The amount of love you poured into this review is present in every frame, bow to stern. From the shot you created of her in drydock to the crew watching the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins, this was a thing of beauty. Thank you again for the very touching dedication and for all the journeys, past, present, and future.🖖
Spot on Michael, I was just gonna compliment Michael on the use "Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" 'cause he could have used any episode in there instead he throws that in, superb! Bravo Michael Bravo.
I had never heard about this before turning a corner in Hamleys in London and coming face to face with it on display. I practically dropped to my knees. It is spectacular.
I saw this at our local toy store (we actually HAVE a toy store again in Dallas). It's marvelous. I would never have said this as a kid, but man, Playmobil is nailing it right now.
I remember thinking they were dorky figures, and maybe I still feel that way, to an extent. But they certainly created an amazing toy Enterprise... the core that switches power on and off, the sounds, the chairs being faithfully recreated and everything. Got to respect that level of commitment, and also that they stay true to their character style, working with what they like instead of trying to chase the currently hip, cool, popular thing and ending up a lame copy of some better-known thing.^^
Playmobil and LEGO were staples of my childhood, I can’t believe there are so-called toy collectors out there who dislike Playmobil figures and want them changed?? Playmobil is an icon of toy history!
Playmobil puts other toy companies to shame, with their incredible Classic Star Trek Enterprise. And Michael knows exactly how to comprehensively review such an awesome toy!
My daughter bought me this for Christmas/birthday. She, my Mom and I really enjoyed putting it together, and It makes me smile every time I look at my dining room table. I've even made custom Klingons & Gorns. I really hope we see a shuttlecraft, a Sickbay & Transporter room playsets, and aliens! I'd LOVE to see a Klingon Battlecrusier.
The Playmobil Enterprise is out of my price range, but I have an Ecto 1, a Delorean, a Ghostbusters Headquarters, and several of the smaller licensed sets. They're just good, fun toys. They're made well, have tons of play value, and look great.
@@sunnyfrisch agreed. They have become more expensive, and are now at the limit of what I (personally) would call fair pricing, unlike LEGO, whose prices just became ridiculous. True, you can find the Enterprise for 299,- at certain websites and in certain shops. Same as with most of their items. I always wait a few months and then buy their products, did so with BTTF, Ghostbusters, A-Team and will do so again with Knight Rider.
I had many Playmobile sets that I loved playing with, while in grade school during the 70’s.Their toys were always some of my favorites. If this Enterprise had come out then,I’d have lost my mind!
Whilst Star Trek isn’t my jam, I can certainly appreciate the beauty, engineering, and sheer spectacular presence this piece has, playmobil sets in my opinion give some of the best value for money, as well as best play value when it comes to toys that are on the market today. Brilliant review Michael. And damn you!!! Now I’m on eBay looking at playmobil sets! 🙆🏻♂️😂
The Playmobil Enterprise is on my wish list and their version of `Knight Rider` is already on pre-order - absolutely loving their ip related stuff at the moment and long may it continue.
The Playmobil Enterprise is the closest vehicle/playset to what has been in my imagination since I was a kid. It's really nice. Thanks for the detailed review!
RetroBlasting has done some excellent video's in the past, but this is now my new favourite (high praise indeed). I can completely relate to Michaels passion for the franchise and the product. I salute Playmobil for doing a toy that I've yearned for for decades . Fantastic product, I hope it sells well, and another brilliant video! Well done! 😀
I have the Galoob 3 3/4 scale Enterprise D prototype that includes the bridge, engineering section, medical bay and working transporter room. It’s an amazing toy that sadly never made it to market because of poor ratings of the first two seasons of ST:TNG. That said, I recently picked up this Playmobil Enterprise and it is a true beauty. As a playset person, and former Galoob designer, it does the Enterprise proud. This thing is a pure piece of art that somehow got made in this sadly declining world of large scale, large tooling toys. Playmobil is the only toy company that knows that playsets still have a place in the hearts of kids and collectors alike. Thank you for posting this video and echoing my thoughts about this piece and your continued love of playsets.
their pricing is super strange when it comes to unlicensed sets. some of the more mainstream stuff they sell is a bit expensive while more niche stuff can be very cheap.
Mr. T in the Time Machine is a show I would definitely watch. Also, I definitely see the lack of secure seating as a feature. When you shook the Enterprise and all went flying around the bridge, it looked VERY accurate to the show. I love the look of this toy. I hope to get it some day.
Great video, and I 100% agree with the "fun" of putting this together. I was so impressed with the instructions and placing the (amazingly accurate) stickers on the bridge was a labor of love for this classic trek fan. You can really tell that the company LOVES the properties they license, and spare no expense at the "big bet" of making the best toy they can for each and every one. I really hope your video encourages more folks to buy this set. Because, like you, I want a Playmobil scale refit Enterprise!
Totally agree! Could you just imagine the figures in monster maroon uniforms. Sweet! That said, I’d love to see them expand the line with baby steps. It would be amazing if Playmobil add a play set of the transporter room and sickbay (also with lights and sounds); including figures like Nurse Chapel, Mr. Kyle, Khan, and maybe a little NOMAD on top of a translucent stand. Playmobil also has add on sets or bundles, like a 3 figure set of a male/female from each department (bonus points for having the figures roughly resemble the DS9 crew from Trials and Tribble-ations), and an alien pack with a Klingon, Romulan, and Gorn. They could even do Galileo Seven with crew. Oh, to dream!!!
Another astounding video featuring a truly amazing product. Where was THIS when I was a kid? Oh to be that age again right now. Thank you VERY much for this one!
Same!!! This is arguably the greatest Playmobil thing I think I have EVER seen! It's like every other feature had me literally like 😮😮😮😮. I literally was not prepared for the greatness of this review! And yeah, if this was around when we were kids, I would have bagged my parents to get it for me. (Given the price point, I would have probably ZERO chance of actually getting it! Hahahaha, but I would have given it my best shot!😄) I think to celebrate the greatness of this review and WORTHY homage to the Original Series, (and myself as being a proud DS9er!) I think I'm going to bring those proverbial worlds together and go rewatch....."Trials and Tribblelations"!
I bought this amazing Toy last October and my jaw still hits the floor every time I look at it. As a 39 Year old Man and life long Star Trek fan, this is the Toy I dreamed of as a kid. Recently I seen Playmobil teasing the Bird Of Prey on Facebook. So.... that's a thing
It's always such a treat when I see you gush over a product and give kudos to its quality because I know it's genuine and I can trust it must be great quality indeed. I live vicariously thru your collecting.
it's INSANE how great Playmobil's vehicle lines have been. I hadn't bought Playmobil since I was a kid, but these things have got me spending. The Enterprise is a bit out of my price range, but I respect the hustle.
Great review, man. I always enjoy your enthusiasm for the toys you review and it really comes through in this video. This reminds me of the GIANT space 1999 Eagle I had as a kid. Just a massive fun spaceship that could, with both hands, be swooshed around the house while holding the entire crew. Good times.
They probably could get the license if they really tried, but with all the competition in Star Wars toys, especially trying to compete against LEGO, it would probably be wise to stay in their corner, and tackle licenses others don’t have, or produce many products for.
I was on e bay looking for this before I got halfway through your review. A beautiful, sympathetic and classically realised homage to what a toy, model and tribute to the show should be!
They are totally nailing it with not just these licenses but toy design in general, with so many companies it's like they've forgotten what toys are at the core. I completely agree about that false expectation "You want Playmobil to do what, are you crazy?". O_o??? I've enjoyed their figures picking up some from each of the waves sometimes, think they've evolved well. Do kind of wish for more "eye twinkle" like their movie characters but it's been a point of contention breaking from the original simple faces. Personally I'd like to see more flourishes like modern Lego in the face prints at least for the licensed sets, think that might help increase their general appeal.
How wonderful to have this company that has the guts to go where no-one has gone before!!! A truly great toy company that never disappoints!! The figures identify this range-- leave them alone. To seat them just stick magnets on their bums and a washer glued to the seats,(which are literally banned by the toy trade, how far do people want to go?). Great entertaining promo feature AGAIN, so keep these coming!!!
Hi Michael! -beautiful video! -as always; Mon Capitan! So many great ST references :) loved the ST-III intro visual, your verbal nods, classic cut-aways, comping the Playmobil Enterprise into drydock- LOL! - and you built it to the Jerry Goldsmith STTMP OST, -spectacular piece of music :) Awesome! Thanks Man x - love to Retrobalasting, Star Trek, and Playmobil -want one now ;)
🥷🏻🥺 Thanks to your (Retroblasting) PLAYMOBIL GHOSTBUSTERS vids, I’m a proud Patron of modern PLAYMOBIL; of which I display, play, and create Visual Storytelling-based Full Motion Videos. This set, (TOS) ENTERPRISE, I wanted badly, but I had no budget for it when I first learned of it months ago. Alas, I’m excited for this video and happy to see it in your (Michael) collection!
Wonderful review! It's very apparent that the Playmobil designers that work on these licensed products are fans on some level. The extra love and little details always make me smile.
WOW... and here i remember playmobil as being for really really little children. Yet with lines like A Team, Knight rider, Back to the Future and Star Trek... I am changing my opinion on them. Id love to see a playmobil Airwolf.
(Sung to the Honeycomb cereal song) En-ter-prise big, yeah yeah yeah! It's not small, no no no! Playmobil has, the big big size! Fit your figures in, a big big En-ter-prise!
This has been teased for months while Indy realized it's vision. This is a home run. Playmobil is the future of vintage reimaginings. The illustrious Michael French strikes gold again.
Anybody else love how the figures’ shaggy Battlestar Galactica hair reflects how the crew’s hair might’ve evolved had TOS lasted into the 1970’s? You can more easily imagine their adventures from toward the end of that five year mission now! Thanks for the review! What an awesome play set! I hope it does well!
I had couple of Star Trek action figures in the 70s, and they were big compared to later Star Wars ones by Kenner, and always wanted the Enterprise playset that came with the transporter room.
I always loved Playmobil as a kid (specifically their medieval sets) but more for role playing than building. They were never as malleable or customizable as Lego and for that reason they haven’t had as much staying power for me as an adult. This set however looks brilliant
Thank you for the video - made up for an ugly day at work 😊. It’s awesome that you listened to Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack while assembling this - I used to listen to my Return of the Jedi cassette soundtrack while basement building SW models in the 80s lol.
Thanks a lot, Michael, for this video! I love Star Trek and I also love Playmobil, Lego and Mega Construx. You are probably my most favourite 'negative UA-camr'. :-D Just teasing and referring to one of your previous videos. :-D
BRILLIANT! That's it. Totally INCREDIBLE and absolutely amazing! All other toy companies should take notes and then feel ashamed of themselves. Thanks for this review. As usual, extremely well done!
This looks amazing and is loaded with fun features! This must have been a blast to assemble. Playmobil has been able to recreate the iconic U.S.S. Enterprise and pack in many wonderful aspects of Star Trek I remember fondly. Thanks for this great review.
My pirates had a swimming pool -- only in the summer, and only 12' diameter x 3' deep, but as a kid it seemed huge. I used scrap wood to make a floating island for them. Then I'd sink the ship, put on goggles, and go diving on the wreck like Jacques Cousteau. Sigh... good times.
I loved Playmobil in the late 70s early 80s , I had the fire engine ,fire station and a police bike and car with the police station , the fire engine was a birthday present ( my birthday is in the first week of November) I must have played with the fire engine none stop throughout November because the presents Santa left were a massive fire station with some figures and a police bike and car each with the driver and s police station with a couple of cops and two baddies I could put into the cell, they were so well made and stood up to real playing , I have to say I love all the new TV stuff Playmobil make and in my opinion Playmobil did the right thing sticking to their long established and successful figure design , the fact that they are super strong and can survive any drop from the bedroom window , playmobil have shown all the other toy companies how it should be done .
Love this video. RetroBlasting's production values shine. There was a Star Trek knock-off-Lego series that came out for the first couple of reboot movies - Kreo. It was right when Lego had lost the patent protection of their bricks' 'studs & tubes' clutch mechanism, and suddenly everyone and their granny were making knock-off Lego-compatible building brick toys. Kreo was Hasbro. Anyway, they had a USS Enterprise where you could open the saucer to reveal seating for about five 'Kreons', their version of Lego Minifigs. There were a few other sets - a USS Vengeance from Into Darkness, a Klingon Bird of Prey from the same film, as well as an Enterprise & Klingon Battle Cruiser set; a shuttlecraft, and then a couple of dioramas. But they looked awful. Not least because the proportions of the JJ-Verse Enterprise are hideous, but because they were trying to do it in Lego to a small scale, which just looks equally awful. Couldn't have sold very well, because they only did those few sets and then the line died.
Great review and very nice dedication to Mr. Shaffer. I need to get that Enterprise. I love what Playmobil has been doing lately. Besides their licensed toys, they're doing their own version of Dino Riders and a Greek mythology range that includes an Argo and a huge Mount Olympus play set. Great stuff.
Glad I’m not the only one who noticed that “Dino Rise” is basically “Dino riders”. I love it, just waiting for the price to drop a bit. My best friends son loves them. Personally, I HAVE to get K.i.t.t, love Knight rider and the car and the figures look awesome. If only we could get an airwolf from Playmobil next….
I’m not a playmobil fan, I’m not big on action figures or licensed themes, but this thing is great. It feels like a time capsule in the best way, it’s like looking at a brand new toy from the 70’s or something. There’s something special about that I think
@RetroBlasting I missed out on winding Michael up, I was going to try and get myself Banned by wishing him a "HAPPY STAR WARS DAY" on May 4th.... LOL! But glad I did miss it now... Honestly, I have never been a big fan of Playmobile.... But WOW! THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING! My only complaint now is - You have gave me an idea of something I want and I need to watch my finances!!! LOL! No, Genuinely, Its stunning... Amazing work! Just amazed!!! Great Video!!!
I thought I was done with collecting new toys all-together, but dear gawd this is an amazing play-set. This puts Hasbro and Mattel to shame. It is a so well designed and made from sturdy material. It just oozes pure quality. This is how you do it. A toy kids can actually safely play without fear of it breaking in 5 minutes, what a concept! And no stickers! Thank you! I need need to have this. Haven t felt like this about a new toy in so many years. Love it!
I agree. There's nothing wrong with Playmobil's figures. They are as Playmobil as GI Joe figures are GI Joe. Props to them for making such generic figures look so individualistic. In this day of hyper-realistic figures, it's nice to have a toy that looks like a toy, and clearly is doing what it can to look like the real thing at the same time. I never had much Playmobil as a kid, but man, I wish we'd had these things!
I've never bought into Playmobil as a child - not out of spite but more apathy and disinterest to a line I was unfamiliar with. But I have to give credit where I see it. And this monument of engineering and wish fulfillment deserves every iota of praise thrown at it. This is a perfect recreation of the original Star Trek Enterprise as we all wanted it. The circular array of lights on the nacelles alone throw me back to the Original Series. A spectacular toy that I would love to own and display.
This playset was recently on sale on my country, I don't have any other Playmobil toys, thanks to your review convinced me to make the purchase, I know I'll enjoy it as much as you.
Kudos for being the first american I hear that so openly and thoroughly appreciates Playmobil. I guess many people in the USA can't come to terms with the figure design (born in 1974, four years before Lego's) because in your country there's no nostalgia for them.
Awesome! That's damn nice! I'm sure they won't do it, but how about the refit Enterprise from STII, with the updated red uniforms? And then a second ship, the Reliant! With Kahn & Company... Whaddyathink?
I'm not even a real Star Trek fan. I AM a huge Playmobil collector. I bought this set because it really is awesome. Thanks for the review. Btw... your studio tours with your vintage Kenner Star Wars and 3 3/4 inch GI Joe collections is a multiple repeat viewing for me. I still have a sizable Kenner Star Wars collection. Unfortunately I had to sell my 'Joes. I had a massive Cobra Army. I miss it. Found your channel late night watching Playmobil videos. New subscriber Thank you for your work.
You are 100% right that Playmobil doesn't have to bend to the will of fans to have their figures be compatible with other lines, that being said I'm just not keen on the Playmobil figure style. Doesn't mean I disrespect them (The only reason I got the BTTF set is because they were on the cheap side.). I hope not only other companies learn from this and but also Hacklab defenders like a certain Guru of Toys can put a sock in it. I will keep my Playmates figures as those are my preferred Trek figures and vehicles.
Hey Michael, that was great. I agree with that you are saying as some friends had the 1970s original bridge set and figures and it would have been great to have an entire ship. I can just imagine 10-year old me playing with this. And then me now (age withheld but you can guess) having this proudly on display.
Great review Michael thanks for sharing! Never once played with or collected Playmobile but I have always respected the amount of detail and quality they put into their product - kind of like a mating of Lego/1980’s Gi Joe into one
I have always thought that the quality and compatibility of Playmobil was underrated. They always have produced quality products, that are rugged enough for a 4 yr old to throw around.
wow I had no idea this even existed. I'm not really a toy collector, I focus more on anime figures but I have a real soft spot for scifi shows. lately I have been getting into lego and making them up with my father who is elderly, but have to settle for Star Wars as they dont have the Trek license. I really hope I can still find this toy at stores in my country, thank you so much for showing it off!
The amount of love you poured into this review is present in every frame, bow to stern. " For God's sake , Jim ..........its just a damn toy !!!". It's just an expensive novelty toy. Nice, but only a toy.
Dallas TX? 'I'd like to know more as I'll be moving there soon.
Playmobil and LEGO were staples of my childhood, I can’t believe there are so-called toy collectors out there who dislike Playmobil figures and want them changed?? Playmobil is an icon of toy history!
Playmobil sets the standard for handling toy licenses. Its not perfect, but its a good balance of toy details, play features, and accessories.
I’m shocked by the level of detail and even more by the sheer amount of functionality, one of the best play sets I’ve seen in a long time 👍🏽
This toy is amazing! I need to find an excuse get one. I am 60 years old. The thought they put into the design is nuts. Thank you for the review!
Your excuse is you're 60 and don't need to give a fug what anything thinks. I'll now get off your lawn sir.
@@damionkeeling3103
That wasn't very nice now ,was it?
You don't need a excuse your a trekkie like many of us be a trekkie 😁🖖🖖🖖🖖💪
Just come accross this video. Im 60 too and i want one. Wouldnt be supprised if adults bought more for them selves than for kids.
Playmobil puts other toy companies to shame, with their incredible Classic Star Trek Enterprise.

Agree Baxter. If this sells well enough, I hope Playmobil would consider making a Klingon Battlecruiser.
Not yet, but they HAVE released a Klingon Bird-of-Prey! 🎉
The best toy channel on UA-cam and it’s not close
I never played with Playmobil so it is such a shock to hear that they have made what sounds like a perfect toy.

Same parent love the whole Ghostbusters sat, and all the and all the back to the future. Did pick up scooby doo too I believe. Pretty neat toy sets
Do you want to cry with the price? Look at the pirate ship
I had many Playmobile sets that I loved playing with, while in grade school during the 70’s.Their toys were always some of my favorites. If this Enterprise had come out then,I’d have lost my mind!
But remember Michael, “you can’t sell large vehicle based toys at retail anymore” great video.
Where I am, they currently sell their inventory of this toy at 50% discount. I must say, it's hard to resist the urge of buying it...
Whilst Star Trek isn’t my jam, I can certainly appreciate the beauty, engineering, and sheer spectacular presence this piece has, playmobil sets in my opinion give some of the best value for money, as well as best play value when it comes to toys that are on the market today.

My jaw almost hit the floor when it first cut to you talking next to that huge enterprise with the blinking lights. Wow! 10 year old me is so jealous.
I’ve always loved Playmobil (collected them since the 90s as an adult) and have always hoped they’d get the Star Wars license.
They probably could get the license if they really tried, but with all the competition in Star Wars toys, especially trying to compete against LEGO, it would probably be wise to stay in their corner, and tackle licenses others don’t have, or produce many products for.
the level of detail into this original enterprise playmobil set is amazing

The love and enthusiasm throughout the video is infectious, and I love it!
I had no idea it was gonna be such an awesome toy! The thought that's gone into it is staggering! Great video review.

Awesome!
Thanks Man x - love to Retrobalasting, Star Trek, and Playmobil -want one now ;)
Thanks for highlighting this. This looks great
🥷🏻🥺 Thanks to your (Retroblasting) PLAYMOBIL GHOSTBUSTERS vids, I’m a proud Patron of modern PLAYMOBIL; of which I display, play, and create Visual Storytelling-based Full Motion Videos. This set, (TOS) ENTERPRISE, I wanted badly, but I had no budget for it when I first learned of it months ago. Alas, I’m excited for this video and happy to see it in your (Michael) collection!
Thanks for another great video. I love how they integrated lights and sounds in the toy!
That’s the dream!
Love how Playmobil made the Star Trek figures. They did a great job on this toy. Great review
(Sung to the Honeycomb cereal song)
En-ter-prise big, yeah yeah yeah!
It's not small, no no no!
Playmobil has, the big big size!
Fit your figures in, a big big En-ter-prise!
this is a thing of absolute beauty. great video Michael.
This has been teased for months while Indy realized it's vision. This is a home run. Playmobil is the future of vintage reimaginings. The illustrious Michael French strikes gold again.
Nice homage at the beginning 👍🏻🖖🏻.
It’s awesome that you listened to Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack while assembling this - I used to listen to my Return of the Jedi cassette soundtrack while basement building SW models in the 80s lol.
thanks for this fantastic video, a beautiful Homage....awesome
Thanks a lot, Michael, for this video! I love Star Trek and I also love Playmobil, Lego and Mega Construx.
You are probably my most favourite 'negative UA-camr'. :-D
Just teasing and referring to one of your previous videos. :-D
BRILLIANT! That's it. Totally INCREDIBLE and absolutely amazing!
All other toy companies should take notes and then feel ashamed of themselves.
Thanks for this review.
As usual, extremely well done!
Excellent review Michael. I’ve always liked playmobile products.
This looks amazing and is loaded with fun features! This must have been a blast to assemble. Playmobil has been able to recreate the iconic U.S.S. Enterprise and pack in many wonderful aspects of Star Trek I remember fondly. Thanks for this great review.
Kick Ass video Michael! Bravo!
Loved my Playmobil pirate ship in the 80's the quality was 2nd to none. Was a constant fixture in the bath lol ✌🏼
The bath was what killed my Lego AT-TE (although I'm assuming you weren't dumb enough to put it in the water)
What a fantastic toy! Great review as always 👌
Totally agree with your many points, playmobile do incredible work whenever they get the chance. Great review!
OMG! That is beautiful!!
I love to see Playmobil star wars even night rider.Good show thx for putting us on to all this great 👍 info.
Great episode RETRO MAN. That toy is a boss!
I’m glad Playmobil is still around, this set looks great.
Sometimes it feels like Playmobil watches your videos 😂👍
Playmobil pulled off what nobody else could be bothered. BRAVO!!!
I just watched this Video with my 6 year old daughter and she said “I kinda want one of those” well done sir, well done
I LOVED that you put “Bilbo” sung by Spock on the screen for the bridge to enjoy 😂
Can't wait for that Darth Vader's Star Destroyer Playset-Video!

Thank you for your work.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for subscribing!
Jesus. That's fantastic! I hope Hasbro takes notice of this. A bluetooth enabled Falcon or X-Wing would be great fun.
Playmobil has always Been Awsome:) God Bless Playmobil and Malta!
Hey Michael, that was great. I agree with that you are saying as some friends had the 1970s original bridge set and figures and it would have been great to have an entire ship. I can just imagine 10-year old me playing with this. And then me now (age withheld but you can guess) having this proudly on display.
Playmobil has been doing amazing work with detailed vehicles in a time a lot of toy companies are leaning hard away from them. Awesome video!
Playmobile have also done a beautiful-looking James Bond Aston Martin DB5, with all the gadgets from Goldfinger & Thunderball.
Thank you, Michael. We also need to remember vintage Playmobil figures and vehicles are still very affordable.
Great review Michael thanks for sharing! Never once played with or collected Playmobile but I have always
respected the amount of detail and quality they put into their product - kind of like a mating of Lego/1980’s Gi Joe into one
Bro that A-Team van is crazy good looking.
Aye!!
I have always thought that the quality and compatibility of Playmobil was underrated. They always have produced quality products, that are rugged enough for a 4 yr old to throw around.
Hands-down the best review of this amazing toy!
This is amazing! This was clearly created with love.
Another great video as always !
I think this Enterprise deserves to be called Magnificent
Playmobil does it again! What a fun looking build and great display!
wow I had no idea this even existed.
