I agree that CFB is changing into something I don't like but to pin it all on ESPN? I've heard lots of accusations but absolutely no evidence except conspiracy's that are very Rush Limbaugh like. It's like putting a bunch of people up on the wall and drawing lines between them, connecting them all together then create a conspiracy as you walk us down each string. Yes. You walk the company line if you work for ESPN but guess what? When you work in corporate America, you will walk that line no matter who you work for. The higher the level you're responsible for (and getting paid top dollar) the tighter you walk that line. In other words, saying a broadcaster on an entertainment show has to say what the company tells him, is a qualified ... Duh. What concerns me is while blaming a single entity, we let the other power players hide in the shadows. While I'm sure that ESPN cares more about their bottom line than the product itself ... any good business does just that ... I question whether there is a Machiavellian conspiracy to ruin CFB. I think CFB is changing because of an imperfect storm based on CFB turning into a product first and sport second. This has been going on for a while now and with the players being paid to play, it's exploded and for the first time, viewers are being exposed to the dark underbelly of CFB. Money is flying and there are many party's are involved ... not just ESPN and even then, I question whether ESPN has the power to control the sport at such a high level independent of the other power players. Does ESPN have a say, however sideways, about the future and format of CFB? I would think so. They may not control it but they can throw enough money at it to have a say. Are they the Prime authors of the recent changes in CFB? I doubt it. As for the SEC, look at the recruiting rankings from 2023, 2024 and even 2025 though this year isn't set in stone yet. Check out the top 15 team rankings. In each year, 8 SEC teams get more of the best players in the country than the other conferences combined. This means half of the SEC teams are capable of reaching the top of the sport in any given year. They aren't concentrated to one or two teams. These make great games to watch but it also makes a hard gauntlet you have to run through. Is it any wonder the SEC gets top billing when they have a greater concentration of the best players overall than the other conferences combined? This doesn't guarantee a win every year but it does mean the SEC will be competitive. They will also be the focus of the talking heads to the exclusion of other teams. Is that fair? Probably not, but this is America and in America, you go where the money is. Yes, there is an SEC bias but it's not with the media. They just reap the benefits. It's with the players. Rant off:

ESPN isn’t the only one. NCAA and Congress helped. No cap on NIL,no restrictions on transfers and now revenue sharing. It’s greed and more greed and wokeness. It’s players getting scholarships and NIL money and running the sport. The tail wagging the dog. You can’t have a team that stays together because there is no loyalty to school or team. It’s just the all mighty dollar.

Them white boys are scarred to death of what happened. Every black kid in 2-3 will be fighting to come to Colorado. No to mention Steven A and Shannon giving them unlimited coverage

I’m really confused here. So you guys are saying college football is broken because of SEC bias? The SEC has three teams in. The Big Ten has four. From the looks of it you are an Arizona State fan who is also in. Where is this bias? Kirk and others on ESPN/other sports media outlets have a right to their opinions. Just like the rest of us. I think that maybe it is the fact that theirs doesn’t attack the programs that most fanbases resent due to their successes. College football is broken because humans are biased,illogical,irrational,immature,and corrupt. To fix the playoff situation we will have to remove human beings from the decision process. Until then we will continue down this rabbit hole that everyone thought was going to make things “fair” . People do not want fair because it wouldn’t support their biased narratives. No matter what is done people will not be satisfied. From 4 to 12 that will satisfy people. Seems to be working. We have 12 and they include all the teams that everyone wanted in so badly yet people are still complaining about conspiracy theory biases for the SEC. And SEC doesn’t have the most teams in it. Yep, we saw what happened last year when Florida State got ripped out of a playoff spot - the SEC and ESPN is a billion dollar partnership. Herbie, Heather Dinich, Stephen A. and the biggest jerk of all, Finebaum are ESPN puppets. This is no secret, it's actually been like that for several years now.

They more ESPN attempts to cut down college football they more CFB will lose what made it appealing. ESPN wants CFB cut down because they can't afford all of CFB and only want the most profitable brands. It's the evil extreme of capitalism (I did not say capitalism is evil, but the extreme in an evil practice).

When a program has being losing for over 15 years or longer its going to take sometime to build a program it takes at least five years hell but its prime so the hate is real hell

It will be interesting to see how they pull off getting Notre Dame into their conference plans. If and when they pull this off. Do they realize they could have a 32 team playoff. With the 10 conferences they have. They could have a guaranteed 2 teams from each conference and 12 at large bids. The big 10 and sec could potentially get 8 teams each in the playoffs. Granted probably be more like 6 each but still way more then anyone else. If something like that happened what great story lines you would have. TV ratings would be huge with people wanting to see a David beat a Goliath.

As a Big Ten guy I want the Big Ten to stand up to the SEC not join them I don’t see the Big Ten schools as likely to cut loose the lower tier schools as willingly as the SEC schools because in most of these teams have been infused with each other for a very long time and the Big Ten is such a big part of there identity that said look at the pac and we all know what happened there. As for the casual fan driving ratings I kind of agree with that the Big Ten schools have huge alumni and that is what drives there ratings for the most part that and the fact all the other schools fans at least in the Big Ten watch because they are routing on the big boys in the conference
