I was at the world premiere of this film as part of a press junket. I had a chance to meet and speak with the cast. Reeves is shy. Weisz was unbelievably beautiful in person. This was back when I was interesting.
I’m sure you’re still interesting 😉 crazy that Keanu is shy, you’d think he was super confident being an actor
@@kabirconsiders Thanks for the affirmation. 😀
That’s super cool that you got to meet them. The closest I ever got to meeting Keanu was that I went to the baskin robbins in Alameda (where they took the picture of him eating ice cream) a day or so before he did.
I’ve noticed a lot of the best actors are shy or reserved in some way. I find that really interesting.
@@kabirconsiders You can still be confident when you are shy. But yea, a lot of us have the image that actors are sociable. Of course not all of them are.
That's awesome. Normally I don't really care about that kinda thing but this is one of my favorite movies so I'm a little jealous. Lol I used to be interesting also. Interesting just takes to much work and energy nowadays.
This movie is criminally underrated and deserved a sequel. Peter Stormare as Lucifer is just perfection.
Its coming the sequel
I think it didn't need a sequel its a redemption story nowadays he will end up as bad as at the beginning
They actually announced a sequel about a month ago. Keanu has signed on to return.
there's already a trailer
GTFO I'M SO HYPED TO HEAR THIS
Peter Stormare has signed on too
@@VanessaMallia We need more Lou
@@archangelgabriel5316there’s no trailer stop the cap
I think this is one of Keanus best movies. Casting was excellent.
Balthazar was Gavin Rossdale of Bush and Gwen Stefani's ex.
17 years later, a sequel was *JUST* greenlit starring Keanu, the director/producer are returning as well, so, you've been waiting 5 seconds for a sequel, we've been waiting 17 YEARS! Loved the reaction! :D
Can't wait. Have to watch the sequel a couple of dozen times just to catch up.
Check out the post credit scene and post your reaction…..it’s really short but very cool! The sequel has been on and off for years now!
This
Peter Stormare is one of my favorite castings for Lucifer. He's up there with Viggo, DeNiro, and Tim Curry
He was only on screen for like 10 mins but he stole the show
I don't remember DeNiro here. Do you mean Al Pacino in the Devil's Advocate? By the way, another great Keanu movie, that one.
@@mage1439 he means DeNiro on AngelHeart, you know...Mickey Rourke movie where DeNiro introduces himself as Louis Cypher....
@@mage1439 Robert De Niro was in a movie called Angel Heart with Mickey Rourke and Lisa bonet. He played a character called Louis Cypher. You should watch it just for his performance alone.
Those are great devil portrayals. Out of that bunch Viggo Mortensen is my favorite. His Satan who was a pristine example of wielding his craft and was an extremely believable portrayal of Lucifer.
We need you to see the post credit scene too 🤩
This was one of my favorite Keanu Reeves movies -- he was perfect for the role. It's so underrated. Glad you liked it.
If he comes back for a sequel for DCEU with Henry Cavil, Ben Affleck and others, it will be epic and just with the thought itself I am losing my shit.
I love this movie, I'm so glad they are finally making a part two!! I hope you like this one!!
I genuinely loved it, can’t wait for part 2
Oh thats right! I forgot they were.
@@kabirconsiders YOU MISSED THE END CREDIT SCENE! IT IN THE GRAVEYARD.
@@kabirconsiders I've been waiting a long time, many fans of this movie have requested a part two and I'm so happy we are getting one, great reaction Kabir!!
I haven't heard about a pt. 2. Cool.
The name of the comic is actually titled Hellblazer. Constantine is the main character. You also missed the end credit scene that shows what happened to Chas! A lot of people don't seem to realize the scene is there!
Thanks for letting me know, I couldn’t find a comic called Constantine anywhere!
I always loved any time Constantine was involved with Swamp Thing.
@@kabirconsiders
There's an animated movie, and a short-lived series with the english actor who voiced the animated movie. You'd probably like it.
John Constantine is actually one of the most powerful entities in the DC/Vertigo Comics universe, outside of The Endless of the Sandman
@@mage1439
I love the issue with John's birthday where swamp thing grows a giant pot plant for his party.
YAY! I've always liked this movie. The visuals are always treat. For me Keanu did a good job. I like both his interpretation and Matt Ryan's version (both live action and animated). For me though, the ending when Lucifer shows is still my favorite and overall favorite depiction of the devil. His entrance with the dripping tar to him like "nope, this not how we play the game here' and the exchanges between Lucifer and Constantine is just great.
You gotta watch the after credit scene! Great reaction!🥰
A great angel/demon movie is Kevin Smith's Dogma 1999. Unfortunately, it's not available to stream or purchase digitally because of the film's rights being owned personally by the Weinstein brothers but you won't regret buying a copy for viewing 😉
I’ll try to find a copy of it, I’m sure I’ll be able to find one somewhere..
@@kabirconsiders the movie Dogma is actually a parody that is really critical of the Catholic Church. However, Kevin Smith was brought up in the church. So he used his upbringing to write the script and the biblical characters are extremely accurate.
Great movie!
@@kabirconsiders
It's on youtube. Maybe because there's nobody to fight for it to be taken down.
It's practically impossible to get a copy because it's out of print and nobody can make it.
If anything it goes easy on the religion and religiousity in general.
One of my favourite depictions of the Devil for sure.
He really nailed the sinister, evil demeanour
Funny thing is that the reason Peter Stormare's Lucifer said "I Need a Vacation" is because he's referencing the comic that inspired Tom Ellis's portrayal in the tv series "Lucifer". Despite their portrayals being polar opposites, they both did a masterful job depicting the fact that Lucifer doesn't care what humans do with their lives as long as they accept the consequences of their own actions.
FUN FACT: The man playing Balthazar is none other than rockstar Gavin Rossdale, leader of the grunge band "Bush".
I saw Keanu asked "What film would you like to do a sequel to?" He said he'd love to play Constantine again. I hope it happens. One of my favorite movies
It's in preproduction.
This happened on the Stephen Colbert night show, and Colbert said that it was a matter of fact that he was on for a part.
The bouncer at Midnight’s is Tanoai Reed. Dwayne Johnson’s cousin and stunt double
Good spot! I just googled him and they look very much alike
Imagine being the Rock's stunt double and having to work out to stay that huge all the time.
Constantine is in the same Universe as DC's Netflix Show "Morpheus" and "Lucifer", both characters are in the show "Morpheus" but just in different forms. Instead of John Constantine the character is Joanna.... studio and licensing issues with Netflix using Keanu Reeves... also artist license to change...
I definitely prefer DCs source material over Marvels, just seems cooler and more depth to the characters
@@kabirconsiders Vertigo especially has some great stuff. DC let them do a lot of things they would have never been able to do if they were just DC books.
You more than any other reactor got followed the action and forces almost perfectly! So enjoyable to rewatch this along with someone who can truly follow the film. The only thing: when the priest dies in the liquor store... Yes, he is being denied the alcohol that he needs to shield himself from his psychic vulnerability, but I think the liquid coming out of him is the alcohol already drunk to afford him some shielding is being pulled out of him, leaving him entirely unprotected. His death is either the direct impact of evil and/or the trauma of the alcohol extraction.
A shame you didn't see the scene at the end of the credits...
If you like the character, you should check out the "Constantine" and "DCs Legends of Tomorrow" tv series.
Yeah, great movie! I've seen Constantine several times but I had forgotten it was a DC Comics production. I am curious why you didn't watch to read end where Shia's character is given wings and ascends to Heaven, to take Gabriel's place (I believe).
I had no idea there was an end credits scene, I thought Marvel was the only one who did those
@@kabirconsiders It's a pretty fair thing. Post-credit scenes weren't really much of a thing in 2005.
@@kabirconsiders I’ve watched this movie plenty of times over the years and only this year found out about the after credits scene. No worries.
Even though the look and nationality of Constantine differ from the source, this is still a really fun movie, one of Keanu's best in my opinion. In the comics, Constantine is a snarky blonde haired Brit, who studied the occult and dealt with all manners of supernatural not just Heaven and Hell things, but other than that Keanu pretty much nailed it.
The comic book Constantine's look was based on Sting from the Police. I saw some anger when this movie came out that Sting of a Sting look-alike was cast. Reeves was perfect for this in my opinion.
This is one of my favorite movies
I love this movie, and I am so glad you did a review. Keep up good work growing your channel!!
Another fantastic reaction 🔥🔥
I love that John's ultimate winning move was, "I'm gonna tell your dad." 😂
At the end of the credits theres a scene where cass is an angel
So glad you finally watched it 🙌 was fab to see you watch one of my faves
my favorite line is you should believe in the devil, he believes in you
For just about any of the darker, more offbeat comics properties, DC had an imprint called Dark Horse Comics. Hellblazer (Constantine), Hellboy, and Frank Miller's Sin City were all published under the Dark Horse brand.
Love the movie reactions bro
glad you liked it it's one of my all time favorites
Great reaction video to this amazing movie! It is good to see people appreciating this underrated movie. Thank you. Keep it up!
It just came out that they are just NOW going to make a sequel. About time. Cheers.
Keanu Reeves has some AMAZING gems out there bro. One recommendation I'll put forward to you that I haven't seen ANYONE react to: Man of Tai Chi. This is my favorite Keanu Reeves movie of all time. It's a real diamond in the rough that most people have never seen.
I absolutely loved this movie. It had a great cast and it kept you on toes. Loved it !!
Constantine was from DC's more mature-themed Vertigo Comics before getting rolled into the main DC canon in one of their big reboot events. He's also meant to be British, with his appearance based on Sting.
Definitely one of my favorite movies plus it featured the song from the band a perfect circle wich was one of my favorite bands at that time as well. Big win for me.
I love this movie.
It was awesome
One of my favorites. classic movie
I love this movie!! And the sequel has recently been announced. Can't remember when it's coming out for sure but Keanu agreed to do it. Can't wait for that!
This a great movie. Glad you got a chance to watch it.
I've always loved this movie, and Keanu Reeves in this role. Watched it countless times. I was so excited when they did a series, but it took a couple of episodes to get used to someone other than Keanu being Constantine. Was very disappointed when they cancelled it after one season. 😕
Yeah but Matt Ryan ended up being the perfect Constantine. Keanu is great in the role but Matt is perfect.
One of my favorite movies
The "spear of destiny" is the spear that was used to pierce the ribcage of christ during his crucifixion by the Romans. After they nailed you to the cross, sometimes they'd stab you in the chest in order to puncture a lung so that you'd suffer more.
At the end of the credits...you have an extra scene where Shias caracter comes back like an angel ....worth seeing
This character is part of the Sandman universe created by Neil Gaimen including the Netflix series Sandman where we see a version of Constantine pronounced con sten tyne. Also the series Lucifer and also Good Omens and American Gods. All created by writer Neil Gaimen.
Movies been out almost 20 years now and I just figured out theres a post credit scene a month ago.
One of my favorite movies, seen it at least 20 times.
One of those under-rated films.
The funny thing about the character of John Constantine It's actually British not American.
I bloody love this movie
Great reaction, I love this movie, I just wish I could have seen your reaction to John introducing Gabriel to pain at the end. I believe the quote is "Get used to it".
2010 "LEGION" with Dennis Quaid is very good also, you'd enjoy it.
Balthazar is played by Gavin Rossdale lead singer of the band Bush.
You'll be happy that Constantine2 is in the works and Keanu Reeves is back! ❤
Love this movie, good pick.
Love this movie!! I’d love to see him in a sequel to this.
Love this Gem❤
This movie is so well done. The dialog, the shots, the acting, the cast. This is one of those I’ve watched over and over.
Edit: Did you see the end tag? Chaz is the new Gabriel.
P.S. love the movie & your reaction 😊
It looks like Balthazar is the lead singer of "Bush," Gavin Rossdale. I never saw this movie but I had a few bands during the Grunge era.🤣
good film, good reaction!
I like how you called them knuckle dusters like gta lol
Now I need to watch Constantine again, lol.
This was awesome man. one of my favorite movies. hope you get around to doing the hellboy movies. keep on rocking dude.
John Constantine is probably my favorite comic book character out of DC or Marvel there was just something about the dark gritty Supernatural underworld I liked about it
Keanu said that he would like to make a sequel to Constantine. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened one day.
but you didn't see the scene after the credits, it was very cool, as if hinting at a sequel
Yes she is
That's such a good movie thank you for reacting to it. I have a suggestion for another movie that you need to watch, it's called Short circuit.
You miss the end credit, Chaz became an angel.
Love your reactions and loved this movie. The CG in this movie is what inspired me to change careers into being a digital artist. I still watch this yearly.
Another good movie with Keanu and Rachel Weisz is Chain Reaction (also starring Morgan Freeman). Give it a go, sometime. 👍
Ty I'll check it out. Can't believe that I haven't seen it yet
I love watching your reaction videos, and I just wanted to let you know that at the end of this movie there is a post credit scene that I think you'd like.
Constantine 2 is in production mate. Hopefully out in 2023.
11:57 tilda... played in doctor strange as well later on.... and I think in this movie she's pretty
I had to goggle what Keanu looked like as a child after thinking the actor they show in the flashback is almost a good fit.
You missed the after-credits scene. It's on youtube
Tilda Swinton as Gabriel was a good depiction. There have been some great cosplays of her. There's a youtube of the best depictions of the devil, and another of angels.
They are making a 2nd one !
When john punches gabriel and says its called pain get used to it is so awesome and you had to cut that part boo hiss!
I love Gavin Rossdale in this too. He did a great job as Balthazar.
Critics tore into this movie. And most of the comic fans hated it because we're used to a blonde guy from London in a trench coat punk rocking git of an exorcist. So us comics book fans hated it for years. We finally got a good portrayal in one of the DC shows, and we just forgave this version being satisfied.
Amazing reaction but did you see the end clip after credits?
There are also a few John Constantine animated movies if you want to see more of the Constantine story
Constantine II is about to be released.. finally!
This was my first Keanu movie!
Hopefully you got to watch the post credit scene and if you didn't know as of now they are making a sequel that is coming out early or mid 2024
Dont care if hes not Sting. Movie was crazy. And tripped out seeing Batman begins trailer
Movie was epic, really enjoyed it
@@kabirconsiders Constantine was supposed to be a bloke based on the look of Sting....not the wrestler sting. The US interpretation still holds up
There is a sequel coming. It was announced not that long ago maybe a couple months.
You missed the end credits scene, Chaz got his wings.
If you want more Constantine i highly recommend checking out the tv series or the animated movie
I always liked Constantine he’s like DC’s drunk Dr.strange lol. & id love more films like this we don’t get it often, closest thing I can think of is supernatural type tv shows
Yes I t is
There was a Constantine Series on the WB but it was no were near as good.
Recommendation: the actor in this film (Rachel Weisz) also features in another interesting film, costarring alongside Hugh Jackman, 2006's "The Fountain". I would love to see you react to that film and hear what you have to say about it. If you enjoyed "Constantine" (and you SO did), you would also love "The Fountain".
I love "The Fountain.," even though I'm still puzzled by it.
"The Spear of Destiny" is claimed to be the Roman Speartip of the spear that pierced Jesus' side as he was hanging on the Cross. Hitler reportedly wanted it for it's occult power.
Does the spear actually exist? That would probably be the most valuable artefact in the world
@@kabirconsiders Before World War II, the Spear of Destiny (more properly known as the Maurice Spear) was exhibited in the Hofburg Museum in Vienna. It attracted the attention of the young Adolf Hitler, who linked it with legends of the Holy Grail and made his own plans to be a man of destiny. The spear held a special fascination for Hitler and his associates in the hothouse atmosphere of occultism and evil philosophies that gave rise to the Nazi plan for world domination. In 1935, Heinrich Himmler had a replica of the spear made and kept it in his private room. Three years later, Hitler led his troops into Austria, the first stage of his plan for world conquest. One of his first acts was to remove the Spear of Destiny from the Hofburg Museum.
The spear was buried beneath the Nuremberg Fortress, where it was discovered on the day that Hitler shot himself in the Berlin bunker on April 30, 1945. It was recovered together with other treasures of the Imperial collection. On January 6, 1946, these treasures were returned to the authorities at Vienna, and the spear was reinstated in the Hofburg Museum.
The sequel is being made now. Keanu is back! Constantine was awesome never read the comic but the movie is awesome
The fans have been asking for a sequel for a long time. Keanu said he'd do it if they do it.
You need to catch the series that was on TV and the animated movies. I waiting on the Graphic novel I have ordered
