Strongman Sandbag Tutorial - Tips for Picking and Carrying a Sandbag Faster

I'm currently using the sandbag as a substitute for the Mouser Block at Strongman Corp Nationals 2019, but sandbag races come up quite a bit in strongman regardless. Here, I cover some tips and tricks for handling unruly sandbags so you waste less energy and get the job done faster.

I like this one. Shows even the Pros may have to regrip 😄 After 100 carries, still can't find the perfect spot to put bag for speed and keeping ability to breathe.

Sandbag has been another one of my weaknesses. Those ones in particular! My hubby and I have Cerberus bags at our place and train with them. Have you ever tried using football gloves? I just got this tip literally over the weekend 🙄.

Sir does the lift follow the same protocol as deadlift where shooting hips is not accepted or is it accepted a bit in sandbag workouts?

No, odd lifts like this will often be done with the hips very high and some round in the back.

Do you think there is any advantage to training with loose filled bags and tightly filled bags or should you just stick with tightly filled bags?

Loose filled bags like 50kg is very2 heavy

My comp had both. A 200 pound tight bag is much easier than a 200 pound loose bag.

I seen a technique from martins licis on larry wheels first strongman vid where he stood the bag up and laid it over his feet that way he had a little extra space between the bag and the ground to get a better grip on it. Looked like a solid technique, any thoughts?

yea i have seen that. he placed the bag besides him at first . Its pretty good. sandbag lifts are more of a personal opinions and the ones which suits a person isnt guaranteed gonna work easy on you. many strongman lifts their sandbags as sumo deadlift stance, i cant do that, i have more lift power in close stance style.
