Thank you very much. If you saw pointwork like that seen in the first 20 seconds on a model railway, you just wouldn't believe it would work. Shame about the Hawk.
@@bennickss so you’re saying that she looked worse in a livery that she was literally built to wear then one that she just happened to wear because of nationalisation? I say on the contrary however that is your own personal opinion..
Thanks for filming and posting this. Also saw The Southerner's shots of it leaving Swanage (and volunteered at Swanage while it was there). But talking of birds, what's the strange chirrupping sound as it's reversing from 3:40 on? This was also evident at Poole in the other video (in forward motion). Anyway, good that FS got back to Bury OK.
I remarked on that sound when I saw her in Leeds and got this reply David Anderson 1 year ago There’s nothing odd about its exhaust sound; it’s how it should be. The exhaust sound is due it’s double Kylchap chimney (most A3s were fitted with them late in the careers) which improves performance and economy. This also causes a soft exhaust sound. Another side effect of the Kylchap chimney was the drifting of smoke; the remedy for which was the fitting of smoke deflectors.
Paint faded, you didn't live near Frodingham in the 60's, the entire allocation and visitors were filthy black. A WD turned up about 1962 clean ex works and there were one or two steam Doncaster overhauls on running in turns from Doncaster to Cleethorpes passing by. Even at Doncaster on the main line the once proud Pacifics were in a sorry state including Kings Cross locos which were well kept until then. A lot of diesels unless new weren't much better. Love to see UK railways today, lots of clean stock and well maintained infrastructure. Trouble is for many people it's hard to afford the fares and also tolerate some of the passenger behaviour nowadays. Good video. Thanks.
That would have been 61306 Mayflower returning back to Crewe HS from SVR. 60103 Scotsman did also come via Birmingham-Wolves-Stafford but later on in the afternoon 👍

Hi my name is Phil I did 50 years on the footplate from 1961 to 2011 and I fired this locomotive in 1972 from Manchester to Derby Regard Phil.
Saw the same loco at Leeds Central buffers, circa 1960,pre-blinkers, with a sparrow impaled on the front end. Coincidence!

You've never got a roll of kitchen foil when you need one!
Very well filmed video - thanks for posting it, I couldn't be there.

Super coverage, enjoyed it thanks 👍
Old girl deserves her Apple Green back. Although, it'd be interesting to see her in BR Blue for a change.
She was in BR Blue for a time during her ownership under BR didn’t last long though.. Hornby have done a model of it
Looks bloody awful in apple green, definitely suits Brunswick green better

are there no water columns at CREWE to service these great LOCOS !

seems like a number of chaps taking her off for a ride while no one is looking for olde time sake
5:15 Err bit of a mess..
6:16 the bird
Better view at 6:45
i dont know if its just me but the paint looks a bit faided to me
It is looking tired in a few places.. They’ll likely be some work completed on it over the winter.
@@trainsplanes lets hope its going to be apple green
