Yes Sir,,,you most certainly are!!! I just happen to check and Woo and behold,,,there you are Brother...Another fine Sunday early morning with your fine show and you as usual...Love from SW OHIO,,,Germantown OHIO,,,Brother Neil
I totally get what you’re trying to say. I’m 66 years old that shoot guns, cut hay, brush hog fields, work on tractors and everything us old timers do that grew up in the country. We’re different than the woke crowd. That’s a good thing. Never thought I’d see my wonderful USA turn to crap so fast like it has in the last 4 years. Love your videos Hickok !!!!!!
I’m 36 and can’t believe the younger generation. My friends are all like minded also and are disgusted with the way this country is going. We work our tails off and fix all our own stuff and live outdoors. It’s just crazy to us.
Worked at Jack Daniel’s distillery a few times a few years ago. Fire protection inspections ! Beautiful country there , very thankful to have lived in Tennessee the last 55 years love it here and shooting in my backyard I wouldn’t know how to act living somewhere that I couldn’t shoot when I wanted too! Very thankful to live in this beautiful state ! Thank you for another great video
Oh boy! A pre 64 model 70 in 30-06. That's always been one of my dream guns. I've owned a few pre 64 94's. I sold the last one I had a couple of years ago to a good friend. His boy was going to be going on his first deer hunt, so I let go of my 94. It pained me a little bit, but we're only caretakers of the old classics for a little while. I still get pleasure from it as I got a picture of my friend's son proudly holding my old 94 in the woods on his first deer hunt. That's where it belongs, not just sitting in a safe.
"It's good to be on the right side of the grass." Haven't heard that one in a while. Great reminder!! Great morning watching you shoot a classic. Just imagine how many people may have been fed by that beauty. Glas you were able to reconnect with colleagues and former students. Know that you made an impact. Maybe not with every student, but with the majority of them. A good life, sir!
I'm 78 yr old. My English teacher was an very old woman whose father fought in the Civil War. Once in a while she would tell stories her father told her. She should have been teaching history.
My first rifle was a model 70 featherweight in 243. I was still in High school 1960. It was used and killed many deer in the San Diego back country. When I moved to Alaska in 1970 I bought a pre 64 model 70 in 300 H&H. That took several moose and caribou. Wish I still had both of them.
As always. 45 explains it correctly. Little early. My kids are asleep.I can watch in peace. Settle, You parents no what I'm talkin about. Enjoy your weekend.
Mr Hickok I wanted to tell you since I started watching your show I have truly enjoyed it. I also wanted to comment on Sunday Shoot Around # 54. The statements you spoke about owning and voting ring so true with me. I am a Libertarian and I believe that freedom means just that. No politician should have the right to take away any of our rights. You really spoke the truth. Thanks for everything you do for our shooting sport and our rights in general. I hope that you’re still ringing the gong at 105. lol
reminds me of my grandmother's left handed bolt sporterized WW1 Springfield. thanks for sharing a very reliable rifle that has harvested food for millions.
I got two that look like that. Got JC Higgins model 50 in 270, and model 51 in 30-06. Had them for 50 years. Great rifles. That model 70 is a great rifle too !
Started my morning off at 3a.m with the 450 bushmaster then my mossin 7.62-54r ... good morning,we love your stuff, keep on keeping on till the good lord see it different..god bless..
I was one of the nerds who loved and greatly benefited from sentence diagramming. The way it breaks down and displays the parts of speech always made grammar much easier to comprehend for me. I went to a private high school that had a wonderful English teacher who rode me so hard that I was able to test through English 101 & 102 at the University of Louisville.
I was in my early 30’s when I finally went to college to become a minister. I loved English classes and composition writing. I love writing my manuscripts when writing my sermons. My professor was a wife to a Methodist pastor. She really took me under her wing and gave me some of her husband’s sermon manuscripts to study. She was a precious teacher and person. Thank you for your time as a teacher that probably cared about your students like my writing professor.
I had such a good time meeting with you at the NRA convention! It was a great time, and you were every bit as cool and friendly and sensible as you are in your videos. Don’t meet your heroes, unless your hero is Hickok45! :) in that case you certainly won’t be disappointed!
I find I always take something away from your talks each week. Yes there are quite often people in our lives that change the course of our lives with their advice, when you were talking about becoming a teacher. Thanks for your time and effort. I enjoy the talks just as much as the shooting! Take care
Ian from Boston here again Hickok. Nothing like driving home from a 24hr fire dept shift with a 45 min commute home & a Sunday shootaround video to watch! Thanks again for another great video Sir!
I own 2 pre 64 model 70s. 30-06 and 270. So I knew what you were holding in the thumbnail. The 30-06 was bought for me before I was born. The 270 I bought 4 years ago.
My Post 64 is spring feed of course so the feel is less precise than the Mauser action. On the plus side it is an easy solid bolt design a breeze to clean and maintain. Good trigger and simple wood make it fun to cart around and shoot. I handload so most of my stuff is lightweight and low pressure. Thanks for the show you make me want to burn ammo every time I watch a vid. CZ makes good Mauser Action I have one all solid steel no alloy stuff.
Patton had a low score .. I think it was in his Olympic decathlon ... in which , he said, he drilled the same hole, but was counted as a miss. His decathlon pick was due to not being the best at anything, but real good at everything. "The Patton Papers" are a good read.
Did the 710 loop in Dallas thrice, once by accident. Who developed the longest one-way traffic circle for a world record, should be sentenced to roll a large boulder for eternity. I was fortunate to fire several rounds through a pre '64 .270. Shooting across an arroyo at quart bottles, fun. Always learning never boring, thank you Hickok45.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hello Hickok. I did some trading this week and got my hands on an S&W model 13-2 nickel plate 4" inch 357 magnum revolver in 95% condition. I watched both of your videos on it again at least 2 times. Lol. I like the older stuff. The quality is just different. I also got an Aero Precision 10.5" AR pistol that's brand new. It's not a bad little AR. I traded my Saiga in 5.56 for both of them. I never found anyone to convert it. I just couldn't trust anyone to know what they're doing. It was just too Non-AK for me. Lol. Life is good. Thanks for the great show today. I just thought I'd share my adventures this week. 😂😅😊
With regards to "stripper clips", that was how we loaded our M 14's in boot camp back in '68. That is STILL my all time favorite rifle. Expert @ 500 yds open sights.
( future general) Patton shooting in the Olympics was given a miss for a one hole 2 shots target kerfuffle. He didn’t get the gold. In the book ‘the accurate rifle’ a device was described for bench rest shooting. It was an electric powered reel of paper behind the target so the holes were strung out on the paper and hits could be counted.
I had the best English teacher he followed our class when we Graduated from School he Retired and would love to see him again he was the best Bruce Ambrose
Another Grand “Sunday S-a-R” w/ the Grand Marshall hick45. Look forward to these weekly posts & it’s interesting content 👍 todays topics & firearms choices were TOP NOTCH🤩 all this from SE-WI 😳 stay safe & well…
The pre64 mod 70’s in pristine condition are maintaining their price. Mine I inherited, a 30-06 was well used but in good condition could only get a 790.00 bid. Never met my minimum so since I couldn’t sell it, I sent it to the gun smith had it rebarreled with a lightweight hart in 25-06 and the old wood stock was replaced with a Macmillan. He almost cried but said it would work great for the project since it isn’t collector grade. Shoots excellent. And was cheaper than buying a new one.
i have a colt .45 new service made in 1900. family heirloom. hardly used. still has a beautiful blued finish. when i got it it was missing the nut on the ejector rod. i found a re pop on the internet and made the gun whole again. what a beautiful hog leg.

Missed you at the NRA show this year In Dallas. I beat you to the Ballistol Booth. Hope to run into you next year in Atlanta. In the air right now on the way back to Michigan. Have a Wonderful Sunday.
The Winchester Mod 70 pre war and pre 64 were based on the Mouser action with what is known as Controlled Feed, meaning as the bolt stripped the round from the clip the rim slid under the claw and was captured by the bolt the whole way into the chamber and is known as a dangerous game rifle. Where as a Remington 700 round just glides along in front of the bolt and can fall out if the rifle is turned sideways
They used to teach us some about WWII (and what lead up to it) when I was in school. And, in those days, there were lots of old WWII movies to go along with the cowboy movies. Some still appear on TCM occasionally. No video games or smart phones then. But there was TV to "babysit". When did they quit teaching history in school? Surely it seems like they must have quit shortly after I graduated high school.
I'm making this one live a little early this morning.
I see that I'm still working it's 200 clock here. Thanks for your videos love watching them
I'm up all night and into the wee hours. Early is good. Hope you come back to Uncle Lee's in KY this year.
Yes Sir,,,you most certainly are!!! I just happen to check and Woo and behold,,,there you are Brother...Another fine Sunday early morning with your fine show and you as usual...Love from SW OHIO,,,Germantown OHIO,,,Brother Neil

A pre-64, pre-War M70! A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Amen to being able to shoot when you want
Really enjoyed this show, agree with everything you said, from the outdoors to school to the graveyard, like being with an old friend. Happy Sunday. 😇
Oh boy! A pre 64 model 70 in 30-06. That's always been one of my dream guns. I've owned a few pre 64 94's. I sold the last one I had a couple of years ago to a good friend. Nice comment. That boy I'm sure had a grin on his face. That was nice of you.

I believe there’s more history talked about here on this channel than most schools today. Take a look at your colleges. It speaks volumes.

Dad loved his model 70, 30-06. It was his deer gun. As the years go by, I realize more and more, why.
The deer gun becomes a dear gun. Awesome.
Glad i got to see you in Dallas! Made my whole day thanks for being kind and for the picture! Dream come true
Thanks for coming by!!!

Dan Jackiels, my favorite 😅
Appreciate you Mr. Hickok and John, keep up the awesome stuff!!!
Good morning Hickok45 and gang.
Ah yes, 30-06 and my favorite the Colt SAA.
Cheers folks

About REI, I call those folks Subarus. I live in NC and Asheville is their capitol.
Subarus. Love it. Now I have a new term. Thanks.
So is Austin, TX. Boulder, CO., too.
I tell my kids that all subaru drivers are communists. It's a family joke because I have a cousin that's super left leaning and he drives a subaru.
@jerryw6699 if there's a line of traffic, guaranteed its a Subaru in front holding everyone up.

Love ya hickok been watching you for 10 years your one of my most favorite you tubers

Dorothy Lea maybe Lee was a great English teacher at BGA when I and you were there- and she was very fascinating with her stories of her travels

Nice to see the pre-64 Winchester at play again.
Love the Sunday Shoot Arounds.
Mr. Hitchcock you are right about the woke culture so just keep on living the good life and slinging the lead !!!
Love that model 70 ! Great show sir. Life is good!

Aloha @jluther, we should meet some day at the Manuka range talk story and through some lead down range 😀
i have a colt .45 new service made in 1900. family heirloom. hardly used. still has a beautiful blued finish. when i got it it was missing
the nut on the ejector rod. i found a re pop on the internet and made the gun whole again. what a beautiful hog leg.
Nice find. What a keeper.
You can be a great influence in reforming our NRA, Hickok45! Please do the research and help save our NRA! We need you!
I believe that model 70 is the same type rifle (in 30'06) used by Gunny Carlos Hathcock (scoped, of course)!
Love it! One of the most beautiful rifles ever made.
Smoothest bolt gun I have ever seen
INSTANT LIKE. I have 6 30-06 Remington 742 Semiautomatics. They run just fine.
Been following for years......thank you
Another Great Video Hickok 💯 Thank you for sharing 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Good morning this early sunday I hope everyone will have a great day when you get up lol. It's 3:20 am here in fla. Stay safe n God bless. Frank from Plymouth fla.
I stayed a while in Sorrento FL. About 20 min from you I think.
Did they ever get FL-46 finished? I was there when they were doing the construction. And they also were apparently doing something to FL-429 (toll highway)
Sounded like a
P-51 that flew over, thanks Hickok!
I was thinking more like a C47, had that dual radial engine sound signature.
@@hookeaires6637 there was one towards the front and another near the end, both sounded ww2 , must be an air show or fly In near by
The second one did. I wonder if there was an airshow in the area?
Chinese balloon?
@@nsv6536 naw, Joe shot those down himself.
The new model 70 maple is one of the nicest guns I’ve ever seen. The old ones are just cool though. Also. Those other people are generally fly fisherman and hikers. They tend to smell like pot and B.O.
Morning. Have a wonderful Sunday!
I don't care what people say, you get out of the city you feel like shooting a gun it's just part of life.
Hickok, you could easily get elected to the NRA board of Directors. Assuming you could get your name on the ballot. That would be awesome.
Lynchburg Tennessee. Jack Daniels country. A dry county though. Nothing like a chilled rock glass 2 cubes and Tennessee finest beverage
Thank you for what you do sir.
Nice rifle and nice Blue Grass Country music ❤greetings from The Netherlands
I have been wanting one of those model 70s for a long time
One of my favorite teachers was Mr. Davis in 5th and 6th grade who made us diagram sentences. Best thing along with taking a foreign language to learn grammar. It’s a shame they don’t teach Latin anymore.
I totally get the REI thing. Some of our other outdoor stores are steering that direction.
I'm watching at 4:40 am Sunday morning in Indiana
You can't beat the bolt action rifle!
We love the way you always pick up the spare with those pins! Hahahaha jimandnena
Wood hippies……, Red River Gorge (KY) is full of them!
Hickok 45--REI served a small group of mountaineers who ordered such things as ice axes and boots back in the 50 and early 60's. All sorts of folks were into that here in the PNW. Later the Business MBA's took over and started selling just about everything. I would guess all demographics buy there and are members for the 10% discount. So a butt-load of folks buy and take advantage through them but it has changed, yes everything has, in the sell sell sell.
It used to be about customer satisfaction and retention.. now they dont care. Very unfortunate.
Missed you at the NRA show this year In Dallas. I beat you to the Ballistol Booth. Hope to run into you next year in Atlanta. In the air right now on the way back to Michigan. Have a Wonderful Sunday.

Yep, that way you can operate it just fine hanging upside-down in a tree! The round will not fall out of the rifle. :-)
Funny!!!😂😂😂
Sunday chill
Have a great Sunday everyone! "Life is good"
Pre-war Model 70 in 30-06. I guessed correctly except for the year. That's as much a classic as you are, yourself!
To me it means they are hand put together with the best materials.
The one with the Mac computer 🖥️💻 was in a hickok and ☀️ video
They used to teach us some about WWII (and what lead up to it) when I was in school. And, in those days, there were lots of old WWII movies to go along with the cowboy movies. Some get their outdoor apparel and gear at Tractor Supply and some from REI. The difference is REI is for a trip, the latter is for a lifestyle.
