Obviously you must be talking modern times when you refer to a boys axe as the most popular in the world. I swung a Council Tool axe for more fire seasons than I remember and never carried one of the boy axes. I have them know as my life doesn't depend on a solid well built axe that was needed in wildland fire fighting. Now it's a short light axe for cutting an armload of firewood.

Chipped where and how bad? By the head you can wrap in paint can metal or leather to slow the wear
