This is a beauty of a first set. The long run of Warfield-Radio City shows, and recording them, was really good for their first set material -- as shows here. "Just exactly perfect."
Starting my day with this show, two hours from Greensboro upon the blue ridge mountains. Too young for 81’ but still fondly recall the dark star 10 years later same place. Thank you Elaine for outing all these shows out here!

i actually took a greyhound bus 2 weeks later up to the barton hall ‘81. an era of 1show stops per college town, type I tours slowly morphing a darwinian tangent evidently all the was to 18 show 2024 residencies in vegas observatories. who knew?

hey yall from Greensboro... they returned for 2 awesome nights in 1989... "The Dead" tour with Warren Haynes playing the part of JG began here in 2009... ps saw my first Phish show also at this venue in 2003.... pps not quite yet 2 weeks but still quite saddened by passing of Dickey Betts at 80yo.... Lesh is 84yo- one of oldest still living performers from Woodstock - i think grace slick is the oldest living by a few months over Phil.... and Jorma...
