    No need to prove it can be safe, James Cameron has been to the titanic 33 times, as well as going much much much deeper 100% safe The amount of people that don't know anything about submersibles and aren't willing to learn is astonishing

      They werent looking for people because they have said they knew immediately everyone was dead. Coastgaurd protocall is to not anounce deaths until they have evidence in hand. It was always a recovery mission, according to the coast gaurd.

    People’s just saying that it’s instantly going to fail, doesn’t realize that there were other submarines that actually went deeper into the ocean than this. The problem with the last time is that they didn’t do enough of the necessary safety tests and precautions.

      Exactly, he plans to gain certification/classification for the sub to that depth. This is something Oceangate purposefully avoided. I do have some real questions about the plexiglass holding up under those pressures, but if it gets certification, then it should handle it just fine...

      You realize the Titan didn't follow any of these standards and that's why it imploded??? Maybe read more into the subject before saying he's stupid just because of what happened with Oceangate. The submarine industry has had a superb safety record for a long time bc of their safety standards, which he openly stated he's complying with.

    i love the videos of him slapping the sub and saying "this is carbon fiber and kevlar" and laughing because he thought that was awesome.
    Number of mountain bikes ive folded in half and destroyed that were made out of carbon fiber and kevlar..countless.
    Number of tennis rackets made out of the same ive destroyed by just regular use. Dozens.
    Carbon fiber and kevlar is ULTRA sensitive to UV decay. Leave that racket out in the sun for 1 day and you just cut it's life in half.

      I doubt he'll cut corners. The issue isn't the pressure. It's the complete disregard of safety standards.
      Flying airplanes is pretty safe if you follow the safety standards, but if you take shortcuts when creating an airplane, you're going to significantly increase the risk. If you stick to the standards, there is little chance something will go very wrong.

    I just feel like ocean gate was a whole suicide mission.Now this mess.A law needs to be placed to prevent defective submersibles from touching water.They should have a registry placed to alert anyone in partnership with them from participating and be charged a hefty fine if noncompliant.

      @@PinkPixie-ix8wi Dr. Robert Ballard, discoverer of the Titanic, was also the first to visit Titanic in a submersible. The submersible he used was Alvin, which was certified in 1965. That's 20 years before Titanic was found. So, let me ask more specifically: What does Titanic have to teach us about proper submersible design that has not already been cleared, or that cannot be learned elsewhere?

    There's nothing to prove, this has been done many times over the decades. Just don't try to mix carbon and titanium and run multiple cycles without properly checking for cycle fatigue.

    People in the comments thinking an implosion is gonna happen again don't even know what they're talking about. Ocean Gate Titan submersible was not built properly, not tested, was not approved by regulations. They want to do it the right way and have it engineered correctly.

Even OceanGate had successful trips before this last, deadly one. But that submersible couldn’t take it anymore. It was going to give out sooner or later because of the way it was built. Guy cut too many corners and honestly didnt care. He was one bad apple.

      Just becuase you can get subs certified and tested doesn't mean they will not implode. The ocean is a mysterious place and although multiple times have been recorded of James Cameron taking trips to the titanic wreck and Mariana all it takes is just one loose bolt for everything to snap.

      Some people including myself know that there has been many trips down to the Titanic. And with this next planned trip- I do know there is always the possibility that it could implode or something go wrong; even if it’s built correctly. But many people in the comments seem to think no submersible has made it down there.

    It kind of like the CHALLENGER DEEP that James Cameron built and dived in. It looks like they are doing things right by going with a company that is going after all the stuff. Getting certified and tested. The passenger compartment looks to be a spere, which the best design for going deep.

      I was thinking why doesn't he just take the one he took to 35k feet deep that one was certified to 40k feet. Challenger Deep got burned up in a fire while being transported on a flat bed truck breaks burned up.

      ​@@Mike-01234subs are only rated to make one trip, becuase after one trip the hull becomes weaker and they only have two options. Built a new one from scratch which uses tons of money or use the parts that are still good for another sub. A whole sub can be repaired, but even though some subs have done multiple dives its really not recommended to attempt to reuse subs over and over

People have been visiting the Titanic for decades without incident. One person ignored what has been learned by building an inadequate vehicle and getting himself and four other people killed. And he was warned beforehand. Do you think that is what's happening in this story?

    Triton Submarines need to use titanium, stainless steel, and tungsten for the new submersible instead of carbon fiber and titanium because those metals can withstand high water pressures.

      That's what Triton used before for two they built for Marina Trench 35k feet deep. Stocken Rush was idea was Carbon Fiber.

      Mr Rush with his OceanGate Titan was the only one who built it with carbon fiber.

    Honestly, if this guy actually looks at submersibles with any sense, Im sure he can do it. I have faith that we have billionaires with some intelligence to be able to figure out their submarine is unsafe, anyone trying to clown this guy are probably just middle class envious of his wealth.

    This story reminds me of Jurassic Park, no matter how many times it went wrong they just keep on doing the same thing and getting the same results. I hope nobody gets hurt this time
