore. These TV deals are also looking at matchups. FSU/Miami add great matchups, which is one of the reasons the UVA thing doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

A brand like FSU or Clemson football will be watched on a national level it doesn't matter how big their TV markets are because those teams can create primetime games any given week in any part of the country ... They referenced that fact that Tony Petiti and Greg Sankey have had at least 5 known meetings in the past 3 months. Chances are there are more than the 5 known meetings. Most are looking at this as possible deals in the works between the two. The reality of the matter is that we just don’t know.
SEC can’t block Miami but Inthink the SEC/BIG have a number cap in mind. Miami won’t be in the SEC and BIG probably has more important targets
It's not about being blocked it's about what programs add value to you're TV brand ... FSU is joining the B1G ... Does the SEC need another FL team does the B1G need two ... No so why would either add Miami also there will come a point where the B1G and SEC decide their done adding programs that number will likely be between 18 and 20 ...

FSU and UNC are targets 1A and 1B, meaning either one could be the true top target. Clemson is solidly in 3rd. 4th is probably UVA or VT.
What ACC school had a team in both the men’s and women’s Final Four and just took the series from Clemson⚾️??

Yeah, and Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota. Thrilling.

Since the espn has contracts with both SEC andACC, ESPN WILL WANT THEIR PICK OF THE ACC.
ESPN will never void the contract in 2026. They put a lot of money into creating the ACC Network.

The SEC will also be close to that $100 million or more, so UF will still be making $40 million per year more than FSU. Is that what you want?
In fact, why would the big 2 make it easy for another major independent to even exist? What if the B1G and SEC schools do not have room for FSU on their schedules? Would the leftover ACC schools welcome them? FSU might have a more than tough time setting schedules with anyone. With watered down schedules, how much is an independent FSU worth to a network?
Is Miami as a place really that important to either the SEC or B1G? Honestly, I think that your guest really is off the wall on many issues.
Pick em!
FSU + 7 ACC schools
Who does your new conference chase?
ALL THE TEAMS IN THE EASTERN AAC THE OTHER TEAMS IN THE MWC
All aboard the BIG 10 train. No reason to give any more revenue to ESPN who has clearly spent a decade or more of their time and efforts trying to make us a second class team. Most of us will never forgive or forget the only unbeaten team left out of the playoffs. We are better than that and deserve a conference that is going to treat us right. Big 10 here we come. Soooo long ESPN.
Fear the Spear!!!
Oh and LSU has been treated like the kid in the back seat as well by ESPN while propping up Alabama and Georgia. I would not be happy if I was an LSU fan.
Saw the LSU stuff behind him so you automatically know he’s not the brightest, especially if he went there. UNC? Dude lives in his own world. No SEC expert has even mentioned or thinks UNC in the SEC. Dudes a clown.
FSU is going to the B1G. The SEC will get Clemson, 100%. Where FSU will really make money is in the B1G. Why? At minimum, FSU would get $250 million in RESEARCH as a member of the BTAA. The B1G gets more research money than the SEC, ACC & IVY leagues combined.
Yeah I know the big wants Florida state. I’ve heard from sources at multiple schools in the BIG. I have heard 0 talk about Clemson. Everyone on planet knows ND has always been their prize. I know there was discussion in past about UNC but they wanted to bring Duke and BIg said no
@@mikemiller4726 The B1G will end up with FSU & MIAMI in my opinion. I believe this is 100% spot on from those I hear from. I also believe that the B1G will demand that Miami build an on campus football stadium, say 35,000 to 45,000 seats. The old Orange Bowl was 65,000. This size stadium would be ideal for Miami. They would have sell outs all of the time. That would bring a better look to the Canes when hosting visitors and on TV. There is a reason why Northwestern is dropping to 35,000 seats. Wouldn't be a bad idea for the Canes in the B1G either. BUT before anyone says no, Miami is a heck of a research university in it's own right bar none.
Death Valley is in Clemson.
how about the school that had both mens and womens bball teams in the final 4 and is one of only five football teams in the Power 5 that has won eight or more games in each of the past four seasons? forgot about them huh?
You know unc isn’t in charlotte right - at least not the campus you are talking about
Uva Virginia tech has Washington DC market the big them
Uva and Virginia tech has the Washington DC TV market the big ten wants them
I’d take UNC and Duke
Yep independent is the call for 3 years pick your schedule
They won’t limit it to just two
Maybe both north Carolina schools both UNC and North Carolina State
