If we subtract God from our epistemology, the system of science looks like the inverse of a prophetic system. Science is based on testing predictions for truth value. Instead of starting with the assumption of truth value, and then making a prediction, science starts with the prediction and then tests the truth value. This is a more tried and true way of getting to truth.
Was the gift that was restored by God with Joseph to received Word of the Lord oracles taken from the earth after the early Mormons and the famine for the word resumed? Or was the restored church remiss and cast out the foreordained prophet with this gift for our day? The Second Book of Commandments is the best evidence that the gift has remained on earth.
