Planted a Fire Barrel seed 15 years ago. It’s still in a 6” pot! The spines are beautiful, but deadly! I’m hoping it will hit its stride soon and bulk up. I’m sure they grow much faster in ground. Lovely work you’ve done. 😺✌️
Oh thanks so much Christian! We have a few small fire barrels in pots and they are sooooooo slow-growing! We'll be glad to put one in the ground! Hoping you get a growth spurt with your fire barrel 🤞🏽
Plastic sheeting can be used to block tree roots from invading a garden. Is good barrier preventing roots from spreading unwanted areas. Which is great for gardening. I like having less grass in the garden and more concrete. Since i have allergies aswell and cutting grass is such a hassle too.
Your raised beds are looking so beautiful. Love your arrangements especially the Portulaca ground cover. Blue glow is gorgeous. Love watching your garden develop. :)
Hi Shy-fun video! I loved seeing your new succulents and cacti. Your garden bed is coming along beautifully. I never heard of the boiling water trick for weeds. We have one small gard3n bed and years ago I made the mistake of planting mint and pulling it out forever. Definitely mint needs to be in a pot!!!
Thanks Molly! Someone mentioned boiling water in the comments, and then I came across it again when looking up how to get rid of onion weed. They are so hard to pull out by the roots- I'll see how it goes! 🤞🏽
All the beds look great! 25:05 Instead of the smaller container gardens you used to make and keep on your balcony, you now have giant containers. Those Agave ‘Blue Glow’ are gorgeous. Nice plant haul, too.
Yep, I think I'll be continuing to grow these aeoniums in pots. Some can withstand the Aus summer, but definitely not mardigras, medusa or pink witch, in my experience!
I knew the portulaca would perform super well in ground. They propagate easily from cuttings too. They will reseed too, but probably won't come back true to the parent. Are mangave as popular in Australia as they are here in the States? It seems like everyday there is a new type of mangave hitting the market.
I'm surprised the portulaca don't have mealy yet (knock on wood). They were mealy magnets on my balcony, so they must be super happy campers where they are. Mangaves are around, but I only tend to see the super common ones- mission to mars, lavender lady etc. I have to say I don't love them as much as agaves. I only have one! Toothfairy :)
Everything is settling so beautifully!! Love the plant names on the screen 💚🌵
Thanks so much Lynzee! I’ll try to keep doing that :) 💕

Your cacti gardens are beyond beautiful! I wish I could plant in ground, but in NJ (USA) no can do, but I love seeing your gorgeous garden beds.
Thank you so much Linda! Living in an apartment last year I was only gardening out of containers. Very lucky to be planting in garden beds now!

Good tip. I will have to look into options for plastic sheeting. Thank you!

Thank you so much Gayatri 🙂 Portulacas are my favourite and I'm glad they're working out in this garden. Thanks so much for watching!

Thank you so much! 🙂

Nice plant haul, too.
Thanks so much Jane! Yes, I'm loving that I have these much larger beds to play with. Learning so much!
So pretty 😍🌵
Thank you so much! ☺️
❤ watching your vids! ~Denise here from Las Vegas
Aw thank you so much Denise! 💕
I too love Aoeniums, but some survived qld summer, but not all! My pink witch didn’t! Yes pots are the best idea as you can protect them in summer!

oh cool, i recently received a ferocactus in the mail as well! mine is so pink, i love it! your pilosus has such a cute shape!
Ooh a pink ferocactus! Do you know the type?
@@the.morning.chorus i think it might be a pringlei, but i'm not 100%
So jealous of your beautiful collection 🌵 what are the birds we often hear in the background??
Thanks so much Denise! Those birds are Australian Ravens. Their call is a weird drawn-out gurgling sound.
The birds crack me up. Australia has some wild as bird sounds.
Hi Shy love to watch you. This video was too short 😢
Aww thank you so much Marjorie 💕 I'd love to do more long-form content in the future if time allows :)
Nooooo....let the mint stay!!! It repels mosquitoes!!!
We've put some in a pot, but it's incredibly invasive so I'd prefer not to have it in the garden beds.
