The presence of IRON in the Water is very harmful to Shrimps and Fishes. So it's very much essential to remove IRON from Water. You should know How to Remove IRON From Water For Vannamei Shrimp Farming using Biofloc Technology.
In this video, I have demonstrated how easily and with low investment, one can remove iron from water. Please watch this video until the end to understand it better. You can also search on Google, why iron is harmful to Shrimps and Fishes.
To check how much iron in your groundwater, you need to buy an IRON Test Kit, which is easily available online. Before using the water for Biofloc Shrimp or Fish Farming, check the water iron content, if the percentage is more then remove it using the described method.

Hi thank you so much for sharing this valuable knowledge... I have two questions 1) If we were to treat the content of Iron in a pond, What shall we do with the Iron settled at the bottom. How can we remove it or we don't need to remove it? 2) How much of Potassium Permanganate shall we use for how much amount of water? In other words, what is the ratio? Thanks Boss
For earthen pond cleaning is not required as the iron is already in precipitated form, it will automatically enter into the mud. Per 1000 liter you can use 1-2 gram. Hope your got your answer.

Very good idea. But how to remove the iron sediments from tank. Foot valve will again push the water to the overhead tank.
You should have a treatment tank for removing iron then take the clean water
If we drain sludge after this process then iron will remove or not in production tank.

Don't do it for human consumption, its KMNO4 is a harmful chemical. Its only for aquaculture use

Nice Question, most people are getting confused on this, so I am making a new practical video on this, which may help people to understand the concept of water treatment.
You need a separate water treatment container for water treatment. Once its treated then shift the clean water to your Biofloc Tank. Never use production tank for water treatment.
Per 1000 Liter of Water you can use 2gm-3gm of KMNO4 Solution.

Can we use KMnO4 treated water in biofloc tank?
Sir you can use KMNo4 for sanitising biotloc tanks. If you use directly on the water it will kill the bacteria present in the tank results of which Nitrification Process stops and fishes get killed. So not recommended at all direct use of KMNO4 on Biotloc Tank
Then how do you suggest the water to be treated of iron if someone has 20k little of water, if not in the tanks...
@@uditmishra8402 Good Question. Basically we need a temporary water holding place where water need to be treated. You can digg a small area on the ground and put a polythene cover and store water there for temporary water treatment.once it's done shift to your main tank.

I have no idea about Professor R.K. Dutta but you are not supposed to use it for household or drinking purposes as it's poison. It is only recommended to use it for aquaculture purposes only. The effect of KMNO4 is temporary, its effect lasts about 4-7 days to remove heavy metals and kill all sorts of harmful pathogens in water. NEVER USE IT FOR DRINKING PURPOSE AFTER KMNO4 TREATMENT
Potassium permanganate, or KMnO4, is a common inorganic chemical used to treat drinking water for iron, manganese and sulfur odors. It can be used as a disinfectant as well, keeping drinking water free of harmful bacteria.

Water comes clean but gets red after keeping it in container for some time and an oily layer forms on top.
You can use KMNO4 for removing Iron from water but not for drinking purpose, only for aquaculture use

Never use KMNO4 directly in the Biofloc Tank it will kill all the bacteria. It used as sanitizer. Once you KMNO4 in a temporary tank...leave it for 2-3 days it's effects will go, the. You can use the water in your biofloc tank.
