- Star Trek: The Motion Picture is remembered as being rather long and boring. So watch my shortened toy version instead that uses the 11-minute Readalong Adventure as its audio.
Action figure line-up starring:
James T. Kirk, Spock, Dr. McCoy, William Decker, Ilia, Lt. Uhura, Mr. Sulu, Scotty. Space suit stunt doubles for Kirk and Spock: G.I.Joes: Countdown and Maverick. Special guest star extras: Hal Jordan, the Teen Titans, Supergirl, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and April, Captain Pike, Chancellor Valorum, Senator Palpatine, Senator Orn Free Taa, Vulcan master: Mulan. Engineering crew: Buzz Lightyear and Starfleet Academy Worf. And some secret special guest stars as the reprogrammers of V'ger!
I like how buzz lightyear was there to help out too!
I had this 45 and book. Nostalgia goodness.
Great video! At 4:30 Bones is helping Scotty with the engines - "Damn it Jim I'm a doctor not an engineer!" LOL
The Enterprise chairs and turbolift came from Star Trek: The Next Generation playset. The bridge walls were also from the same playset but just backwards and turned upside down. The computer panels were just made from scraps of plastic, cardboard, and magazine cutouts of different colors. Thanks for the comment!
Love the scene with the Transformers. LoL!👍
There are several errors in the record vs. the movie. 1) Klingons contacted the cloud... NOPE! In typical Klingon fashion, they attacked it. 2) V'ger cloud "understood communications" and stopped attacking Enterprise. NOPE! They just dropped the shields as that was causing a "Echo" (for lack of a better word) 3) Spock AND Kirk went out in space suits?!?! NOPE! Just Spock.Excellent reenactment with the toys! Keep up the good work!
Well the 3rd 1 with kirk and Spock went out In their space suits that was In their space suits that was originally gonna be in the movie where kirk is going after spot to figure out what is going on You can even find images of the scene on UA-cam.
Wow. This storybook audio really captures the important points of the story well. And I used to make short films like this as a kid. So fun. Thanks for posting.
I love everything about this!!! Great great fun channel.
Love the director's edition of this movie (which we desperately need on Blu-Ray) This action figure assisted version is wonderful. Well done.
Great movie! Persis Khambatta looking more beautiful than ever! Also loving the fact that the V'Ger robot planet was in fact the planet of the transformers - an epic crossover if ever there was one ;)
I don't find the motion picture boring at all. I love it.
Ilia's voice sounded like the actual actress.
Has anyone ever wondered why they never made decent versions of the original crew with their red uniforms?
OMG - I remember that tape. I think it may have come with a picture book to but can't be sure. Obviously this was years before you could buy the film on home video BTW. I seem to recall there were several of these tapes available for different films.
This is AWESOME.!!!!.. And has boldly gone... Do more plz.
This is hilarious and deserves more views.
Awesome I had this story album as a kid. This was so much better than the accompanying book.
Love it reminds me of when I used to use my figures in the same way to play out other read along books when I was a kid thank you 😊
"When you hear this sound, turn the page."
* *beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep chitterchitter* *
hahaha....i had " planet of the apes " record and comic book stuff way wack in the early 70s when i was little. i remember that
"When you hear this sound, turn the page." ,,,,=^..^=,,,, we would die laffing playing it in speeds of 33 or 78rpm when it was a 45 record
Better than the original. At least it's shorter!
Love your versions of the movies! Thank you for not making them into parodies.
Well done. A labor of love.
Great effort put in to this.
Thank you for sharing.
Music:Jerry Goldsmith(1979)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Enterprise crew members lolol
I knew it was the Transformers behind Vigor since the 80's I just couldn't prove it till this histarical documentary was released.
Some of the discrepancies and the actual movie are interesting. They suggest this recording was made based off of earlier scripts, or before the film was completed.
How to tell the same story as a two hour movie in 11 minutes. Well done.
This is great! I love your use of forced perspective with the differently sized figures (the smaller ones from the 70's and the bigger ones from the 90's).
And the planet of living machines is Cybertron!!! Ha ha ha ha ha! Brilliant!
Your Wrath of Khan one is terrific, too. Do you plan to do any more? I know the same narrator did some Star Wars book-on-tape sets that were fun.
Wonderfully done!! And major kudos for working in the Robotech Hover Tank!!
@3:57 Christopher Lloyd briefly took over the captain
At first I thought the narration was by Gary Owens - that's a great radio voice you've got!
this was awesome!!!!
This is great. I noticed the old LP this was on must have been made from the original script because it used the "memory wall" sequence.
Cool! I have the old Spock and Decker figures from TMP. Fun stuff!
Is it just me or does Spock sound like Tuvok? Anyway, this is fantastic. Well done!
This is so great.
Oh, this is awesome! I LOVE IT! (Supergirl...Bruce Timm version... in the background at Starfleet Command.....yes!!!) Well done!
I love your Shatner impression!
Thanks, but credit goes to the voice actor of the audio tape of the Read Along Adventure of 1983 from Buena Vista Records
Amazing 😉👍👍👍👍🖖
The voice acting is great!
This.
Was.
Amazing.
Very well done. I love your ToyMovies
Nice! Thanks for posting! May you and yours live long and propser!
" _Nooooh! Deeelaay thaaaaat Phaaazoooooor Ordeeeeeeerrrr!!_
_Reaaaaddddyyyy Phooooootooooon Ttttttooorrrpeeeedoooooooo!_ "
“Phoooootonnnnn torrrrrrrpeeeeddddddooooeeesss arrrrrmmmmed”
"Pppphhhhooooottttttoooooonnnnnn ttttoooorrrrpppoeeedddoooo aaaaaarrrrrmmmmmmeeeeeddddd!"
this is 70s greatness
This has more suspense and better special effects than the actual motion picture. Sad to see that 4 Klingons beg to differ.
I think i remember having the readalong for these. Thanks for posting them in toy format!
Awesome Veritech Hovertank from Robotech at 5:33!
You must have an awesome collection of Star Trek action figures and memorabilia.
i didn't know Supergirl was a member of Starfleet
0:58 good to see the Teen Titans are on the job.
You didn't see Buzz Lightyear on the Enterprise or the TOS-era Klingon with the crab-foreheard Klingons?
Yeah, you have to make do with what ya got... Good choices! ;)
Well done
I have had the vacuform one Mego made about 3 times but lost them all. Yours looks even better though.
what happened to Sonak? Did he ever bean on board?
+Warblerab 295 He was killed in a transporter accident, when beaming to the Enterprise.
In the actual film variant.
Someone else was with Sonak and was also killed in the transporter.
Great job
Did you know you was using in the Klingon ship a captain sisko figure captain sisko as a Klingon
Yup!
Vulcan Master Mulan 😂
Well, firstly this epic. Secondly, I really want to find the original backing music Rainbow used on their Trek stories.
Thanks for your comments! You have a keen eye! Yes, I do plan to do more. Perhaps at the end of the year. I've done many of the Star Wars book-on-tape sets too. Just type in the name of the Star Wars movie plus "toy movie" and it should be there. My earliest ones were uploaded a few years ago with my old video camera so the quality isn't so great compared to what can be done now, but still fun to watch. Also check out my "Planet of the Hoojibs" and "Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell"!
What was that bridge made of? I've been trying to complete a good one a long time. I really like how you used all those action figures and just like in the movie their uniforms would change from scene to scene.
Star Trek toys look like Star Wars Kenner figures
Buzz lightyear was on board huh.
What toy is the blue double doors behind the Klingon captain from?
Star Wars Episode I Theed Hangar Playset. I turned it into a temporary Klingon battle cruiser bridge playset
Thanks!
Hey what's with the Trandsformers?
Well done.
I really liked this and gave a thumbs up.
The special fx are WAY better than the blasphemers that did 2.0. The nerve!
Nicely done! To be honest, I wasn't expecting much. Pleasantly surprised, you may have done a better job at conveying the synopsis than TMP did. Kudos!
Wait,I thought V'Ger sent 2 plasma energy spheres
Nice Work.
This really is extra-splendid!
Robot chicken way awesome
Hey dyna, where did you get the Ilia in her uniform? I've never seen that one anywhere.
It's a part of the original Mego collection of Star Trek movie action figures from right after the Motion Picture came out. There were only a few figures in total: Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Ilia, and Decker for the Enterprise crew.
I had that audio book! 😁
Loved it
I love this. :)
Nice
1:21 - Buzz -Lightway- Lightyear went turbo!
It’s like you filmed this without a completed script and had to figure out an ending. Much like the original production. Quality stuff
So at 1:10 how many people thought he was going to say there was something on the wing?
I love this.
I do to, haha. We are different.
Spock went after V'Ger without permission Kirk wasn't there. WTF.
+stdamon In the original script, there was a "memory wall" sequence, where both Kirk and Spock went into V'Ger. They couldn't make it work on film, so scrapped it late in the process, and did the sequence with Spock alone. The "memory wall" sequence can be seen in the Marvel comic adaption of The Motion Picture, as it was made from the script, before the film was finished.
Better place Ebay orders. But seriously, good job.
😆🤔💖 thank you so much 💜 I la la la loves it 💞
I take it the Decker in ops/security colours was the toy company's mistake?
I have no idea, but I read somewhere that the toy company had seen an early picture where Decker was wearing the tan color so they followed the model of the picture, not having seen the movie yet. I've also seen the group picture of him wearing tan that was not a part of the movie on the back of the VHS cover, so I guess that story is believable. I remember the action figures for Star Trek: Generations being a complete mismatch where the Enterprise D crew was wearing some new uniform that wasn't even in the movie at all. So I guess these things happen.
That same photo is on the back of the Director's Edition DVD, and I never even noticed it... so yes, the promo shots must be to blame.
Of course, the Generations uniforms, a shame there're no decent photos/footage of them being worn, though cool that the toys exist.
Transformers 🤣🤣🤣
I'll have to buy the necessary red uniformed figures first. That may take a while.
hahaha....i had " planet of the apes " record and comic book stuff way wack in the early 70s when i was little. i remember that
"When you hear this sound, turn the page." ,,,,=^..^=,,,, we would die laffing playing it in speeds of 33 or 78rpm when it was a 45 record
Way better than the original
I love it.
Figure and scenarios link?
Delta. Not deltan.
They should have released this rather than the movie! Much better and much shorter! And far more exciting.
But probably more cheesy than the cheesiest Star Trek Episode.
Long and boring. Right. A portion of it, maybe. I would say it was probably boring to anyone under the age of 16 and possessing a short attention span.
Its SOOO Cheesy!!!
that was better than the actual movie. it got rid of all the un-nessecary stuff , bloated special effects (fx's that don't move the story forward / fx's for fx's sake) , pointless borring interpersonal exchanges that bog the movie down
matiowsky d Better acting from Admiral Kirk 😉
I love everything about this!!! Great great fun channel.
